One of the fascinating aspects of a lot of the childhood sexual abuse victims I've worked with is their ability to dissociate from reality - their minds literally go someplace else while the acts of abuse are occuring, and many of them carry this same coping mechanism into adult life.  It is relatively easy and automatic for them to deny reality and go to a place in their minds where life is tolerable.  I think Casey uses this mechanism to cope with daily life.  She also uses a lot of fantasy thinking - her parents are going to somehow magically disappear and the house will be hers, for example.  She even goes so far as to include her friends in these fantasies - her parents will disappear, Amy will move into the house with her and Caylee and life will be just grand.

Casey is really disturbed and there is a reason for that.

CBB - I still can't see who's at the truck.  The shoes are really one of the no trespassing signs knocked down.  The protest sign that looks like it's standing up by itself is probably leaning against someone sitting on the sidewalk.
