Police Search Canal for Clues in Stacy Peterson Case

<snipped>
Since her disappearance in October of 2007, the focus of the investigation has been on her retired police officer husband, Drew. His attorney, Joel Brodsky, called Wednesday's search a waste of time.

"They did it all last summer," Brodsky said. They're doing it again, so I don't think it's of any significance."

But the spokeswoman of Stacy Peterson's family said that it's searches like these that give the family hope.

"I think what we can take from that is that they're still considering this a very important investigation, and that it's very active," said family spokeswoman Pam Bosco. "We believe she can be found yet, and so we want to put all our efforts into doing our searches. Yet we believe that eventually we will find Stacy."

Brodksy said that the search, coupled with an apparent leak of internal police documents about the day Stacy disappeared is an attempt to bait Drew Peterson into making a mistake. To Brodsky, that document is a detective's hour-by-hour timeline of what Drew Peterson was doing the day Stacy Peterson disappeared.

"I think that the state may be doing both of these things on the same day in order to provoke some sort of reaction from Drew," Brodsky said. "It's time for authorities to start pursuinig the possibility that Drew Peterson is telling the truth when he says Stacy ran away."

Stacy's sis attacks Drew in radio rant; 'You killed her. You will pay. The truth will be told in court'

Drew Peterson's last morning radio appearance apparently was too much for the sister of Stacy Peterson to bear.

Cassandra Cales, the missing woman's sister, called in to the Mancow Muller radio show on WLS-AM (890) Wednesday and lit into Drew Peterson, calling him a killer in a profanity-punctuated tirade. The off-air chat was recorded and aired Thursday.

"You killed her after she got off the phone," Cales barked at Peterson. "You will pay. I know what happened, I told the State Police. Drew knows. It's not for the public's eyes. The truth will be told in court."

Peterson has not been charged in connection with the 2007 disappearance of Stacy Peterson, his fourth wife. She reportedly spoke with a mutual friend of hers and Cales on her cell phone just before she vanished.

Peterson, who has said he believes his wife ran off with another man, has been a regular guest on the Mancow show over the last few months. But Wednesday's taping veered from the usual light-hearted banter.

Besides claiming Peterson murdered her sister, Cales accused Drew Peterson of keeping Stacy Peterson's young son and daughter away from Cales.

Drew Peterson claimed he does not want the children around Cales because of her poor driving record. He also explained that Cales was involved in a high-speed chase during which the police "had to Taser her down to bring her to justice."

Cales laughed that off and returned to calling Peterson a killer, and possibly worse, before hanging up.

"My friend talked to my sister at 10:15 a.m.," Cales said. "She was laying in bed, and Drew wasn't in bed. Where were you Drew? You killed her after she got off the phone, you piece of [bleep]."

Here is the timeline created by author and Herald News reporter Joe Hosey, based on his articles for the newspaper and his true crime sensation, "Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Sergeant Drew Peterson."

All times are approximate.
Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007

3 to 4 a.m.: Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson skipped out of his shift early, by his own admission, and returned home. He joined his sleeping wife in bed.

9 a.m.: Peterson's children woke him up. Peterson said he "believes" his wife Stacy was still in the house, but due to his sleepy state, did not fully trust his memory. Peterson did recollect his wife telling him she was leaving to help Bruce Zidarich, a friend of her sister, Cassandra Cales, paint the home of her brother, Yelton Cales, in Yorkville.

10:15 a.m.: Zidarich spoke on the phone with Stacy, for what turns out to be the last time. He said she sounded "depressed" and told him she had been lounging in bed. Stacy never showed up to paint.

11:55 a.m.: The Petersons' next-door-neighbor, Sharon Bychowski, said she called the Peterson home to offer the children some lollipops she had bought. Peterson's then-13 year old son Kristopher answered. Bychowski said Kristopher sounded disoriented and stumbled on his words. Peterson then took the phone, she said, and told her Stacy went to visit her grandfather and to run some errands.

1:15 p.m.: Peterson took three of his children, Kristopher, Anthony, then 4, and Lacy, then 2, over to Bychowski's house and asked her to watch them.

1:30 p.m.: Peterson returned and collects his children.

2 p.m.: Bychowski called Stacy's cell phone. The call went straight to voice mail. Bychowski found this highly unusual.

2:30 p.m.: Peterson called in sick from his shift that evening.

7 p.m.: Drew Peterson picked up his stepbrother, Thomas Morphey, from his home a few minutes away and headed to a Bolingbrook Starbucks. Peterson related to Morphey that he is having problems with his much younger fourth wife, Stacy, and asks for Morphey's help. Peterson drove Morphey to a nearby park, gave him his cell phone and left him there.

7:45 p.m.: Peterson's cell phone, left in Morphey's possession, rang. It showed Stacy's name on the caller ID. A second call came in soon after in the same manner.

8:30 p.m.: Peterson returned to the park, picked up Morphey and headed to the Peterson home.

8:40 p.m.: Morphey and Peterson carried a blue barrel downstairs from the master bedroom to the driveway and Peterson's Yukon Denali.

8:50 p.m.: Peterson dropped Morphey at his home.

9 p.m.: Peterson claimed Stacy called his cell phone to inform him she met another man and has abandoned her family.

10 p.m.: Morphey walked down the street to his friend Walter Martineck's house. He told Martineck he believes he helped dispose of Stacy Peterson's body.

11 p.m.: Cassandra Cales drove to the Peterson house. She found the driveway empty of vehicles. Cales spoke with Kristopher, who told her Peterson and Stacy fought, Stacy has left, and his father is out looking for her.

11:15 p.m.: Cales called Peterson's cell phone from the parking lot of a department store near the Peterson home. Cales said Peterson sounded out of breath and told her he was at his home. Cales said she had been outside his house shortly before she made the call and Peterson was nowhere to be found.

11:40 p.m.: Cales went to the Downers Grove Police Department to seek advice. She was sent to the Bolingbrook Police Department.

Midnight: Cales went to the Bolingbrook Police Department to report her sister missing.
Monday, Oct. 29, 2007

2:30 a.m.: Cales drove by the Peterson home again and saw both the Denali and Stacy's Pontiac Grand Prix in the driveway.

4 a.m.: Cales went to the state police District 5 headquarters in Lockport and reported her sister missing again. Later that morning, the state police took over the investigation from the Bolingbrook police.

Drew to sub for Blago on 'Cathouse'?
Comments

May 6, 2009
By Joe Hosey, Sun-Times News Group

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is unwilling to do a reality show in a Nevada brothel.

But there's always Drew Peterson.

Glen Selig - the man handling publicity for both Blagojevich and Peterson - said he plans to enter talks about having one client substitute for another as a prospective guest star on the HBO program "Cathouse."

The show gives viewers an inside look at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, a legal brothel outside of Reno," according to the HBO Web site. The ranch features more than 500 licensed "bunnies," its Web site says.

The owner of the ranch, Dennis Hof, was willing to negotiate with Peterson but really has his heart set on getting Blagojevich out to his brothel. While his dream appears unlikely to come true, Hof still was holding out hope Tuesday.

"It's not dead on our part," he said of a deal to land Blagojevich. "We're going to entice him to come out here, offer him money and (sex) and everything."

But all the offers in the world won't be enough to get Blagojevich to do the show, Selig said.

"The governor's not doing it," he said. "It's just not appropriate."

But Selig believes it might be right up Peterson's alley.

"(Hof) did put it out there that he wants Drew," Selig said. "We're going to talk to (Hof) about it."

Peterson, 55, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, is a married man, but his wife, Stacy Peterson, has been missing since October 2007. Illinois State Police have named Peterson their sole suspect in her disappearance and consider the case a "potential homicide."

Peterson's previous wife, Kathleen Savio, was the victim of a "certain homicide" in March 2004 when she was found dead in an empty bathtub in her Bolingbrook house, shortly before her divorce from Peterson would be finalized. State police still are trying to sort that case out.

Selig conceded that quite a bit must be worked out before Peterson would appear on "Cathouse."

"On the surface, it sounds like something he'd be excited about," Selig said. "But we don't know what it entails."

CHICAGO (WBBM) - Could the next stop for Drew Peterson be a reality show about a brothel?

The show: HBO's "Cathouse," about a legal brothel in Nevada, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch.

Dennis Hof, the owner, wanted to hire Rod Blagojevich as his apprentice.  But the ex-governor's publicist says he's turning it down.

The publicist, Glenn Selig, also handles Drew Peterson.

And Bunny Ranch owner Dennis Hof tells Newsradio 780 he may be ready to offer Peterson the gig.

"You know, I think I might as well just stay in that Chicago area.  I think I'm going to go after Drew Peterson.  He doesn't have an old lady now; at least they can't find her.  He might as well be on my show and have some fun with the girls."

Peterson's publicist Glenn Selig says... maybe so.

"Drew Peterson has made no secret of his desire to be around women and his dating, so this might be something he might be interested in exploring."

Selig says Peterson has received no formal offer from "Cathouse" yet.

By JOE HOSEY jhosey@scn1.com
BOLINGBROOK – Authorities arrested Drew Peterson Thursday near his Bolingbrook home for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio, according to police sources.

Police took Peterson into custody at Weber and Lilly Cache roads.

Savio, 40, was found dead in a dry bathtub in her Bolingbrook home in March 2004.

At the time, Illinois State Police failed to find anything suspicious and her death was ruled an accidental drowning by a coroner’s jury.

After Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, then 23, disappeared in October 2007, officials reclassified Savio’s death as a homicide and gave the state police another opportunity to figure out who did her in.

Savio’s body was exhumed from its grave. An autopsy conducted in November 2007 determined Savio was the victim of a homicide.

Peterson wasn’t named a suspect in Savio’s death, but state police determined Stacy's disappearance is a "potential homicide" and say Peterson is a suspect in the case.

I heart Shepard Smith on Fox:

Instead of living out his reality dreams in a Cathouse, it looks like Drew Peterson is on his way to the Bighouse! LOL!!

He has been indicted w/one count of murder for his 3rd wife.
He is due in court at 9:30 am Chicago Time and Fox will have it live.

I wonder if the small children are with Stacey's family, or what arrangements have been made for them.  It seems the family were not allowed to see the children and the would seem unfamiliar to the kiddies now.
Poor little kids.
