Deadline for van der Sloot Close; Natalee's Parents Worry Strings Being Pulled

The legal team for Joran van der Sloot - the main suspect in Natalee Holloway's disappearance - now has just a few hours left to argue why he should not be re-arrested.

A Dutch Appeals Court says van der Sloot's lawyers have until Wednesday to fight to keep his secretly taped confession from being used against him in court.

Beth and Dave Holloway say Joran van der Sloot's hidden camera interview broadcast on Dutch television a week ago Sunday confirms what they've always believed happened to Natalee. What they say they can't believe are the special legal favors van der Sloot seems to be receiving.

Beth and Dave Holloway say Joran van der Sloot's hidden camera interview broadcast on Dutch television a week ago Sunday confirms what they've always believed happened to Natalee.

What they say they can't believe are the special legal favors van der Sloot seems to be receiving.

In that hidden camera conversation, van der Sloot revealed, while he was in jail, his father - a dutch lawyer and judge in training- had a cell phone delivered to his son. In the conversation, Van der Sloot goes on to curse his father for not putting more minutes on the phone.

"Apparently some strings were pulled. How do you get a cell phone into a prison? How much more has been done?," questions Natalee's father Dave Holloway.

Beth Holloway says she believes Paul van der Sloot has been advising his son since the beginning: she suspects Joran van der Sloot called his dad when Natalee passed out on the beach - and the legally savvy Paul van der Sloot orchestrated what to do next: to send his son home to log onto the internet and then go to school the next morning. "That's why the interrogators could never break Joran - they'd have him at the breaking point and all he had to do was call dad and get that guidance, constantly what to say - how to say it - what was the latest story we were sticking with," says Natalee's mom Beth Holloway.

Natalee's parents also question the police investigation: they believe Joran van der Sloot must have told detectives early on that he was with Natalee when she died and about her shaking and foaming at the mouth, details that were supposedly first revealed in van der Sloot's hidden camera conversation was broadcasted.Natalee's parents explain detectives asked them a strange question when they first got to aruba that now make sense to them in light of van der Sloot's confession. "They only asked me one medical question - only one. Did she have a history of seizures or epilepsy?," says Beth Holloway.

Natalee's parents also say it's suspicious that the same police investigator always questions van der Sloot. The Holloways may never get all the answers, but Beth Holloway says- as painful as it is - at least she's now sure of the big picture.

"Which is the worst hell, if I weigh them - knowing versus not knowing?"

Beth Holloway says at least she now has answers. She knows Natalee is no longer hurting and no longer afraid. She knows her daughter is gone.

"Knowing - even though it's difficult - to hear him and hear his utter disregard for any other human existence other than his own - it's sickening - but it's still not the tortuous daily journey of not knowing," says Beth.

If the Dutch Appeals Court refuses to allow police to re-arrest van der Sloot, Beth Holloway believes the Aruban Ministry of Justice will charge van der Sloot anyway and try him for Natalee's murder. The Dutch Appeals Court says it may decide by the end of the week if van der Sloot's secretly taped conversation can be used against him and whether he'll be taken into custody for a third time.

Hello everyone,
Finally I have been accepted to post.Thankyou Klaas!

Gee whiz! I don't know as I have anything to add except for more mystery but I do have an observation I'd like to point out.I've watched that Aru-Bay video#24 several times and find it to be extremly disturbing as though I'm watching a *black mailers* dream.I noticed that when the one person gets out of the car and is filming the pond and bag in the basin, the interview with the security gaurd is still playing loud and clear on the radio on the film. How is this done?
I have watched that video 100+ times I think it was made to clear the Security Guards and to prove  what really happend to Natalee.
I believe in my heart she is in that bag.
I pray that the moving of that bag is from the water, and  not her.
I will make a thred of my finding of video 24 today.

I've been wondering the same thing though I'm not holding my breath..I think Peter De Vries needs to infiltrate the entire island for an amount of time needed to gain confidence. He would probably know how that could be done the best.Send in several and all of them into different locations and put them amoung the who's who so to speak right down to the card dealers and doper's..It would take time but I feel if they arrest Jo-ran right now,he may get 6 months for disposing a body and that is just unacceptable for me.Papa Sloot going in and out of the comfy jail cell bringing him cell phones and porn magazines and such just makes my skin crawl.I'd like to see justice for Natalee paid in full by all that are guilty of her demise and that includes Papa Sloot...Ugh...

Hey, Tot, yeah...I'm concerned that if there's not enough evidence JVDS he'll only get convicted of a more minor offense and serve little time.  We want the full shabang - murder and life in prison.  We all know it, therer just needs to be enough proof.  I wish K2 would crack - make a deal if they have to.  And, let's get the ring leaders - papa vds and ALE, and anyone else.  I'm convinced the corruption there goes deep, deep, deep.

I don't think it's likely that the decision will be made today to allow him to be arrested. It seems like the appeals level tends to favour the accused not the prosecution.

As for a trial and punishment, I think it's so unlikely that he would ever be prosecuted for murder that at this point, I'd be pleased to see him get 6 months and no compensation from the government for his previous detainments. His anticipation in the video of getting compensation is one of the most sickening things to me, and it frightens me to think that it's actually possible that he could get money from the government for this when he's so clearly responsible, one way or another.

Good morning monkeys..I remember there was talk of a missing video in those Aru-Bay vids...has it ever turned up? I try to read as much as I can but have to jump ahead to keep up so if this has been answered I have missed it.

I know it's well into the afternoon in Holland, wondering if there's any news any has heard...TIA.

I stand with the Girl and I want you all here to know that and hope the truth of this seemingly never-ending saga will be resolved soon. God Bless you all and most of all God Bless Natalee and her family.

I'm dangerous when I do alot of thinking but here goes..You know, You-ran getting 6 months would be a very small sacrifice in order to save the skins of all involved and I definitly think this is a possiblity of being done..I smell the rat stinking already..

Court decides later on the arrest of Joran

ORANJESTAD – The Public Prosecutor (OM) announced yesterday that the Common Court of Justice of the Neth.Antilles and Aruba won’t decide on a possible arrest of Joran van der Sloot tomorrow, because it was decided that the Dutch lawyer of Van der Sloot gets till Wednesday to give his vision on the case.

The examining magistrate decided two weeks ago that the confessions of Van der Sloot that were secretly recorded by Peter R. de Vries, are not enough for arresting him in the Netherlands.  The OM that attaches much importance to the statements of the suspect, lodged an objection to the decision.  Expectations were that the objection would be honoured or not after last weekend.  The OM has till Friday afternoon to submit all relevant information on the suspect.  One day before that, on Thursday, Van der Sloot was voluntarily interrogated by detectives of the Aruban police and of the Corps National Police services (KLPD) in Rotterdam, as a result of the recordings.  With that interrogation and with supplemental investigation, the OM wanted to gather sufficient evidence to arrest the suspect a third time due to his participation in the Holloway-case.  After earlier arrests of the suspect, the examining magistrate is now making very high demands in order to approve the custody.

The minister of Justice, Rudy Croes has declared Joran van der Sloot, who is suspected of having murdered Natalee Holloway, persona non grata.  Other than for judicial investigation, Joran van der Sloot is no longer welcome on the island.

The ministry of Justice also proposes this vote of censure in the light of a package of measures to tackle criminality problems among Aruban and Antillean young persons in the Netherlands that is agreed upon in the Dutch cabinet.  The Dutch Justice-minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin is preparing a law that makes it possible to send them back to Aruba or the Antilles if necessary.  “Let Joran be the first example of a Dutchman that is not wanted in Aruba”, said the minister, who also knows that judicially, it’s going to be difficult to really deny him admission to the country.  “I simply do not want him here.”

Hi Jules...

It's obvious that he is already, and has been getting a lot of money from somewhere/one...to support the life style he is used to, he REQUIRES money...it's a staple in his diet...just the fact that he does get it..with no limitations it seems...speaks volumes to me.  Yes, he is one sick a$$hole.

Jules IMO 6 months would be like a slap in the face to Natalee's family......

Vandir van Loon has a big boat that was moored outside the Soul Beach Festival and had a big "PARTAY! " Also Vandir has no apparent source of income so rumor has it that he deals.

was this rumour or fact?

Most of the info on Vadir came from Bondia/Glenda/Renfro, does that answer your question?

As far as hearing a decision today if JVDS will be detained, I don't think it will happen today. I believe now it may not be until tomorrow or Friday.

IIRC it was posted that Taco's fee alone was $750 an hour...
