I had this conversation with Dave and Beth in 2005. Aruba's branding was "Natalee Holloway".

The media refers to crime, corruption not only in the Caribbean but in the US and compares it to the Natalee Holloway case and Aruba. Natalee Holloway has become synonymous with missing persons and corruption in a case.

Just like how scotch tape is used to describe all tape. Scotch tape is not a product, its a brand.

That is just one of the reasons why the NH case has never gone away. Aruba stupidly thought it would fizzle and they would go about their normal business. We told people back in 2005 that would never happen. I guess they should have listened.

Hey Aruba ... ask Jamaica how long it took to get their tourism back after a tourist was killed there in the 70's. They at least had a point in time to go forward.

Because Aruba has never cared to investigate or provide justice for Natalee, their tourism clock has never started.

Aruba ... perception is everything when people have choices .... everyone perceives that you are guilty of a cover up. No amount of marketing dollars will ever change that.

Who is this man in the dark suit talking about the FBI website?  Bet he is telling the whopper that Natalee is not listed there as missing.  No, she is on the page with the Murder victims!

Right Red, anyone in the business world and with an IQ over 119 points got that real fast. The brand is now Natalee Holloway. Whether we like it or not. It's really that simple. I'm sure no one wants that to be true, especially Dave and Beth, but that's the way it is.. and will be for sometime to come.

Rob Smith knows it and his kid glove approach to ******* showed me that. Rob's a smart guy... he's in the wrong place at the wrong time, but has nothing to lose. It's like begin the manager of the Pirates. You can't fail. Everyone has failed before, you can only succeed. A 10% jump in tourism is a victory... and one we will not allow them. If the Pirates break 50% it's a victory. Same for Rob Smith. He'll be there for 5 years at least in this position and there might be some growth. He'll take credit for that when he moves on.

Nothing much has changed from what I can tell:

Joran is no longer a suspect despite his confession.

Unless a Judge issues an an arrest warrant he will never again be a suspect

Although the case has not been formally closed there are no suspects.

Persistance did some fine work, but found nothing relevant to the case and has left

Joran has probably left the Netherlands for Germany

Mos continues with the PR and the coverup

The case is cold for lack of evidence


That sums it up.
