Article today details the new law prompted by her husband's unending search.  Computer is too slow today to copy & paste...and I was unable to find a previous topic about Ms. Viola.

I can't seem to save any of her pix to put here, but this Jane Doe sure does look a lot like her to me. Jane was found in the Catskills--NY in 2002. All that was found was a skull. I know it is a huge long shot, but sometimes these forensic artists are right on the money.

Just to let you know, this is NOT Patricia Viola. This information has been provided to me by one of my NYS LE contacts. This Jane Doe is estiminated to have died in 1985. There are dentals also that do not match, such as a certain tooth of Patricia's having a filling, and the same tooth on the Jane Doe as never having been worked on.

I came across this in a search and since I had the means to clear it up, I did, so that the family would not come across it and have to wonder, even if for a moment.

Thank you.

Based on the  residence security system log, there was a RESET done on the control panel from inside the house at 1:11PM on the afternoon of 2/13/01.  The RESET would be required prior to re-arming the alarm following a previous alarm trigger.  The house alarm was set when her husband, Jim, arrived home, so Pat did do the RESET at 1:11 PM from inside the house and set it again sometime between 1:11PM and when Jim Arrived home around 4:30PM.  We could then assume, she went out again between 1:11PM and 4:00 PM.

New Jersey remains identified as missing woman
9.12.2012

BOGATA -- DNA analysis has confirmed remains that washed up on a New York beach a decade ago are those of a New Jersey housewife who disappeared in 2001.

However, the break in the case doesn't shed any light on how Patricia Viola died.

The 42-year-old disappeared without a trace from her Bogota home on Feb. 13, 2001.

Her remains were found on a beach in Rockaway, Queens in July 2002.

Her husband, James, tells The Record newspaper he was stunned when police on Tuesday told him about the DNA match.

Bogota man numb after remains found of wife missing nearly 12 years
Tuesday, 11 September 2012 19:26

ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: Amid financial strain and his son’s poor health, Jim Viola of Bogota said he finally got his wife declared legally dead last Friday, more than 11 years since she went missing. Late this afternoon, he sat in shock as a Bogota detective told him that remains that washed up on a Rockaway beach a decade ago were identified yesterday as hers.

"It’s a very difficult time. I’m feeling nothing, really, right now," Viola told CLIFFVIEW PILOT in an exclusive interview early this evening.

As it turns out, he himself was responsible for making the identification of Patricia Viola possible.

Three years ago, the distraught husband convinced New Jersey lawmakers in New Jersey to adopt a DNA profiling law already enacted in other states.

Finally she can be brought home after so many years.  Moving this to "Missing Found Deceased".  But now we need to know more about the circumstances and her cause of death.

So sad that they had her remains from 2002 and just now identify this poor woman.  May she be resting in peace and the family finds some closure.

I see that our beloved, late moderator 2NJSons_Mom started the Missing Persons thread for Patricia Viola March 20, 2008.  I wish she were here to see Patricia Viola's remains have been found.  If you are looking down from heaven 2NJ, here is one that although not found safe has at least  been found after so many years and can be laid to rest. I know this would mean a lot to you.

Love and miss you 2NJ.     an angelic monkey
