Loved ones join hunt for girl, 13

Friends and family of Cori Baker joined police officers in scouring the banks of the Arkansas River on Wednesday in the continued search for a missing 13-year-old girl.

Police started searching the west bank of the river just north of the Pedestrian Bridge on Tuesday based on statements from Marquis Bullock, the 18-year-old who was arrested on allegations that he kidnapped and killed the child.

Bullock -- the boyfriend of Cori's older sister -- was seen picking Cori up from school about 2 p.m. Friday. She has not been reported seen since.

Bullock was arrested late Monday in connection with her disappearance and apparent homicide.

Police Sgt. Mike Huff described the area along the west bank near the Pedestrian Bridge to be the ''current area of focus,'' but police are also searching other areas of the river.

Cori's family also searched farther south on the river, said her cousin Tyson Hageny. He said they did so because Bullock is more familiar with that area and because there is only a short time frame when he was unaccounted for.

''My whole family has searched all down the riverbank and through the woods, and investigators are down here looking, also,'' Hageny said after family members searched near 91st Street and Riverside Drive.

''We have been searching for her since Friday, pretty much nonstop, just taking time to sleep and eat,'' he said.

Police are still seeking information from anyone who might have seen Bullock and Cori between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Friday, Huff said. More infor mation might help police focus their search even more.

''We don't know what his route was or any stops he might have made during this time,'' Huff said.

Cori's father, Daniel Baker, said Wednesday that he hopes anyone with information that ''might lead us to Cori'' will provide it to police.

Baker described Cori as having a zest for life. He said she was a starting basketball player for Union Public Schools and hoped to be a professional basketball player when she grew up.

Hageny said he knew Bull ock and was in the process of selling him the red Firebird that Bullock used to pick up Cori at school.

''He seemed like a good kid,'' Hageny said, describing Bullock as soft-spoken.

Meanwhile, Huff said police are going through the process of getting DNA testing on evidence in the case.

''There is a significant effort into locating this young girl, and our hearts go out to her family,'' Huff said.

The ''Special Contribution Fund for Cori Baker'' has been established to help the family with expenses incurred due to her disappearance. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at any Bank of Oklahoma branch.

''We don't know how long it is going to be before they find her or what we are up against,'' Baker said.

Anyone who saw Bullock and Cori or the red Firebird between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Friday is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

2:05 p.m. Friday

Marquis Bullock was seen picking up Cori Baker from Union Alternative School, 5656 S. 129th East Ave. in a red 1995 Pontiac Firebird. Cori told friends that he was taking her to buy a present for her older sister, Bullock's girlfriend. Police believe that she went with him willingly, "until her outing with him turned to violence" and she was held against her will and killed, police records show.

3:30 p.m. Friday

Bullock returned to his apartment in the 2600 block of East 88th Street. His girlfriend saw him cleaning his shoes with a toothbrush in a bathroom sink. He then took a black backpack from the master bedroom and moved it to the Firebird.

While serving a search warrant, police found a stain on the floor of the Firebird that Bullock was driving when he picked up Cori. Preliminary tests indicated that the stain was blood. Police want anyone who saw this car between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Friday to call them at 596-COPS.

During interviews with police, Bullock initially told an elaborate story about being at the Creek Nation Casino between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Friday and winning money and then losing it all before returning home. He later changed his story and told police that he was at an east-side strip club during that time, police records show.

Police began searching the west bank of the Arkansas River, just north of the Pedestrian Bridge,Tuesday afternoon based on information provided by Marquis Bullock and other potential evidence. They used the police helicopter and dive team, but the search was called off about 8 p.m.Tuesday.The search resumed there Wednesday morning, but Cori Baker has not been found.

Family Of Missing Teen Begins Their Own Search
KOTV - 11/16/2007 5:57 AM - Updated 11/16/2007 2:50 PM
More than 150 volunteers are out searching for Cori Baker, the 13-year-old reported missing one week ago. The News On 6's Ashli Sims went out with a search team and reports on these new developments. Starting before 8 a.m. Friday, about 170 people showed up, filled out paperwork, grabbed vests, and were assigned to search teams to look for Cori. A section of the Mabee Center was transformed into a make-shift volunteer command center.

Cori's grandmother was on hand to register volunteers. She says some are friends of the family, and some are new friends who've only seen Cori's picture on television. Dressed in winter clothing and supplied with water, the searchers are answering the family’s pleas to lay the 13-year-old girl to rest.

"I'm a good friend of the grandparents and aunts and uncles and I hope we find her," said volunteer John Pirtle.

"Just for the 13-year-old little girl and the family,” said Nicole Eppler, volunteer, when asked her reasons for searching. “When I heard them say that they would like someone to come out, I could see myself there. I just wanted to be there."

Tulsa Police believe Cori was picked up after school by her sister’s boyfriend, Marquis Bullock. He is in jail accused of kidnapping and killing Cori. Although he told the police of dumping Cori’s body in the Arkansas River, two days of searching have so far turned up nothing.

Along with family and friends of Cori Baker, a search group connected with the Missing and Exploited Children Foundation is in Tulsa to coordinate Friday’s search. Searchers plan to scour the banks along the Arkansas River in Tulsa for clues.

Search organizers will be at the Mabee Center until dark. A group out of Texas called the Laura Recovery Center is organizing the search. To volunteer, call 495-7121.

This story is so very, very sad.  This girl knew and trusted the man who stands accused.  She knew him for 3 years.  How do we protect these kids from someone they think they are safe with, someone we think they are safe with?  It boggles the mind.  And the poor older sister.  She had this man's baby.  What a tangled mess.

Officers look for clues to find girl

NICOLE MARSHALL World Staff Writer

Some pieces of evidence that may have been discarded in Tulsa could help police find a missing 13-year-old girl, a detective said Thursday.

Marquis Bullock, 18, has been arrested in connection with the disappearance and apparent homicide of Cori Baker. Although police believe that the girl, who has not been seen since last Friday, has been killed, her body has not been found.

Bullock is the boyfriend of Cori's older sister, Courtney Baker, and the father of her child.

Repeated searches along the Arkansas River based on unconfirmed statements by Bullock have not revealed any new evidence.

However, Sgt. Mike Huff said police continued searching Thursday along the river and other areas Bullock was known to frequent.

A regional representative from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was in Tulsa working with police Thursday.

Also Thursday, Huff identified three pieces of evidence for which police are searching.

''We are looking for a yellow polo-style shirt with blue stripes that we believe may have been discarded in someplace like a Dumpster or somewhere else,'' Huff said.

The short-sleeved shirt has three buttons at the neck, he said. Police released a picture of Bullock wearing the shirt, taken from a surveillance video that was taped at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 81st Street and Lewis Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Huff said detectives are also searching for a silver compact disc player and a black purse with a pink Union Public Schools logo on it. Both items belong to Cori and have not been found.

Bullock picked up Cori at the Union Alternative School, 5656 S. 129th East Ave., in a red Pontiac Firebird about 2:05 p.m. Friday. Bullock returned to his apartment in the 2600 block of East 88th Street about 3:30 p.m., but Cori never arrived at her home.

''We are still needing people to come forward who may have seen them during that time. We are trying to locate where they went along their route and any stops along the way,'' Huff said.

Jail records describe Bullock as black, 6 feet tall and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Cori is described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 105 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing her hair in corn rows at the time of her disappearance, Huff said.

''If anybody saw a man matching Bullock's description wearing the described shirt with a young female with cornrows matching the victim's description walking in the area of the Pedestrian Bridge on Friday, we would like to talk to them,'' Huff said.

Police also have information that a transient may have seen a female body on the west side of the river near the Pedestrian Bridge during the latter part of the weekend.

The information was secondhand, and police would like to talk to the man about what he may have seen.

Detectives are also continuing to investigate unconfirmed information provided by Bullock, Huff said.

Anyone with information that might help police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS. Callers can be anonymous.

This is just awful.
Is this what we've come to in this country? It just seems to be all these loose connections people make with each other....it leaves all these kids in a vulnerable position.

Search for missing girl continues, expands  Reported by: Chris Cordt
Email: cordt@kjrh.com
Last Update: 11/21 8:37 pm

The search for missing 13-year-old Cori Baker has been expanded to include another missing person. Volunteers are now also searching for Angie Tucker. The mother of two has been missing since November 3rd.

The community response to Cori's search has been so great at this time of giving, the Baker family wanted to do the same for another family.

Linda Baker cannot imagine Thanksgiving without her granddaughter. While she mourns, she realizes she's not alone. Linda says, "Tomorrow the mother of those girls and our family gonna be somebody missing in their family and our family."

Angie Tucker has been missing since November 3rd, leaving behind two young children. Volunteers are now searching for both Tucker and Baker. Tulsa Police Sergeant Mike Huff says, "Two different sets of circumstances... we probably wouldn't look in the same area but they bring attention to it so that's great." On Tuesday, hundreds of volunteers including members of the local "Community Emergency Response Team" took to the streets of Tulsa once again.

At a time when many are giving thanks, the Baker family is doing the same. Cori's father Daniel says, "I can't imagine Thanksgiving without Cori. I have to be thankful for all the people who have helped and supported our family." Volunteers will continue their search Friday at the Mabee Center. If you would like to help out, stop by anytime during the day.

A leader from Texas Equusearch is in Tulsa to plan her group's part in the search for missing teenager Cori Baker. Texas Equusearch has about 350 members. Several of them will be taking part in the search. Meanwhile, the regular search teams will continue the search tomorrow morning at 8am at the Mabee Center.

Cori was last seen on November 9th leaving Tulsa Union Alternative School with her older sister's boyfriend, Marquis Milton Bullock, who is in jail and accused of killing the girl. There were about 90 minutes between the time Bullock reportedly picked up Cori from school and the time he showed up at his house without her.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A search and rescue team from Texas is in Tulsa to lead volunteers searching for a missing 13-year-old girl who is believed to be dead.

Members of Texas EquuSearch have come to Tulsa at the request of Cori Baker's family and will meet with volunteers at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center before beginning their search.

Cori disappeared Nov. 9th after her sister's boyfriend picked her up after school.

The boyfriend - Marquis Bullock - was arrested three days later on murder and kidnapping complaints. Bullock has not been charged and is due in court Friday.

Police used information from Bullock and have searched along the Arkansas River for the girl's body but no remains have been found.

Texans join search for Tulsa teenager
TULSA - Members of a nationally known mounted search group joined the search for a missing 13-year-old Tulsa girl who is believed to be dead.

Five members from EquuSearch, a nonprofit, volunteer group from Dickinson, Texas, along with 50 volunteers began searching for Cori Baker about 8 a.m. Wednesday, said Cindy Wisdom, case manager for the group.

Several items including a passport were found, but nothing specific to the Baker case, she said.

The search resumes today.

"We will go into day two, and if need be, day three and four," Wisdom said.

Police are searching for the CD player and a black purse Baker was carrying when she left Union Alternative School on Nov. 9. They are also looking for a yellow, striped polo shirt they think was worn by the girl's attacker.

Baker was last seen leaving the school with Marquis Milton Bullock, her older sister's boyfriend. Bullock, 18, was jailed on complaints of first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the teen's disappearance. He has not been charged and is due in court Friday.

Wisdom said the search sites include Union Alternative School, Floral Haven Cemetery and the Tulsa Reservoir. All-terrain vehicles were used to search near the Arkansas River and southwest of Snake River, she said.

Authorities have searched along the Arkansas River for Baker's body based on information Bullock provided. Tulsa police have said they believe that information was false.

Court hearing in missing-teen case delayed 2 weeks

BILL BRAUN World Staff Writer

A court date has been postponed two weeks for a man who remains jailed on a murder complaint linked to the disappearance of a 13-year-old Tulsa girl who is presumed dead.

Tulsa County prosecutors have not filed charges against Marquis Milton Bullock in the Cori Baker case and have not decided what charges will be filed, Assistant District Attorney Bill Musseman said Thursday.

Bullock, 18, had been scheduled for an initial court appearance Friday via a video hookup between a Tulsa County courtroom and the Tulsa Jail.

With no charges filed, a judge could have ordered that he be released from custody.

Special Judge Millie Otey agreed to reschedule the initial appearance for Dec. 14, saying the District Attorney's Office showed "good cause" regarding the need for further investigation.

Cori was last seen alive Nov. 9, when Bullock, her older sister's boyfriend, picked her up from her school at 5656 S. 129th East Ave.

Bullock was arrested late Nov. 12 on complaints of first-degree murder and kidnapping. He was booked into jail Nov. 13, records show.

A court date set for Nov. 20 was postponed previously.

Bullock had been held without bail on the murder complaint, and a $1 million bond is now set on that complaint.

A $50,000 bond remains on the kidnapping complaint.

Authorities, volunteers and Cori's friends and relatives have scoured the banks of the Arkansas River and other areas in searching for the missing girl or evidence linked to the case.

Searchers briefly thought they had discovered human bones Thursday in the 16100 block of South Garnett Road near the Arkansas River, Tulsa Police Sgt. Mike Huff said.

However, the bones were determined to be those of a deer, he said.

Anyone with information regarding Cori's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.

Callers can be anonymous.

While the search continues for 13-year-old Cori Baker and 34-year-old Angie Tucker, family, friends and volunteers hope to improve efforts in finding the two.

Search group Texas EquuSearch packed up and left the state, but not before helping organizing more volunteers for Saturday's search.

A North Tulsa church now provides an extra headquarters for volunteers to gather before going out.

Church deacon and Tucker's brother Hyland Tucker says creating the new headquarters may increase support that he previously hasn't seen.

"There's a lot of ill-wills about what's going on with my sister, but the only way that people can help and that want to help is to come out and help search."

Tucker also hopes this new development will entice neighbors and those in the surrounding community to get involved.

Family members reported Cori Baker and Angie Tucker missing more than two weeks ago.  Both cases aren't related.

Tulsa World (Oklahoma)

December 8, 2007 Saturday
Search for missing teen expands to Taft area

Dec. 8--The search for missing 13-year-old Cori Baker was expanded this week into Muskogee County.

Volunteers and Tulsa police have begun searching for clues to her disappearance near the small town of Taft, west of Muskogee and a little more than 50 miles southeast of Tulsa, Sgt. Mike Huff said.

Cori was last seen almost a month ago, on Nov. 9, when police say she got into the car of her sister's boyfriend, Marquis Bullock, 18, outside the Union Alternative School, 5656 S. 129th East Ave.

Bullock was arrested a few days after Cori's disappearance on complaints of kidnapping and first-degree murder and has been held without being formally charged since.

Police, firefighters and volunteers have since searched the Arkansas River as well as parts of south and east Tulsa.

Bullock has family members from the Taft area, Huff said, and police are following leads that point to that area.

"We've gathered some forensic evidence that led us in that direction," he said.

Meanwhile, Texas EquuSearch, a Texas-based search group, has returned to assist in the search for Cori and for Angie Tucker, 34, who

also disappeared in November and also is feared to have met with foul play.

Tucker, a mother of two, was last seen Nov. 3 when she was leaving her mother's house at Apache Street and Yale Avenue.

The EquuSearch group had returned to Texas earlier this week but has since come back to help, Huff said.

Anyone with information about the disappearances of either Cori or Tucker is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.

Callers can remain anonymous.

Tulsa World (Oklahoma)
 December 13, 2007 Thursday
BRIEF: Man charged with murder in case of missing girl

Tulsa World, Okla.

Dec. 13--A Tulsa man was charged Thursday in the presumed death of a missing 13-year-old girl.

Marquis Milton Bullock, 18, was charged with one count of first-degree murder in the presumed death of Cori Baker, who was last seen leaving school Nov. 9 with a man matching Bullock's description and in a car matching the description of one owned by Bullock.

Volunteers, firefighters and police have conducted several extensive searches in Tulsa County and in Muskogee County for Bakers body, but to no avail.

Bullock, the boyfriend of Baker's sister, has been held without charge on complaints of kidnapping and first-degree murder since his Nov. 12 arrest, and his initial appearance has been delayed twice as investigators and volunteers searched for Baker's body.

Bullock's initial appearance is scheduled for Friday, and without being charged, a judge could have ordered him to be freed.

Tulsa World (Oklahoma)
 December 21, 2007 Friday

$5,000 reward set for missing girl: The teenager's family is hoping to find her body.

Dec. 21--A $5,000 reward from private donors is being offered for specific information that leads to the discovery of 13-year-old Cori Baker's body.

Cori was last seen alive Nov. 9, when her older sister's boyfriend, Marquis Bullock, picked her up from the Union Alternative School at 5656 S. 129th East Ave.

Bullock, 18, was arrested Nov. 12 in connection with her apparent homicide, and he was charged last week with first-degree murder.

Hundreds of people have searched for Cori since her disappearance, but they have found no sign of her.

Daniel Baker, Cori's father, said the family hopes that the reward might bring tips about where her body is.

Anyone with information that will lead police to Cori is asked to call 596-COPS or 911.

Cori's family members and volunteers are still searching for her daily, Baker said.

The searchers meet every day at 8 a.m. at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center, 7777 S. Lewis Ave., and search until 5 p.m., he said.

Anyone who wants to help in the search is welcome to join them, he said.

Baker said the family is pleased that the District Attorney's Office approved a murder charge against Bullock even without Cori's body having been found.

"We are so thankful to the DA and to law enforcement and to the investigators who have worked so hard and the long hours," he said.

"We had our own family meeting about how we would react if he was not charged and how we would handle it, but we are very, very relieved that he was charged."

Searchers find a way to help
A new group is searching for two missing Tulsans and plans other forms of service, as well.

Searches for two Tulsans who have been missing since November have inspired the formation of a new volunteer group.

Core -- or Citizens of Oklahoma Respond to Emergencies -- is an effort to aid authorities in situations ranging from missing-person searches to disaster response and recovery, founder Ron Van Voorhis said. Its creation was inspired by the extensive search efforts for Cori Baker, 13, and for Angie Tucker, 34.

Cori was last seen Nov. 9, when police say she got into the car of her sister's boyfriend, Marquis Bullock, outside Union Alternative School, 5656 S. 129th East Ave. Bullock was arrested and charged with her death, but Cori's body has not been found.

Tucker, a mother of two, disappeared Nov. 3 after leaving her mother's house at Apache Street and Yale Avenue.

Core conducted its first search for Cori on Jan. 20 along with a search-and-rescue dog group based in Creek County, Van Voorhis said.

This weekend, both groups held a canine-training exercise that also served as a search for Tucker, he said.

Van Voorhis' background includes driving an ambulance and working in the security field as well as working with local emergency management groups such as the Community Emergency Response Team and Tulsa Partners.

He has participated in the searches for Cori and Tucker as a volunteer independent of any group, he said.

That experience showed what resources -- such as search dogs, horses, all-ter rain vehicles and many volunteers -- are required to conduct such searches, he said.

Drawing on the group's mission of promoting the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor, Core also plans to volunteer during disasters.

Community needs that the group hopes to meet became apparent when the December ice storm interrupted the searches for Cori and Tucker, Van Voorhis said.

"The ice storm just highlighted a need," he said. "There are things we can do as neighbors helping neighbors to take care of ourselves."

The group has about 20 members now but would like to provide training and develop Core groups throughout the city so people can get in volved in their own neighborhoods.

Core's next search for Cori and Tucker will be Saturday. People who wish to assist are asked to gather at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center, 7777 S. Lewis Ave., at 9 a.m.

Both disappearances remain under active investigation by the police.

Tulsa homicide detective Sgt. Mike Huff said police appreciate the volunteer searchers' continued efforts.

Detectives just followed up on some tips that they recently received in the search for Cori, he said, "and we would appreciate anyone else calling in and providing new information."

Pregnant mother missing

 1/09 10:20 pm
(TULSA, Okla.) January 9 - Exactly one month ago a 24-year old pregnant woman went missing from her Tulsa home.  Police suspect foul play.

Jacqueline Nava disappeared on December 9, leaving behind her two toddlers and husband.

This is just the most recent disappearance in a string of missing girls and women in Green Country in the past few months.

Missing since November, 13-year old Cori Baker, then a mother Angie Tucker, 17-year old Anne Marie White and Jacqueline Nava.  Police believe all the women are either dead or in danger.

Now, Jose Rodriquez is pleading for his wife Jacqueline to come home.  Through an interpreter, Rodriquez told FOX23 News, he thinks she’ll return because she was a good mother.

Jacqueline and Jose got married 6 years ago.  They met in Mexico but moved to the United States to start a new life and a new family.

Police believe Jacqueline may have willingly left, but Jose says if she did she can't survive on her own because she can’t read or write.

Police say Jacqueline has disappeared before but this time they say not everything adds up.  “We'll try to get cell phones, credit cards, anything we can to trace it", says Corporal Gene Watkins.

Jacqueline didn't have a car, she didn't know how to drive and she didn't have a credit card.  “Somebody knows something, we're not here to get her in trouble. We're just trying to find out if she is a victim of crime."

Another month goes by and no sign of Jacqueline but Jose still has hope of finding her.

Police don't believe the Jose is a suspect.  However they believe she may have left with neighbors to California.

If you have any information about Jacqueline Nava or any of the other missing women, call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.

Tulsa World (Oklahoma)

February 14, 2008 Thursday

Murder suspect's hearing delayed; bail set

Feb. 14--A preliminary hearing has been pushed back a month for a Tulsan who is accused of murdering a missing girl.

The hearing for Marquis Bullock was scheduled for next week, but, over the defense's objection, Tulsa County Special Judge David Youll granted a request Wednesday by District Attorney Tim Harris to reschedule it for March 17.

Bullock, 19, is charged with the first-degree murder of Cori Baker of Tulsa.

Cori, 13, was last seen alive Nov. 9.

Over the prosecution's objection, Youll set bail Wednesday at $1 million for Bullock. At a Dec. 14 arraignment, Special Judge Millie Otey had ordered him held without bail.

Bullock has been in the Tulsa Jail for three months, including a month he spent in custody before a charge was filed.

In an affidavit filed with the court Tuesday, Harris stated that the Tulsa Police Department laboratory is conducting DNA testing regarding potential evidence that is "important and would be essential" to the prosecution's case.

A March 17 court date should ensure that there is time for the DNA analysis to be completed and to be reviewed by the parties before the hear ing,

Harris indicated.

In his affidavit, the district attorney said he anticipates that this hearing will be "lengthy."

Police said that on the day Cori was last seen alive, she got into the car of her sister's boyfriend, Bullock, outside Union Alternative School, 5656 S. 129th East Ave.

Police said Bullock gave inconsistent statements regarding his whereabouts on Nov. 9.

Psychic 'very confident' in case of missing Tulsa girl

Tue February 19, 2008
TULSA — A self-proclaimed psychic claims he knows the location of a missing Tulsa teen's body and said he will lead a team of volunteers to find the body this morning.

Jeff Baker, who claims paranormal abilities, said at a news conference that he contacted 13-year-old Cori Baker from beyond the grave to learn how she died and where to find her body. Cori has been missing since Nov. 9 and is presumed dead.

Jeff Baker, who is not related to Cori's family, sought to confirm details of the crime Monday night from Marquis Milton Bullock, 19, the man charged with Cori's murder.

"Cori came up with the location,” said Danny Baker, father of Cori Baker. "I definitely felt her presence.”

Jeff Baker said that the family will seek some leniency in sentencing for Bullock if he makes the confirmation before volunteers begin searching the area this morning.

Plans were for Bullock to talk from the Tulsa County jail by telephone with Jeff Baker.

"I'm not asking him to say, ‘I'm guilty' or anything like that,” Jeff Baker said.

Danny Baker said he had "one goal in mind — to find Cori.”

Details of the area and the manner of death were not revealed at the news conference.

"I'm very, very confident of the location,” said Jeff Baker, who says he has worked on hundreds of similar cases, most of them with a successful outcome for the family. His efforts earlier this month in Woodward provided no new information in the case of a missing 6-year-old there.

The search could take all day or be over in a manner of minutes, the psychic said.

Danny Baker said he told a few family members, but not all, of the details of Cori's death that were recounted by the psychic. No one was told the location where Jeff Baker thinks searchers will find Cori's body.

Cori's disappearance
Cori Baker was picked up at Union Alternative School by Bullock, a boyfriend of her older sister. She was seen later on a surveillance tape at a Wal-Mart store.

Several areas in Tulsa and surrounding communities have been searched by volunteers, police and firefighters on foot, horseback, boat and helicopter

The Oklahoman (Oklahoma City, OK)

February 20, 2008 Wednesday

Missing teen's body not found in search;
Psychic says suspect gave details to cemetery site.

BROKEN ARROW - A search for the body of a Tulsa teenager missing since November and presumed dead was unsuccessful Tuesday.

Self-proclaimed psychic Jeff Baker claimed that last week he pinpointed the missing girl's location by communicating with her from beyond the grave in a "mediumship" where she spoke to Baker and her father.

Baker said he communicated with Cori again Monday night before calling Marquis Bullock, 19, who is charged in her death.

Jeff Baker said he didn't tell Bullock the location Cori shared with him but Bullock provided the same location in a telephone call Monday night.

Baker hadn't spoken publicly about the site before Tuesday, when the search resumed.

Site near her home About 25 volunteers searched an undeveloped area of Floral Haven Memorial Gardens on Tuesday but turned up no evidence of a body.

The search began at 8 a.m. and lasted about eight hours. Baker said the search would continue today.

The Floral Haven site was searched after the girl's disappearance Nov. 9.

The site is within four miles of her home and the Union Alternative School, where she was picked up by Bullock, a friend of an older sister.

Jeff Baker said Tuesday that he thinks Cori Baker was killed at another location and her body taken to the cemetery location.

The heavily wooded search site includes rough terrain and various types of debris.

It is located on the western edge of the cemetery and is bordered by an industrial area on the north.

Bullock is being held in the Tulsa County jail on first-degree murder charges.

Bail has been set at $1 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 17.
