I did my best taking out the cup, but it needs help

No, "rigging" Natalee's appearance is a no-no.

I agree.  Imagine what will be said on that island.  They have already seen this photo.

Destiny - It's easy to find US Postal rates TO Aruba. It's the ARUBA rates TO the U.S. that I couldn't find.

Were you planning to use the FBI as the contact? (I think that's what I recall being the Last Word on the subject.)

If so - someone probably should give the Birmingham FBI a heads-up - a phone call, and a rough draft ahead of time if possible. Just as a courtesy.

You are right...someone in contact with the Family should do this....not me...

Okay, how can we get cracking on this? I don't know how to contact anyone in the family. Red? casa?

Did msmarple need me to do something?

Casa - Destiny has worked out a deal with Diario and they will post a full page AD (see sample above).  I believe msmarples suggestion was that someone should just let the family know what we are doing.

casa - see what's in red above. (It is my assumption that the family KNOWS about this "ad".) What occurred to me was that the Birmingham FBI office should get a heads up about it, and Destiny thought someone in the family (or in contact with the family) could do that.

I believe Destiny said it will be published on Wednesday 05/28.

Hi guys! I love the Ad!

I haven't been posting here much, so if the decision about the photos has already been made, please just disregard this post!

My 2 cents is that since the Ad is a really different approach and so heartfelt, maybe a picture that isn't quite as commonly known on the island would give it a little more personal touch. People tend to get "desensitized" to what they've been repeatedly exposed to. I'd suggest this one, perhaps?

Okay, published Wednesday or Thursday, 5/28 or 5/29 - before the 30th if possible - considering the loose ends.

klaas - just curious - where did the 877 number come from? I didn't see it on the FBI site, and I really, really looked for an all-purpose 800 Tip number. Are we sure it's an FBI number?

klaas - certainly not to argue the point, but we are telling the readers to contact the FBI. If it's not an FBI number, we should say something different (if that's the number to use).

Maybe I'll call it and see what happens.

OK, it will be easy to remove if it's a bad number.

I like it, Klaas. I like it very much.

I went to the FBI website and under contact, put in Aruba. This came up as the closest international office:

Caracas, Venezuela
American Embassy: 011-58-212-975-6411

OK. Here's the deal. I called -

1-205-326-6166 - this is the B'ham field office switchboard.
1-877-628-2533 - this is the B'ham field office Tip line for any case.

The person at the 205 number said it would be best to use the 877 number.

The 877 number is a voice mail box only. A caller would have to leave a message.

Both are 24/7 numbers, but the switchboard person said the office was closed today because of the holiday. So not sure if a call early in the morning, for example, could get directed to an agent.

I don't want to make this decision or even recommend.

However, in verifying the 877 number, I did leave a message about the ad being published in Diario on Wednesday or Thursday. I left my number in case they want to know more. So casa, you're off the hook on that one.

One more thing - I don't think we want to use the Curacao Consulate office, or the FBI office in Venezuela, for this. That's MHO.

klaas - I would say so. Only other thing would be to add the International prefixes. (Or do we assume everyone knows this? I sure as heck would not, but then I'm a stupid, arrogant American.  Wink )

00-1*-area code-local number

... is correct *I think*.

Onward, about the Reward. Sadly, I don't think the one million $$ for her safe return is operative. Is it $250,000 $US for information re. her whereabouts that leads to finding her? Did Diario add to the amount? (Why would we be asking Jossy about the reward?) I think I missed a memo.

If we mention the reward, it surely needs to be accurate information. Sounds like another question for a family member.

Do you have a before Natalee disappeared picture?  A lot of the people on the island, those involved in the case, seem to have aged (and not well for some, MO) since Natalee disappeared.  I'm not sure why.

Side-by-side maybe?

So....

00-1*-1-877-628-2533   ??

The Diario article mentioned a reward.  I don't know if Dave Holloway or Jossy was offering it.  In any case, the article and reward was a Jossy thing if I remember correctly.

klaas - I think you have too many 1's.

According to the web site below, the format should be:

00 + 1* + City Code + Local Number

I assume the * is literal, and not representing something else, or it would say so.

IF anyone knows more about this, please POST!
