I got this email and NO idea how.. but it pisses me off to no end..!

Lowe's refuses to call them "Christmas trees," chooses to call them "Family trees"

Dear ANGIE,

In an effort to avoid the use of the term "Christmas tree," Lowe's has renamed their Christmas trees and are now calling them "Family trees."

In their Holiday 2007 catalog, containing 56 pages of Christmas gifts, Lowe's advertises hundreds of gift items, including scores of "Family trees." In fact, the word "Christmas" only appears two times in the entire holiday catalog. The ads mentioning "Christmas cover only 12 square inches of the 5236 square inches available.

Lowe's even has one of their Family trees turned upside down on a stand. We are not sure what the significance of that is.

Lowe's evidently did not want to offend any non-Christians, therefore they replaced "Christmas tree" with "Family tree." Of course, if Christians are offended that is evidently ok.

An on-line search of Lowe's does reference some "Christmas" items. In fact, a word search of their Web site gives the exact same number 174 of the word "Christmas" as it does the word "holiday." Most of the items mentioning Christmas appear to use the promotional line given by the manufacturer.

Their Holiday 2007 catalog features scores of products, including lights, wreaths, trees, and yard decorations. Most people would associate these items with Christmas, but not Lowe's! Except for two obscure references, they refer to everything in their catalog as "holiday."

Click here to see the front cover of the catalog and a page featuring their "Family trees." catalog ad.

I will not shop at any store that doesn't allow the word Christmas....

and did y'all notice that last year Macy's went back to using the word Christmas?  Money talks.... and the stores that refused to use Christmas had dismal sales...

Di,. I looked too.. the website.

Mrs Red , I agree with you.  We say Merry Christmas where I work... my last job,. the same thing.
I know here in PA,. some folks at Wal Mart were not allowed to say it.. and had to say Happy Holidays,. or otherwise get fired.  A few did.. and I felt bad for those folks.  They stuck up for CHRIST and his birthday. and got let go cause of it,  Sad    Pathetic IMO.  Sad

I will NOT stop saying Merry Christmas.. EVER. !!!!!!!!!!!! And I wil lbe damned if ANYONE I work for or work with.. tell me to ever do so. They can kiss my butt.

I agree Ang!  Why the hell are they celebrating if not for Christmas! Isn't that the time they've always makde there largest sales!   Damn that makes me so mad.  If you don't/can't believe, then don't go along with all the sales and getting people in for the wrong reasons!

Other religions NEVER complained before, that I'm aware!  I respect them, as I expect the same!  I hate hypocrites and liers!

This is what our country was founded on!  Biblical principals, with freedom of religion damn it!

Lowes has apologized for the advertising error.  I suspect this one caused someone their job.  I don't think this was solely a proof reading error.  I think someone decided to make a point just because they themselves wanted to and that they didn't follow corporate policy.

Read the explanation in Snopes.
