Monday's search takes group to Bay City

Emily Jane Plouffe Simunic, 29, left from Clarkston Thursday and was on her way to West Branch. She was then supposed to be in Boyne City Friday, but she never made it there.

Her family concentrated its efforts near Bay City. They say police told them that's where her cell phone signal was last tracked to, essentially her last known location.

With fliers on foot and in cars, Simunic's family searched.

They even staged their own command center at a McDonald's near M-84 and I-75 in Bay City, mapping out areas of interest and making sure everyone was on the same page.

Simunic was apparently on her way from Clarkson to meet friends in St. Ignace, but her family says they had car trouble and instead agreed to meet in West Branch.

Simunic's family says it's just not like her.

The registered nurse was working in Rochester and always called or at least sent texts, but there's been nothing since early Friday morning when police tracked her cell phone signal near 3 Mile Road.

Simunic was driving a silver 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. The license plate number is BGW 1441.

While police did not participate in the search Monday, the Oakland County Sheriff's Department is investigating this case.

Emily Jane Plouffe Simunic on WEYI 25 News
Tonight @ 11 WEYI channel 25 aired a short clip about my sister. Hopefully, in the morning there will be more broadcasts about her. There may have been other channels that aired the information, but that was the one we watched because we knew they were airing it.

We should have much more information tomorrow when the police are able to start accessing information on her bank accounts. We are also hoping that we will get more information about where she was when she made her last few phone call via the cell towers. We are going to go to the area that they last pinged her phone and try to see if anyone in that area remembers seeing her or her car. Unfortunately, we have been unable to come up with her tag #. When we know what it is I will post it.

They need cameras or witness in the area at that time.. Did she break down on the road ? Nope because then there would be her car..

I just got a tweet from Emily's sister. They found her and her car. She had been in car accident and was killed when thrown from the car.

MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -- (06/30/09)--It appears the search for a missing Flushing native is over. Police have discovered a car and body in a ditch just off a Mid-Michigan expressway.

Tuesday morning, Emily Jane Plouffe Simunic's car was found off I-75 just north of U.S. 10 in Bay County's Monitor Township.

Family members say a body found near the car is Simunic's.

Authorities say she was most likely thrown from the car.

Police pulled the car out of the woods about 1:45 p.m.
