MominTN - It just seems the odds would be astronomical that you would somehow have chatted with the suspects in this case back in 2004.  The odds would must have been like a million to one??  Don't you think? Unless you were in one of the Aruba chatrooms.  I know some people go to like the trip advisor site and chat rooms prior to going on vacation to find out about the place before hand.

Nope, just the normal chatrooms Lobby, 40s, Romance, Christian.  They probably chatted to me in Romance or whatever it was called.  That is the room where all the men message you.  I mean like being bombarded!
It does seem strange that the Arubians do that.  And now it's the same ones who are the criminals.

That's because probably ALL of them were criminal and these are just the ones that became famous!!   Rolling Eyes   As Klaas says, what are the odds???

I wonder how many of the perps that Dateline caught chatted to me.  Thank God I never met any of them.

Do you think all those men were perps before they chatted or do you think chat made them turn into perps?

I don't think chat turns people into perps, I think they were perps before they went to chat.  You aren't a perp right?

Kat_Gram,

Do you have hurricanes?   I got someone wanting to know if I would work there..  I'm not sure where is?  If you don't have hurricanes and I can sell my house, maybe I should have an adventure..

"Hi  Terry,

This is Jane   from Miraclesoftware Systems. Hope you are doing good.

NO HURRICANES EVER TERRY ! !

Calgary Alberta is a boom town right now.
It is very expensive for housing, but the wages are good !
Look into it.
The winters are mild and the scenery is beautiful. My daughter's friend lived in Airdrie just on the outskirts, but they came back here because her husband worked for Air Canada as a mechanic and got transfered back. Calgary is at the base of the foothills.

I am in Manitoba. I work for the Feds here. Several of my workmates have sold up here and gone to work for the Alberta government as they deliver their own program. Same job, Double the Cash !

Taxes are the lowest in Canada.
If I was younger and didn't have the little granddaughter here, I would go in a second.

If you like the outdoors Calgary is the place for you.
Each province in Canada has its own flavour. Calgary is paved with oil.

Check it out. Can you get a copy of the Calgary newspaper ? You could check on prices.
ps I don't think you could get by on less than $ 80,000.00 per year.

I forgot that we have winter here. But winter in Calgary is not as severe
as the rest of the land. The cities here are prepared for a couple of bad storms a winter and hardly ever is there a standstill.
Languages : We are an official bilingual country, but in Alberta services in French just have to be delivered by the Feds. Where language is a job issue in Ottawa, it is not in Alberta.
They are very hard up for skilled workers and there is talk of issuing work visas for I think four years.
Health care costs would be a consideration as you are an American. It is free to Canadians but I am not sure how that would work for you.

Carnut, I get emails and don't even have a website or go to chats!  From people in foreign countries that are apparently desperate to get to this one and have all these schemes.  But I don't think for one minute they are interested in me personally, it is the situation they want.   Wink   Or money.  And any tiny shred of personal information can be used apparently in one way or another by them to try to get it.  Guess it is sort of a job to them.

Even people selling horses and dogs get emails from people some of whom say they are interested in starting a relationship!  It is nutty and just placing an ad can attract some of these loons.

The internet is a wild and crazy place.  I do wish there were better ways of tracking communications on it, however.  Some day I think we will better be able to do so.

I'm thinking that people selling porn ads, like from Aruba and the Netherlands, chat up innocent men who are just lonely and looking for someone, and they get ahold of them and brainwash them into doing awful things or wanting to do awful things.  This way they can sell them more porn.  However the men go off and show up to meet girls because they do not realize how crazy they have become.

Yep, the internet is a wild and crazy place, kinda why I like it sooo much.

I do kinda wonder why the government can't setup a kids net for folks to just allow their kids on while the rest of the world can serf the rest unencombered.

Kinda like when AOL was internet on 'training wheels'.

Well, now you seem to be referring to the msnbc setups to catch perps after underage kids. Those guys do deserve to be caught, I think those sting operaations are the greatest things since sliced bread.

Course that is also an example of why underage kids shouldn't be allowed on the 'real' internet.

Hi Monkeys,

I have been lurking for a few paes trying to catch up on the topic of the night. LOL As most of you know I am older than most here and from a generation where meeting a guy in a bar was perfectley acceptable. Met hubby there . Married him in less than 2 months, more than 49 years ago.
Would be scared to death to do something like that now.

Now , we live in small town . I know of 2 couples here in town who met spouses on the internet and married quickly. Also know of a couple from this area originally but they had moved and lived for many years in Texas. He met a female from Ohio on the internet. Quite a bit younger than he and left his wife for the internet romance. Saddddddd

I do not think chats are all they are cracked up to be. You can be a fat slob drinking beer and chatting pretending to be a young good looking guy or gal/ JMHO

Also I hope some of you read the sites that Tylergal posted last night. It really gave some insight into the loose morals of the Netherlands. So if nothing is illegal then there is no crime.
