If you find an article you want to post, in my case I found a local article for crimes against children thread, how do you go about posting it with links and pertinent information as to who wrote it etc. I clicked on copy all but it highlighted the entire page and not just the article. So I then just highlighted the words and the information/link. Now I wonder if the do not distribute etc thing at the bottom means I made a big booboo.

Hi Shell....I copy and past a heap of things that say that!  I just don't paste the copyright or do not distribute info...LOL

I have always thought that was meant for financial gain. so I will continue to copy and paste.

I was under the impression that an IP identified a poster as well as an email addy. are these 2 things tied together?

I now have 3 different addresses showing up when I am logged in - one new since I had a new dish and modem installed. I recall the one from when I first started posting and then another interchanged with the first one in early June. I have both on the same page in one thread.

My questions are...LOL...Why do IPs change, does everyone's and then how would you know if which ones are really me?

In most cases if you link back to the article it's not a problem.  Normally what I do is copy and paste the text then add the links.  If it can't be copied and pasted then I do a screen capture.  If you can't do a screen capture then just the link should be fine.

You might want to email Dugga with your questions as he knows alot more about it than I do.  I will try to explain the best I know.

An IP will show the location of the server YOUR internet provider is using for YOUR internet connection.  In some cases it will be right in the same city and in others it will be in a nearby city.  AOL will not show up the same and they have like HUBS (only way I know how to describe it).  So instead of saying a city it will show maybe a Region.  IP's with AOL change all the time.

The IP you have today would be the same on your PC and posting here in the forum as it would be for your email unless you are using Hotmail or something.
