Still catching up, so this may have been covered already... but remember, I kept reading people typing on the Greta board (and maybe elsewhere) that George supposedly cleaned out the trunk with lighter fluid.  Again, not sure how anybody would know this.. and honestly, it doesn't make much sense IMO.  But.. I would be interested in finding out more about it.

Wreck are you really here.  Do you know about R-20 for a car.  I asked Carpe, but he must be asleep in his keyboard. 

Off and on tonight -- SEVERE on-line problems -- R-20 ????? I'm not following!

When I look up chloform it says R-20 which is refrigerent for old cars, I though you might know it it could be inhaled, if it could have been in Caseys trunk.

Oh! Let's ask the OLD guy about old cars!!    Actually, for many, many years the refrigerant gas was called "Freon" (now illegal to buy but some still exist for repairs of old cars). They now use R-22 for basic cooling and R-404 for low temperature (below freezing). I think there is an even newer refrigerant that is more "green" for the environment. ..... For your question -- not sure (I'm guessing "freon" is actually "R-20") whether it is inhalable or similar to chloriform -- I have no idea!

About this R-22, There is a huge thread on another forum about the Smiley Face killings.. and a theory that perhaps the person responsible (or persons responsible) work for Trane..  fixing A/C's, etc.  That these people may have been using R-22 to knock these  young men out.. perhaps an overdose might have killed some of them, and it might not be readily apparent, because why would LE test for R-22? In addition, most of these men were seen around bars, and found in water...  with no visible trauma, leading LE to conclude it was most likely an accidental death.

R-22 can be used almost like a knockout gas, with some effort, but not a ton, wouldn't be too hard for someone who knows a little about HVAC to use that. Has almost a nitrious oxide effect, people do get high on it. Cargo van....victims half hammered....Jugs of refigerant not out of place for anyone in the AC biz, roll your window down a little, the other window doesn't work, open the valve and sleepy time drunken stupor land for a short while. I doubt there would be a whole lot of traces of it either.


If the technician is working in a confined space, care should be taken to provide proper ventilation and if there is an accidental release of refrigerant, the area should be vacated. Inhaling high concentrations of refrigerant vapour can cause a feeling of intoxication and dizziness with a loss of coordination and slurred speech. Cardiac irregularities, unconsciousness,and ultimately death, can occur from breathing a high concentration of refrigerant. If a technician experiences any of these symptoms he should move or be moved to an area with fresh air and receive medical attention.

About the chloroform~

Do we think casey found it and then researched how to use it?

OR

Did she research it and then go about trying to get some?

My other question is do you think it is possible that the bottle that contained the chloroform was left in the trunk, maybe with some still in the bottle, and it was not closed properly and leaked..Then when Cindy and George were in that vechile after it was brought home that they found the bottle and looked up what chloroform can be used for to see why casey would have it?
