Very true. Joran should come forward and come clean. Rumors in the bar they are betting Joran's over 10 million dollars. Some said wait till him are on the street and homeless and begging in Holland and it won't be long. His grandparents are had to give Joran up coz the economic and political pressure is too much for them. No one wants a world class criminal living around their neighborhood. It is just too dangerous for their kids cause the gangsters were attracted by Joran, and the gangster might hurt their kids as well. When Joran becomes a male prostitute and a piece of garbage in the red light district, someone will move in on him, finished him, got his head and got the bounty money. And nobody would care less about what happened. This is the way how the justice is done in the underworld when somebody godfather is really getting very angry at Joran, and Joran is hurting his business in Aruba.

I did not find anything (other than SM links) that suggest the name Aruba is Arawak for 'slit', 'opening', or 'anus'.  I must not have the same dictionary that is available to others.   It must be on a secret thread.  imho

the patience from the Netherlands for the islands to get their act together is rapidly running out.

IF there are elections today.
it is not entirely unthinkable that Aruba/Bonaire/Curaçao are sold to Venezuela (or Colombia).

and St.Maarten/Saba/Eustatius to the USA, UK or France. on these islands they speak English anyway.

Maybe it’s the “BESS” solution…

In The Daily Herald of Wednesday April 23 (on page 19) tucked in between the car ads, a very significant article could be read titled: “BES-islands meet on heath care insurance”.

While SXM is bickering about technical details of a country status we will probably never meet the set criteria for, the BES islands are discussing a general medical insurance for their people! The BES are actually delivering the bread AND the butter to their people.

Hopefully the leaders of SXM realize that they are playing a dangerous game and should accept that they are not in a position to play such a high stakes game. Why? Because as stated by State Secretary Ank Bijleveld-Schouten: the political climate in Holland is rapidly changing.

What she trying to highlight is that the socialist oriented parties are loosing ground quickly to more right winged parties who would rather see the Antilles sold on the internet to the highest bidder (PVV party / Hero Brinkman), seek to introduce measures restricting Antillean youth admittance to Holland (Rita Verdonk who has just formed a new political party) or are throwing new constitutional curveballs at the Antilles with the sole purpose of cutting Kingdom ties as much as possible (member of the VVD party: Johan Remkes’ recent proposal for a Commonwealth status).

If elections would be held today in Holland, polls suggest that the 3 aforementioned parties could get a majority coalition and thus decide Holland’s policy on everything including constitutional reform. This could dramatically change the game and shatter SXM’s constitutional dreams once and for all.

These facts should serve as a clear reminder to our leaders that they should either get a workable agreement with the Dutch going sooner rather than later or stop all together and go back to the people of SXM with a new referendum and include the option of SXM joining the BES islands in their constitutional structure which seems to be quite workable and most importantly: has the best for their citizens at heart. Something that is seriously missing from SXM’s current technical discussions.

To offer some food for thought: maybe the best solution for SXM is the BES(S) solution....

For persons that can understand Dutch: the article is posted below this summary in English:

PVV party wants to stop Antillean constitutional reform

Dutch opposition party PVV of Hero Brinkman has presented 4 motions which include a motion to stop the constitutional change per immediately and not offer any debt relief to the Netherlands Antilles as the Dutch tax payer should not need to carry the debt relief burden.

He does not understand why the Antilles do not move towards independance so that the Dutch tax payer no longer has to pay for this "corrupt bunch of thieves".

The motion was not supported by many parties and State Secratary of Kingdom Relations, Ank Bijleveld-Schouten meanwhile has lamanted the terminology used by the PVV. She says that she does not characterize the Antilles as such and says that it's not correct at all.

Hero Brinkman wants to unilaterally impose independance for the Antilles but Ank Bijleveld-Schouten has repeatedly said that this is not technically possible and is not as easy as it sounds and that the citizens of the Antilles have chosen to stay within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

She (Bijleveld) does acknowledge that many Dutch citizens support PVV's proposal to "get rid of the Antilles" but wants to point out that we're talking about human beings on the other side of the ocean and people should realise that for a change. Also she points out that the PVV tends to only emphasize the negative instead of also acknowledge the positive about the relationship with the Antilles.

Bijleveld-Schouten agrees that there are problems with good governance and corrpution in the Antilles and therefore she is in talks with the Antillean leaders to address these problems and come to a mutual solution as this is the interest of the citizens of the Antilles, which should be the number 1 priority.

But she does want to remind the Antillean leaders to pick up te pace in their constitutional reform as the political climate in Holland is hardening by the day, which the Antillean leaders should realise.

this is the same i noticed too. political climate rapidly changing. moving more towards parties like PVV.

especially last week. with state secretary Bijleveld now siding with Hero Brinkman.
Bijleveld has to move towards PVV if her party (CDA) doesn't want to lose more voters.

The reporter they were talking about was Hubert Tiel. Dan Reihl was on Fox (a Saturday night - I was watching) when they switched to a live phone call from him on the air. Nothing was ever mentioned of this again - no explanation. Tiel still works for Diario supposedly. This is the first ever I've heard of this Sergio Gomez -- but it IS interesting!!!
