caroleegadsby@aol.com http://www.myspace.com/kidsrightsrmyworldSingle Foster Mom/Exotic Dancer, fighting for her 2 foster daughters that
were kidnapped with "bogus" custody orders, has taken it to a National
level pressing the Judiciary Committee for a bill to create a National
Child Custody Database!
Angola, IN. January 29, 2008.- Carolee is a single Mom fighting for
something very near and dear to her heart. Along with the help of Sen.
Lugar she has already made it to Washington writing the initial draft of
the bill herself mirroring it after BILL S. 632 which would help repair
flaws to the Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act of 1980. She was compelled
to help other children after her foster daughters were kidnapped by the
biological parents.
Carolee decided to research this idea after her 10 yr. old foster daughter
asked upon her return from being kidnapped with , as the Judge in this
case stated, "Bogus" custody orders for 5 days by her biological parents."
Mom, can't all Judges know where all kids are suppose to be?"
Senator Lugar's press secretary Andy Fisher stated to the Angola Herald
Republican "A new bill is in it's very early stages.' & "It's sort of
critical to get the bill started with a member of the judiciary committee."
Carolee has had custody of this two young girls since March of 2004
through a order of dependency and neglect. The biological parents obtained
the bogus custody order from Michigan. The children reside with their
foster Mom in Indiana. Carolee has her girls back and states she wants to
adopt the girls. The next hearing is on Feb. 11th with the paternal
grandparents requesting grandparent rights & visitation. The final hearing
for the custody dispute with the parents is Mar. 24th. Both hearings will
be held in Calhoun Co. court house in Battle Creek, MI. The friend of the
court investigator has recommended that Carolee be granted Full Sole
permanent legal & physical custody. She feels very confident with her case
and states she just wants to protect other children in the future.
She is requesting to reintroduce BILL S.632 which is to form some type of
national database for child custody orders. Sen. Domenici of NM tried and
failed in 1985 to get this passed along with several other Senators & the
backing of the ABA. This BILL prevents parents or others from going state
to state till they find a judge to give them custody because the Judge has
no way to obtain data on any past orders in other states or other counties
for that matter. After filing with Washington she has collect information
from many police officers regarding the fact the have no way to obtain
information when trying to figure out a custody dispute when they go out
on a call and no one has copies of their court orders in their back
pocket. She believes this is an invaluable tool for many other officials
needing to obtain any type of child custody information. Carolee feels
with computer technology being much more advanced and with some new
funding ideas this bill has a much better chance of going through this
time around.
Carolee also has 7 other children at home who all want to speak out on
this law. Their little sisters were kidnapped. Her children come from all
walks of life, much abuse and disabilities ranging from autism, vision
problems & retardation but the children are in awe a Judge could not
protect their family due to a flaw in the system.
Carolee has been a foster/adoptive parent for 20+ yrs. She stated she
wanted to be up front about the fact she was an exotic dancer as she new
this would come up down the road and did not want anyone to think she was
hiding the fact. Carolee states she is very much against drugs. She says
she danced because it offered her the freedom of working when she wanted
thus allowing to care for her children & making enough money to support
them.
She states though her girls are safe at home now, not everyone has the
knowledge to navigate through the system, which can become quite complex
at times. Not to mention most people don't have the money it costs to
repair the situation after the damage is done. Carolee's fight for her
daughters has cost her to date $4,500.00.
I am working with Larry Garrison out of CA. We have lots of positive press going on and an unbelievable amount of support from schools, police, Child Protective Services, Judges and many others!!
