Klaas, the tree looks great!  Everyone does, all dressed up for Christmas.  I just got an e-mail that made me think of the Monkeys:

A different kind of recipe:
It's one part dedication, a sprinkling of outrage, and a generous dose of optimism swirled with creativity. It's a pinch of persistence mixed with an ounce of courage. It's a cupful of attitude and a crisp slice of activism. It's a generous serving of YOU, and it makes a world of difference.

Thank you for standing alongside me in the kitchen and serving up a better world. I'm so thankful that, like me, you believe in what we can achieve together.

This is snipped in several places to "generalize" it.  It's actually from Greenpeace, but the message that I gleened from it applies to all who are standing together, keeping each other strong, to make the world a better place.  Something to be thankful for.

Beautiful expression, LilPuma. Thanks for posting that.

Trying to make tomorrow better. I love the hope that sentiment expresses.

I hope your TDay was warm and fulfilling.

I think mine was a little TOO fulfilling -- but thanks to CBB, I had a new (and more roomy) outfit to change into this morning Laughing

Not sure where to post this.... a few days old... but this statement
"Mississippi Police Chief Says Missing Student Ignored Due to Race"
about  Latasha Norman  ~~~ "As far as the interest by the national media in the story, I think race probably had an impact," said Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin"

This just rubs me the wrong way.  I wonder what he would say if the MSM swarm showed up at his door wanting info.. on the investigation, what they have done, where they are at and what the public could to to assist.
JMO of course

OH.. Hi Monkeys... hope everone had a great Turkey Day

Hi...oldfart...been checking on a lot of missing persons cases and there is not much news on any of them. Think it's because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Don't think anyone is ignoring any one case.

Hey there SuzieQ   I'm sorry you are having a hard time with posting because of your dial-up. Sad  I've been doing a lot of reading, since there is so much going on at the Natalee thread.  I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, I surely did. Very Happy  It was wonderful having family and friends together.  I'm glad to see stirrings in Natalee's case.

I got my livingroom all painted today.  Tomorrow the dining room and the hallway.  We built our new home 8 years ago, so I thought it was time for fresh coat of paint inside.

Anyone else doing home improvement projects?

The only thing with home improvement projects is they tend to multiply.  Once you get the living room done, the dining room looks bad and then it needs to be done and then the kitchen begins to need a spruce up...we did our bathroom this summer and now I am so wanting to redo the kitchen..it never ends.  Hope your projects turn out well.

I did take the time to go to CNN and vote for Pat. He is one heck of a kiddo. I did hear the Dana Show when he was interviewed along with his Mumma. All of those people are heroes. But for a child, he had lots of grace and emotional intelligence. Put many adults I know to shame.

Company Recalls Cheese Over Bacteria Fear
Saturday , November 24, 2007

 PHILADELPHIA, Tenn. —

A Tennessee company is recalling cheese sold in seven states and distributed nationwide in gift baskets that could be contaminated with dangerous bacteria. No illnesses have been reported.

Sweetwater Valley Farms Inc. said its Southern Cheddar Jack Volunteer Special Cheese was distributed in 7-, 10-, 15-ounce and 5-pound blocks sold in retail stores in Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland and Alabama.

The cheese from lot number 539 was distributed between Sept. 19 and Nov. 18. It was also potentially distributed across the continental U.S. in gift baskets sold on the company's Web site.

Another Tennessee-based wholesaler, Le Gourmet Connection, said it sold 10-ounce blocks of the cheese through Jungle Jim's International Market in Fairfield, Ohio, between Aug. 28 and Nov. 19.

Sweetwater Valley Farms said the product could be contaminated with Listeria monocytongenes, a bacteria that can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Short-term symptoms in healthier people include high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The contamination was discovered in a routine sampling by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The company said in a news release that is investigating how the contamination happened. A phone message seeking more details was not immediately returned on Friday.

Customers are urged to discard the product or return it for a full refund. They can call (877) 862-4332 for more information.

New York case focuses on monkey meat   Shocked Shocked
By Tom Hays, Associated Press
http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2007-11-24-monkeymeat_N.htm
NEW YORK — From her baptism in Liberia to Christmas years later in her adopted New York City, Mamie Manneh never lost the longing to celebrate religious rituals by eating monkey meat.

Now, the tribal customs of Manneh and other West African immigrants have become the focus of an unusual criminal case charging her with meat smuggling, and touching on issues of religious freedom, infectious diseases and wildlife preservation.

The case "appears to be the first of its kind relating to that uniquely African product," defense attorney Jan Rostal wrote in a pending motion to dismiss. "Unfortunately, it represents the sort of clash of cultural and religious values inherent in the melting pot that is America."

At the center of the case in federal court is a modest woman with nine children and a history of domestic discord.

Manneh, 39, is serving a two-year sentence in state prison for trying to run over a woman she suspected of sleeping with her husband, Zanger Jefferson. If convicted of the federal charges she faces up to five more years in prison and deportation.
