Volunteers still looking for pregnant Houston woman

Feb. 7, 2008, 5:38PM
Volunteers with Texas EquuSearch are expected to continue combing an area in northwest Harris County Friday as they look for a pregnant woman who disappeared last week during an apparent quarrel with her boyfriend.

Tierra Adams, 25, was last seen Jan. 29 near North Houston Rosslyn and Texas 249.

On Thursday, about 35 volunteers joined the effort to find Adams, who is nine months pregnant. Some were on foot while others used all-terrain vehicles at a nearby abandoned housing development.

"We searched a lot of area today but haven't come up with anything positive yet," said EquuSearch official Frank Black. "Some of the areas have been gone over two or three times."

Volunteers also climbed into the sewer system after discovering several open manholes in the area.

Houston police said Adams was in a car with her boyfriend when the two began arguing.

"According to the boyfriend, she got out of the car because she was upset," said John Cannon, a Houston police spokesman.

Police said the boyfriend then drove away. Police have questioned him and said Thursday that no evidence exists at this point to indicate foul play.

EquuSearch officials said Thursday they haven't received any tips about possible sightings.

"That's not normally a good sign," Black said.

Black said another round of searching will beginabout 8:30 a.m. Friday. The area will be expanded but still centered on where Adams' was last seen.

The command center for the search is based at The Church at Willow Park, 12650 N. Houston Rosslyn. Volunteers must be at least 18.

Adams is 5-feet-6 and weighs about 200 pounds. She had black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing white capri pants and a black and white shirt.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact Houston police at 713-731-5353.

Homicide officers look closely at missing pregnant woman case
Expectant mom was last seen a week ago, only days before she was to give birth

Feb. 8, 2008, 9:59PM
The search continued Friday for a missing pregnant woman who hasn't been seen since her boyfriend left her alone near a northwest Harris County road more than a week ago after an argument.

Although investigators have found no evidence of foul play in Tierra Adams' disappearance, the Houston Police Department's homicide division announced Friday it would take a closer look at her case, said John Cannon, a spokesman for the Houston Police Department.

"We want to make sure every stone is turned," Cannon said.

So as EquuSearch volunteers continued to comb the area where Adams was last seen, police reinterviewed the woman's mother and older sister on Friday. Family said the woman is just days away from giving birth and would not have disappeared without telling them. Adams, 25, was looking forward to the birth of her first child, a girl, and had discussed baby names with her sister, a relative said.

On Friday, volunteers rode horses and all-terrain vehicles through fields and brushy areas along Texas 249 and North Houston Rosslyn, where the woman's boyfriend said he last saw Adams about 1 a.m. Jan. 29.

Houston police said Adams was in a car with her boyfriend when the two began arguing.

The boyfriend said Adams left the car because she was upset with him. The boyfriend told police that he then drove away. Police said there's no evidence to indicate foul play involving the boyfriend.

But Adams' family and friends said they are upset that anyone would leave a pregnant woman on the roadside, alone.

As time passes, the family can't help but fear the worst for Adams and her unborn child, said Jan Brown, a family friend.

Tim Miller, founder of the equine search group, said he is particularly worried about the pregnant woman's whereabouts because no leads or sightings have been reported. More volunteers are expected to continue to look for Adams today.

"We stand frustrated right now. We feel Tierra is in some type of danger," Miller said. "I think we have a lot of reasons to be concerned."

Another young pregnant Mom......another boyfriend who probably didn't want to pay child support.
If she's not in a hospital somewhere, she's probably deceased, and he more than likely did it.
God bless her family. This has to be tough.

Search continues for missing pregnant woman with Thursday due date

Wednesday, February 13, 2008
HOUSTON -- The search continues Wednesday for a  missing pregnant woman in northwest Houston.

Crews will use a church at Willow Park as the staging area.

Tierra Adams, 25, has been missing for about 15 days, and the search has reached a critical point, because she'd due to give birth Thursday.

More than 20 searchers with Texas EquuSearch have been looking for her from the ground and in the air, and now they are expanding their search area.

Adams was last seen Jan. 29 around 1 a.m., not long after she and her boyfriend had an argument on the way to her mother's house.

Her family is worried because during the argument, she got out of the car on the side of the road.

"Being out here in the dark, you know, anything could have happened," said Frank Black with Texas EquuSearch. "And no one has seen here. There've been no tips or leads as to her being seen any place, and that bothers us."

The boyfriend has not helped in the search, but he is not considered a suspect.

He's not looking.....because he probably knows where she is.
What kind of jerk leaves a woman in an advanced stage of pregnancy alone on the side of the road anyway? If that turns out to be the case, which I doubt, he must be a real jackass anyway. I think, more than likely, he did something to her.

Houston Authorities Suspend Search for Missing Pregnant Woman Near Due Date

Wednesday, February 13, 2008
A Houston search for a missing pregnant woman whose due date is fast approaching has been suspended until investigators uncover new information, Click2Houston.com reports.

Tierra Adams, 25, has been missing for 15 days, and is due to give birth Thursday. Texas EquuSearch crews had been conducting ground and air searches for Adams before crews suspended the search.

Adams was last seen on Jan. 29 around 1 a.m., after she and her boyfriend reportedly fought on the way to her mother's house, khou.com reports.

Adams family says during the argument she got out of the car on the side of the road.

"Being out here in the dark, you know, anything could have happened," Frank Black of Texas EquuSearch told khou.com. "And no one has seen her. There have been no tips or leads as to her being seen any place, and that bothers us."

Adams' boyfriend has not contributed to the search, but is not currently considered a suspect, khou.com reports.

This is so sad. Two lives are at stake here, and one of them so innocent. I'm just sick about this young woman, and her baby, and I'm praying for a miracle this time.

Pregnant Woman Remains Missing On Due Date

POSTED: 5:25 pm CST February 14, 2008

HOUSTON -- Police released a new picture of a missing pregnant woman whose due date was Valentine's Day and said they want to ask her boyfriend more questions about her disappearance.

Tierra Lechall Adams, 25, was last seen on Jan. 28. She was expected to give birth on Thursday.

"I just want to know what happened to my daughter. I know she's had problems in the past, but still, she wanted this baby. She was looking forward to having a baby. She came home and saw all the things the baby already had waiting on him. It just doesn't sound like something Tierra would do," said Rose Adams-Itive, Tierra's mother.

Adams-Itive said she is upset that her daughter's boyfriend, Neriah Roberts, never reported her missing.

She said he told her that the two got into an argument after he caught Adams smoking in his house and he dropped her off in the 12200 block of North Houston Rosslyn Road near State Highway 249 at 1 a.m.

Police said Roberts gave an initial statement, but has refused to help with any other part of the investigation.

"We're hoping he will cooperate. We're not quite sure why -- what his motivation is with refusing to cooperate. He's given us some reasons. We're still working on that," said Lt. Murray Smith with the Houston Police Department.

Police said they circulated the new picture of Adams to local hospitals in hopes that someone will recognize her.

Investigators said Adams was released from a correctional facility on Jan. 25 and stayed with Roberts until her disappearance.

Adams is black, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 200 pounds. She was last seen wearing white Capri pants and a black-and-white shirt.

Anyone who has seen Adams is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-22

Body of missing pregnant woman found

HUNTSVILLE, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities say the body of missing pregnant woman was found yesterday in Hunstville.

Tierra Adams, 25, was nine months pregnant when she vanished in Houston back on January 29. Authorities did initially talk to her boyfriend, Neriah Roberts. Police say he gave an initial statement in which he told them he dropped her off on the side of the road near Highway 249 and 290 after having an argument with her. But since then, police say, he has not been cooperative.

There's no word on how she died, but police say the baby was still inside her when they found her body.

Volunteers had searched the area but found no signs of the 25-year-old. Her due date was back on Valentine's Day.

Hogs, Buzzards Unearth Body Believed to Be Missing Pregnant Woman

April 01, 2008
HUNTSVILLE, Texas —  The decomposed body of a missing 25-year-old pregnant woman from Houston turned up 75 miles north of the city. It was unearthed from a shallow grave by feral hogs and circling buzzards, authorities said.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner's office in Dallas County for official identification. But officials acknowledged Monday that tattoos and clothing helped them identify the body as expectant mother Tierra Adams, missing since late January.

Rose Adams Itive, Adams' mother, said her daughter has "Tierra" tattooed across her stomach. Law enforcement officials told her the body has such a tattoo.

Adams was last seen Jan. 29 following an argument with her boyfriend over her smoking during pregnancy, Adams said.

Walker County Sheriff Clint R. McRae said investigators are interviewing suspects. It could become a capital murder case because of the death of the unborn child.

This is so sad.  It reminds me of another case that was posted here at Scared Monkeys.  In a similar story,  the boyfriend said he got into  an argument with his pregnant girlfriend and he dropped her off at the side of the road and that's the last he saw of her. What kind of man would leave a woman (let alone a very pregnant one, at that!) along  the side  of the road?  It turned out he did in fact kill her.  I wonder if that will be how this case works out also?

Police charge boyfriend in pregnant woman's death

Authorities on Thursday searched for a man charged with murder in the death of his pregnant girlfriend, whose body was found in a shallow grave in Walker County.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Neriah Louis Roberts, 28, said Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae. Authorities suspect Roberts killed 25-year-old Tierra Adams of Houston.

"At this time, he has not been located," McRae said. "We continue to try to locate him."

Adams' mother reported her missing on Feb. 1 to Houston police.

Roberts told Houston investigators that he and Adams had an argument over her smoking. He told authorities that Adams got out of his car near the intersection of West Houston and Rosslyn about 1 a.m. Jan. 29.

Roberts was the father of Adams' baby. Adams' body was discovered on March 26.

Authorities ask anyone with information about Roberts' whereabouts to call the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 936-435-2400.

Fugitive indicted in murder
By Cody Stark Staff Reporter
March 30, 2012

HUNTSVILLE — The Walker County District Attorney’s Office decided to move forward with murder charges stemming from the death of a Houston woman four years ago in hopes of bringing her killer to justice.

A grand jury  indicted Neriah Louis Roberts of Houston on Wednesday for first-degree murder inr the death of Tierra Lechall Adams, a 25-year-old pregnant woman whose body was found March 26, 2008, in a shallow grave off Pinedale Road east of Interstate 45 in Walker County.

Adams went missing on Jan. 25, 2008, and shortly after, Roberts, who was the victim’s boyfriend, fled the country.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office eight days after Adams’ body was discovered.

Records show that Roberts flew to Venezuela, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

“We have been working on finding Roberts and dealing with other issues with this case, but as we have gone through the process, we decided to take it to the grand jury,” District Attorney David Weeks said Friday. “We figured that if we indicted him for murder and not capital murder where the death penalty would be an option, that it might be easier to extradite him once he is apprehended.”
