if I

no idea how that happened. I must have hit something... anyway.. as I was going to say.

If I am correct, in the manufacturing process of making cocaine from coca leaves, petro / gas / fuel is used and sometimes the cocaine has a yellow tint and a gas like taste.

http://www.cocaine.org/synthesis/index.html

<snip>

Methylecgonine. 0.4 mole of tropinone is suspended in 80 ml of ethanol
in a Parr hydrogenation flask (or something that can take 100 psi and
not react with the reaction, like stainless steel or glass). 10 g of
Raney Nickle is added with good agitation (stirring or shaking) followed
by 2- 3 ml of 20% NaOH solution. Seal vessel, introduce 50 psi of
hydrogen atmosphere (after flushing vessel with hydrogen) and heat to
40-50¡. After no more uptake of hydrogen (pressure gauge will hold
steady after dropping to its lowest point) bleed off pressure and filter
the nickle off, rinse out bottle with chloroform and use this rinse to
rinse off the nickle while still on the filter paper. Make the filtrate
basic with KOH after cooling to 10¡. Extract with chloroform dry, and
evaporate the chloroform in vacuo to get an oil. Mix the oil plus any
precipitate with an equal volume of dry ether and filter. Add more dry
ether to the filtrate until no more precipitate forms, filter and add to
the rest of the precipitate. Recrystallize from isopropanol to get pure
methylecgonine. Test for activity. If active, skip down to the step for
cocaine. If not active, proceed as follows. Stir with activated carbon
for 30 min, filter, evaporate in vacuo, dissolve the brown liquid in
methanol, and neutralize with 10% HCI acid in dry ether. Evaporate the
ether until the two layers disappear, and allow to stand for 2 hours at
0¡ to precipitate the title product. There are many ways to reduce
2-carbomethoxytropinone to methylecgonine. I chose to design a Raney
Nickle reduction because it is cheap and not as suspicious as LAH and it
is much easier than zinc or sodium amalgams.

<snip again>

As you can see, this is quite a chore. The coca leaves give ecgonine,
which as you can see, is only a Jump away from cocaine. If you can get
egconine, then dissolve 8l/2 g of it in 100 ml of ethanol and pass
(bubble) dry HC1 gas through this solution for 30 min. Let cool to room
temp and let stand for another 11/2 hours. Gently reflux for 30 min and
evaporate in vacuo. Basify the residue oil with NaOH and filter to get
8.4 g of methylecgonine, which is converted to cocaine as in the cocaine
step above.

in my opinion, gold bricks has to be cocaine. At one time is was more expense than gold and can be traded like gold.

In that video, I see quite a few chemicals being used. Caustic Soda, a few different types of fuel and an assortment of other highly flammables.

Thanks Rob...for the info...I think you are right! There were a couple of big drug busts later in 2005, one boat captain's name was Rodriguez-something, and that has always peeked my interest. Every few weeks I go back and see if something 'fits'.

I think the 'birds on the wire' were surveillence and the big picture is why we will never know what happened. Aruba knows this and that is why they taunt us! That FOS post and a presence in the region is so important. JMO

Hi Hotping...He had another name after it, but I have always kept an eye out for the Rodriguez name as it is now connected to Freddy's family. Have a quick look here and see if you find anything or you can google DEA Caribbean News. The boat captain lost an appeal recently. COLUMBO  and I talked about it a while ago. I think it was October though as I have wondered if that interferred with Nat's investigation, with a DEA agent happening to be on the scene!

Thank you, Rob, for your statement:  "in my opinion, gold bricks has to be cocaine".
Yesterday, in the Natalee thread, I asked if bricks of cocaine could be bricks of gold.
I don't know if you're answering my question, but in any event, I was happy to see your post.  Thanks.

CAPS - you said that you spoke with your contacts about the 2 hour video that was made the night that Natalee died.  Do your contacts know if the video was actually distributed and/or sold to the Europeon market?  Is it possible that this video still exists somewhere?

Klaas - here is some more information about the Rodriguez/Tejada heroin bust.  Can you please put it in the right thread?  Thanks so much.

Cops seize heroin and weapons cache

By Marie Villani-York

A Kingsbridge Heights couple is facing a litany of charges after police raided their Sedgwick Avenue home last week and found an eye-popping display of drugs and weapons.

The Bronx gang squad had been investigating Edwin Dela- Cruz, 31, and his girlfriend, Lucila Tejada, 36, for several weeks. On Jan. 9, at 8:40 a.m., as the couple lay sleeping, officers raided their apartment, inside 3343 Sedgwick Ave., arresting them and seizing eight kilograms of heroin, nine loaded guns and a variety of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested without incident.

Deputy Chief Robert Boyce, commander of the Citywide Gang Unit, said Mr. DelaCruz and Ms. Tejada are not gang members but are part of a larger drug organization suspected of selling heroin in the Bronx and parts of Upper Manhattan. He described the bust as significant, explaining that the two were not working in some mom-and-pop fashion.

Eight kilograms of heroin, he said, is worth half a million dollars. Deputy Inspector Dermot Shea, commanding officer of the 50th Precinct and a former head of several Bronx narcotics squads, said that amount of heroin can fetch dealers about a million dollars on the street.

Several residents of 3343 Sedgwick Ave., a well-maintained brick apartment building overlooking the Jerome Park Reservoir, were startled by the arrests. However, one woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said neighbors began noticing some unusual traffic in the building.

"We're in shock but we knew something funny was going on," she said. "Now we're all breathing a sigh of relief."

A representative from the Sedgwick Management Corporation, the managing agent for the building, said she had heard no complaints about the couple from residents.

According to police, Mr. Delacruz and Ms. Tejada had drugs and weapons stashed all over the apartment. They found one kilogram under the couple's bed, and seven more wrapped and tucked in a large box in the living room.

Nine handguns, all loaded, were found in the bedroom - two in a dresser by the bed and six more under the bed. A Mac 11, a fully automatic machine gun that fires 1,200 rounds per minute, was also recovered. It was also loaded with several rounds of ammunition, police said.

Deputy Chief Boyce said the stash of weapons was "highquality."

Mr. Delacruz has been previously arrested on weapons, robbery and felony charges. He was taken off parole in August 2006.

Ms. Tejada has no prior arrests.

The pair, who appeared before a judge on Tuesday, is due back in court on Jan. 22.

LOL…You guys forgot about my 50 bags of heroin=1 brick!!!

Jug, Beth and Dave have a DEA named Williams.

In both Joran’s and Paulus’ PVs there is an FBI Williams.

Carlo comes back after 10 minutes and says that Judge Williams is going to release Joran!

We can’t find a Judge Williams.

Any thoughts on just whom this Judge Williams might be….

Mum, I have two guesses on Judge Williams - one, he doesn't exist and it is a code mane for another Judge Joran does not want known, or maybe he is a substitute Judge like Paulus was. If he is not a permanent Judge he could have been used to do some of the dirty work anonymously. I have never seen the name other than the excerpt from Joran's book.

that's all I got...

Thanks Blonde...It was Smid...just bought the link from Natalee's Freebirds as the post is long...good reading though!

I know that Williams was DEA, I posted something that Pita had found a little while back about a case he had worked on. Not sure why Paulus and Joran said FBI??? Don't think the guy was on vacation either!

And about the name Croes...I am certain there are many Croes on Aruba related to many others. Just as in my town there are numerous Smiths and Jones...but not all are best buds to each other or related except by distant cousins ten times removed. There are people in several Croes families that have a common ancestor or even a common grandparent that are not friendly or even associate with the other side of the family. Sometimes you have to look past the name and see the other things too. Why do I say this? Because I have done my own research too...I don't just take things at face value. So it remains...confusion and chaos in the Shango Forum....LOL! Just another day at the office.

Yes, Croes. I feel like I am on the Aruban Express. Croes, Croes, Croes. Ringing like a bell in me head.

Yes, the world is filled with Smith & Jones, but we are not speaking of the world. We are speaking about Aruba. A small island. Many are related. Many. It boils down to Family or Tourist. Leaves quite a predicament. Maybe even in what one might tell another in confidence.

The gossamer of Croes weaves all through the island. Some are of the name Croes as still yet. Some have other names. Some in this thread posted. Some relations, not yet connected by some....

There are many trees on Aruba. Some branches touch other trees. Time allows some to wear the mask of deception.

Trim a branch and see who falls out. It may give you a stir.

so, who did you find when you plugged in names

I definetly think there is a connection to these Jewelery dealers and drug trafficking. I remember last year we heard about a man who was cut in half/mutilated from robbing a jewelery store I believe from Jossy. Of course the story changed and we were told it was a animal that was mutllated,I think a goat or a donkey..Anyone remember that?

Texasmom, I found this last night, it shows that Sidney did not pitch the days we are looking at.

Need to look at some Simian posts.

Is he related to the Racquet Club Ponsons?  TIA

Hi Mum,
I haven't found a connection to them yet, I've been doing a lot of reading!  He may not be connected to anything at all, but it can't hurt to find out what I can about him.

Correction in above post...should have been NJ  not NH

Hi Hotping...He had another name after it, but I have always kept an eye out for the Rodriguez name as it is now connected to Freddy's family. Have a quick look here and see if you find anything or you can google DEA Caribbean News. The boat captain lost an appeal recently. COLUMBO  and I talked about it a while ago. I think it was October though as I have wondered if that interferred with Nat's investigation, with a DEA agent happening to be on the scene!

I picked the casanostra as a name after doing much research as to their relationship to the island of Aruba and the drug trade, as well as other things that go along with it. Do some googling and find out for yourself. I think that Natalee is alive and that there are people on the island, and those that pass through the island that no one wants to mess with. There lies the predicament. You have a criminal element more powerful than the authorities and a chess game is being played. I think Joran is being protected, but he is also guilty of something. Not murder, but leading Natalee into something very sinister. I apologize if my speculation is in any way disrespectful to she or her family, but I find this very intriguing and it goes much deeper than what is implied on television.

Over two tons of cocaine seized off coast of Aruba

Jim Kouri Jim Kouri
October 19, 2005

Suspected foul-play involving American teenager Natalee Holloway isn't the only big crime story in Aruba these days. Known as a favorite transshipment for drug traffckers, the waters surrounding Aruba were the scene of a major drug interdiction operation by US officials.

United States federal agents seized 4,488 pounds of cocaine on board the Bolivian-flagged vessel M/V Sea Atlantic at approximately 150 nautical miles off the coast of Aruba. The seizure was part of Operation Caribbean Corridor, an investigative/law enforcement initiative by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the US Coast Guard in the Caribbean Basin.

The Sea Atlantic, sailing under the Bolivian flag, raised the interest of law enforcement organizations operating as part of Operation Caribbean Corridor. After successful cooperation between the USCG, the international counter drug organization Joint Inter- Agency Task Force South, the Royal Netherlands Navy, and the Coast Guard for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, more than 65 bales of cocaine were found in a hidden compartment on board the ship.

The USCG Law Enforcement Detachment — permanently stationed onboard the Royal Netherlands Navy Ship — boarded the motor vessel, assisted by a Royal Netherlands Navy Maritime security Team. Later that morning, they found 68 bales (approximately 4,488 pounds) of a powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine during a field test.

The crew of the M/V Sea Atlantic was arrested and the ship was escorted to Puerto Rico by the USCG Cutter Vigorous. The following crew members of the M/V Sea Atlantic are now in federal custody, according to arrest reports:

Alicides Rodriguez Duran, 38, citizen of Venezuela

Carlos Julio Almonte, 59, citizen of Dominican Republic

Gandaogo Minoungou, 42, citizen of Burkina Faso

Nii Klaku Okley, 39, citizen of Ghana

Ruberts Jose Gonzalez Valero, 29, citizen of Venezuela

Ronald Jose Morelis, 32, citizen of Venezuela

Julio Cesar de la Rosa, 34, citizen of Dominican Republic

Reinaldo Jose Cabello, 42, citizen of Venezuela

Alberto Javier Padilla, 36, citizen of Mexico

"ICE and the other federal agencies in Operation Caribbean Corridor — DEA, FBI and the US Coast Guard — are working together, efficiently and intelligently to stop the transshipment of drugs and other contraband in the Caribbean Basin," according to officials from ICE.

"US Coast Guard law enforcement detachments have a proud and successful history of intercepting contraband with the Dutch navy in the Caribbean. With the aggressive work of ICE, DEA and the FBI in Operation Caribbean Corridor, our collective resources are maximized as we work together to keep drugs off the streets." Said Captain James Tunstall, Commander, USCG, Sector San Juan.

The crew members arrested will be prosecuted in federal court in Puerto Rico.
