Tim Russert died today at 58 years old. He was at work when he collapsed. He said he was having trouble breathing and he died before the paramedics arrived.

It was said it was a heart attack. Now they are reconsidering the cause of death and are going to perform an autopsy. He and his wife and son, Luke, went to Europe for a celebratory trip for Luke's graduation. They had a wonderful time. Tim came home and the wife and son were going to continue to tour Europe.

Now they are thinking perhaps during the airplane trip home, he might have developed a blood clot in his leg(s) that traveled to other parts of his body.

Tim Russert was the hugely influential host of NBC's "Meet the Press" as well as its Washington bureau chief. He was a political lifer who made a TV career of his passion with unrelenting questioning of the powerful and influential.

Rest in peace, Tim Russert. Happy trails.
