Detectives say an Etowah County man is behind bars for molesting a child. But that's not all. They say he also saved the attacks on video tape.

     Etowah County investigators say Martin Mcburnette sexually molested a seven year old girl at his home here off of Rocky Ford Road near Hokes Bluff. The sheriff's department got the tip last Thursday, then served a search warrant on Friday.  "We found some pornographic video tapes there at the residence," says Chief Investigator Michael Jones. 

     Jones says the tapes were of Mcburnette molesting the victim.  In some respects, investigators say Mcburnette laid some of the ground work for the investigators when he made the tapes.  Jones calls the videos sickening. "I've been doing this 14 years and i've... This...Its...I don't know what to say. You can't explain it. It's just hard to comprehend," he says.

     As for when the molestation started and how many times it happened, Jones says his investigators still have parts of the investigation to finish.

     Mcburnette is currently in the Etowah County Detention Facility with no bond. He's charged with producing pornography with a minor, sodomy, rape and sexual abuse of child under 12 years old.

     Chief Jones says there could be more victims involved in the case. And they're asking for parents to give them some help.  If your child has had contact with Mcburnette, investigators want to hear from you. Call the Etowah County Sheriff's Department at 256 549 2825.

Another scumbag...another horrible story. I wonder if he planned to sell the tapes, or if they were for his personal collection.

We need a death penalty statute for this kind of crime. Or at the very least, life in prison with no parole. He should never be free ever again to harm another child.

What a piece of crap.  What an idiot. Videotaped himself committing a crime.  This ought to make prosecution and conviction a cinch.
