I respect the wishes of those parents who don't wish their children to have any contact with their grandparents. In some cases it is good. But for others like me, who only wants to see her grandchild but is constantly impeded by the other grandparent who has custody--it is not fair. And laws are to protect all grandparents. We cannot pick and chose who will benefit from grandparents rights or not. My situation is unique. The mother of my grandchild is mentally incapacited and her mother (the other grandmother) is a Jehova Witness and for some reason does not particularly want me to see my grandchild on a regular basis. There have been issues relating to the safety of the child because of the parent's emotional state and she has been violent and is under a doctor's care. I had the occasion of speaking with Child Welfare Bureau agency staff and so has my son who currently resides in Florida. I want to be a part of this child's life. She does know me and tells me she loves me. This relationship should not be taken away. My religion is different and I do not hold it against them. I feel I should be in her life so I can keep track of her and see for myself that she is being provided for in a loving, healthy manner. My grandchild needs to know she is also loved by the family of her father even though he cannot physically live in the area.

Accidental Drownings - #1 Killer Of South Florida Kids In Summer

Miami, Florida - The number of child drownings and near drownings in South Florida increases dramatically each year during the Summer. Now that school is almost out, more kids will spend a greater amount of time in and around swimming pools. That makes summer vacation one of the most dangerous times for children.

South Florida has always had one of the highest child drownings rates in the country. ''It's the No. 1 killer of young kids in South Florida,'' said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Eddy Ballester, speaking about accidental drownings. ``We have that dubious distinction of suffering more tragedies than anywhere else in the country.''

Child drownings, however, can be prevented. Most child drownings occur in backyard swimming pools. And most of those accidents can be avoided by following a few important safety tips including:

• Teach kids how to swim or at least survive in the water.

• Use pool fences, pool alarms, self-closing and self-latching gates and alarms on doors to make sure toddlers don't get into the pool when you aren't watching.

• Don't let children play near a pool without adult supervision.

• Parents should tell their kids to take breaks every so often and when they get swimming lessons, they need to practice.

''Just like a designated driver, you need to have a designated pool watcher,'' Ballester said.



42 children drowned in Broward County since 2005 and 43 in Miami-Dade in that same period.


While supervision is extremely important, it is widely recognized that kids do get away from their parents or babysitters at times. That's why many municipal building codes require pools to be fenced or gated.Improperly maintained gates and fences however can not protect children and are too often the cause of child drownings and near drownings.

June 15 – Caylee visits her great-grandfather at an assisted living facility. A video is later produced in an attempt to verify the sighting.


Mid-June – Casey allegedly borrows a shovel from a neighbor.

June 22 - 23 Break-in to George Anthony's shed. 50 bucks in gasoline stolen
             No fingerprints on the gas cans left behind.

June 24    George Anthony Reports break-in on the shed to OCSO. Files report.

June 24 - Casey's ex-fiancé calls her in the afternoon to tell her he has resigned from the Orlando Police Department. He later tells deputies that he heard Casey reprimand Caylee for climbing on a table. He also claims he heard the young girl's voice in the background.

From what I can figure, this is where Casey says she dropped Caylee off.  I was shocked to see what is in the back yard.
