Joran: The only thing that I can think of is my family. I do what my family
tells me to do. Right, +++++.
Deepak: Your own father, unbelievable.
Joran: What my father, it is your fault that he is arrested. I didn't
declare anything against my father, you two declared against my father
Satish: We didn't declare anything.
Joran: Or course, you did.
Satish: What did I tell against your father?
Joran: You are telling that he declared, that if there is no body [lijk =
dead body], there is no case or I don't what. All shit. That is totally not
true, the only thing is that he said is, if there is no body [lichaam =
body], then there isn't a case.
Deepak: Yes, that's true.
Joran: That's not true.
Deepak: I also said in my statement, that it wasn't meant like that.
Joran: Didn't read it in your statement. They use that now against my
father.
Deepak: We suffered a lot because of you.
Joran: That's the price that you let my father pay. That you let him suffer
like that. f*** you. If you let me suffer, I say ok. It doesn't matter to
me. I can just sit here for 160 days. It doesn't make a f***ing difference
to me. I'm sitting good here.

************************************************************
Deepak says they have suffered a lot because of Joran. That would follow Joran's story of them not really being involved, but he mightily defends his Father, and any threat to Paulus really seems to push his buttons. Joran told Patrick that this "man" that assisted him meant a lot to him, he had known him since he was a kid, and that he would give his life for him.

Freedom of the press in the Netherlands Antilles?

This copy and paste article may seem off topic but I promise I will follow up~

Minister Omayra Leeflang wants to establish two media councils: one for the Windward Islands and one for Bonaire and Curaçao. The main task of these councils will be the establishment of a code for advertising and a code of conduct for journalism. The councils also will have to deal with complaints about advertising and journalistic behaviour.

The board is to consist of an independent president and four other members who will be recommended by radio broadcasters, print media, TV broadcasters, and advertisers.

SMWA was the most vocal in its criticism of the draft media law, putting forward several objections and concerns. SMWA spokesman Hilbert Haar said it was extremely worrying that the draft media law would give a five-member council a blank cheque to set up an advertising code and a code of conduct for journalism. According to SMWA, the content of these codes would be beyond democratic control.

I just did a little refreshing of my memory with the car tape and am bringing this excerpt here, in light of recent events, for your thoughts..............

Joran: The only thing that I can think of is my family. I do what my family
tells me to do. Right, +++++.
Deepak: Your own father, unbelievable.

Joran: What my father, it is your fault that he is arrested. I didn't

**********************************************************

Those first 2 sentences made me immediately think of Joran's story to Patrick. He told him that his "friend" that night told him to go home, go to school, act normal. ( I do what my family tells me to do)

And Deepak's response is about Joran's father ( your own Father, unbelievable.........)

I really do think it was Paulus that Joran turned to for help.
Is Urine implying with this excerpt from the above post...that HE/Urine got to read Deepak's PV ?

*Deepak: I also said in my statement, that it wasn't meant like that.
Joran: Didn't read it in your statement. They use that now against my
father.*

Blonde, this certainly supports the seizure story Joran told and I hope Hans Mos is smart enough to put it in the brief that they presented to the judges of appeal.

If they didn't they are just plain stupid.

Yep, and also note the time on the search. She was either taken back to the Sloot house, or she was there all along and she was put at sea the night of the 31st. He wasn't searching until the night after Natalee went missing...I have always maintained she was not disposed of (sorry Sad ) until the night of 5/31.

Ono,

I like your style, but why not expand it and if you're going to dig into the archives, why not dredge up Tito's boyfriend Ruben Trapenburg, or the transvestite Art, I mean, Arlene Schippers?

Seems boeti, the beach bum, never had his story questioned, and I'm guessing he's not unfamiliar with marijuana?

I just smoked a joint and found no thoughts of throwing anyone off a boat when they are alive...

But I can't find the Chips Ahoy...

I don't get the whole thing about mysteriously being compelled to lie while stoned. I mean, trying to keep track of an elaborate scenario with all those details while stoned would be way too much work when you're high! And DeVries said this wasn't one conversation but took place over 5 days and some of the conversations where Joran talked about it were a week apart. Not only would you have to create the story, but then you'd have to be able to conjure up all those details again and again! Admittedly, it's been a long time for me, but unless pot today isn't near as good as pot used to be, searching for the Chips Ahoy Bag is all the work you're motivated to do and that's driven by munchie-itis!

Yep, plus if he was that high, he would have forgotten who Natalee Holloway was and said Who??

From GretaWire

R Producer Tim Silfies is in Aruba….timsilfies.jpg

….and he just emailed me this press release from the Public Prosecutor…pay particular attention to the remarks about the media and then POST YOUR THOUGHT about it right here…should the media put some more distance? or continue to report aggressively? What do you think?

press release

Postbus 1163, Oranjestad, Aruba ,

Havenstraat 2

Oranjestad, Aruba
To all media
From the Public Prosecutor’s Office
Date February 8, 2008
Pages 1

J.v.d.S. interrogated at Police Station in Rotterdam

This morning, between 10:00 – 12:30 hours (Netherlands time) the police interrogated J.v.d.S. at a police station in Rotterdam. J.v.d.S. was interrogated by police officers of the Aruban Police Department and the Netherlands National Police Department. His lawyer was present during the interrogation, which lasted about two hours.

During the interrogation J.v.d.S. indicated that during the conversations he had in the car he was under the influence of marihuana. Furthermore, he sticks to his statements made earlier during the investigation. He denies to have anything to do with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.

The decision of the Court of Appeal of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba is crucial to the possibility of further interrogations of J.v.d.S.

As already stated on February 5, 2008, the Public Prosecutor’s Office lodged an appeal against the decision of the investigating judge to deny the re-detention of J.v.d.S.. The decision of the Court of Appeal is not expected until after the weekend.

Under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Aruban Police Department is still investigating this case. In the interest of the investigation, the Public Prosecutor’s Office appeals to the press to please refrain from a witch-hunt or private investigations or fishing expeditions (all this in the broadest sense of the word),

The Public Prosecutor’s Office doesn’t fail to notice that the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway draws a lot of interest from media and general public. However, this interest seems to be turning into a witch-hunt in which several persons are being harassed.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office regards this as not acceptable. In the first place, without any confirmation persons are being labeled as a suspect, and harassed as such. In the second place, journalistic investigations and the subsequent reporting thereof, at a time the investigative team is still busy trying to get an answer to many questions, can seriously harm the criminal investigation. Not only does it cause a lot of unrest, or may generate misinformation, it may also harm the outcome of the investigation itself, e.g. when witnesses questioned by the judge at trial can’t be sure if they witnessed something themselves or they know a fact from the media.

Without questioning the value of freedom of the press, it would be desirable if the press would act a little distantly for aforementioned reasons.

For any further information, you can call:

Greta should make her own judgement call.  Europe and Canada do not have a 1st Amendment - FREEDOM OF SPEECH - so Europe doesn't know how to handle it, nor do they like it.  The appearance of the lack of resolve to seriously adjudicate matters regarding this case is what has everyone [ who has been paying attention for the last almost three years ] in an uproar - and is not the media's fault, imo.  Our United States Constitution quarantees Americans Freedom of Speech as so set forth in our First Amendment.

7:37 pm: Paulus googles "alcohol", beer", and "drugs". Visits sites containing information on alcohol and drugs, the dangers of these for young people, and a lawyer's office. The sites are visited only briefly.

Then calls LORENZO

Blonde, this certainly supports the seizure story Joran told and I hope Hans Mos is smart enough to put it in the brief that they presented to the judges of appeal.

YEP! Sure does! There's another piece of info out there that we're just going to HAVE to revisit to see if it makes more sense and collaborates Joran's confession, as well. THE CAR TAPES!!!

You also have Satish asking Deepak the next day ,"How is the girl?" WHY WOULD HE ASK THAT?

That is correct....she was taken to the Sloot's in a coma, perhaps.

MERCHANTS’ LAWSUIT

Some merchants are quite upset with the latest developments surrounding the case of Natalee Holloway, and expressed on Thursday that they are preparing a case against the complete production of Dr. Phil in the U.S.

This deals especially with the merchants whose business interests is that they do a lot of business with the U.S. The latest statements from this TV host is inflicting and continues to inflict damage to our island.

Thursday they were in contact with at least one very popular law firm in the U.S. in order to evaluate a possible lawsuit against Dr. Phil. It seems that the lawyers in the U.S. are convening to give the merchants from Aruba an answer about their questions if there is space for said lawsuit.

http://getagripmonkey.blogspot.com/2005/11/merchants-in-aruba-are-upset-arubans.html

So maybe "the merchants" (? windsurfing?, bar owners, ....) decided to keep Aruba's name out of it and back K2??

Another oldie but goody......

To Whom It May Concern;

I posted these two tips on a news station but will pass them on again to be certain they get to the proper authorities...
1. While visiting Aruba Feb 05 we went to Arashi beach one day. We met a young man I believe to be Jordan Van Der Sloot who was walking a large dog on the beach. My two kids were very excited to see the dog and enjoyed giving him a few pats as they love dogs. In the ensuing conversation this individual commented that he was house sitting and therefore caring for the owners dog as well. I wondered last night, if in fact the police and others investigating Natalees disapearance were aware that this person may have had access to an unoccupied residence in that area, where a crime could have taken place.
