Bessemer police seek ID on skeletal remains
Posted by Birmingham News staff November 13, 2007 2:50 PM

Bessemer police are working to identify skeletal remains recovered today off 19th Street near the interstate.

Detective Perry Hurst said the remains were found by a passersby in a grassy area. The remains had been there at least eight months, Perry said.

Some clothing and other personal effects were found with the remains, but nothing that would help identify them, Hurst said. There was no visible signs of trauma, he said.

Body Found Near I-20/59 CBS 42 News

A horrific discovery is under investigation in Bessemer where a decomposing body was found along I-20/59 at the 19th Street exit.

The victim was discovered on Sunday afternoon, but police were on the scene a good portion of Monday gathering evidence.  Investigators are saying very little about this case.

Right now there is no word on who the victim is or how that person died.

Nut...I see there is a 16 year old endangered runaway missing from Bessemer, 2/19/2007. this would fit with the remains being there about 8 months.
