Does anyone have this old RWV thread saved?

http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2005/10/natalee_hollowa_39.html

I am looking for a post by someone named "Mezcal"

TIA...

not sure if this is what you need:

It was Mezcal, the restaurant owner who comped many a meal to Equusearch and who reacted furiously when the governor called for a boycott.

He said in a message of Oct 19, 2005 2:46: "I personally know 3 bartenders of C&C and ALL 3 of them have stated to the police that this happened. No need in denying it because C&C had the security tapes delivered the next day (the decided nit to wait for a month or two)"

COVER-UP BY ARUBA LE AND PROSECUTORS
Bet on it!

Yes Kermit, that is what I was looking for.  I had it saved but wasn't sure of the source.

I was interested in this "No need in denying it because C&C had the security tapes delivered the next day (the decided nit to wait for a month or two)"

Over the years the security tapes from C&C have come up a number of time.  From memory, many have stated the for SOME reason, the security tapes at this C&C were broken/non-functional at the time Natalee & JVDS were there that night.

JVDS mentions the tapes in the GVS interview -

Transcript: Joran van der Sloot Goes 'On the Record,' Part 1
Wednesday, March 01, 2006

VAN SUSTEREN: Do you have any idea what time you actually got out of Deepak's car? Can you estimate that?

VAN DER SLOOT: I can't say exactly when. I don't know exactly when. The only thing I can say for sure is when I was home because that's — you know you said it yourself to me that the most important thing is to look at facts and, you know, those are facts that you can actually say what time you got home, by video footage what time you left Carlos 'n Charlie's. Those are things you can actually, you know, actually really prove.

I believe JVDS stated that Natalee called the bartender over by name.  I wonder if those tapes showed who was serving, what bar, who ordered and who paid?

I wonder what happened to the tapes?

Wasn't C&C the success story that was put on the internet web site of the PR/crisis management company?  The one that was on Aruba to 'help' within like 72 hours after Natalee was known to be missing?

Thanks Kermit!

BOR is saying the FBI has determined, by the interviews they were allowed to sit in on, that Natalee most likely died from a drug/alcohol combination in the presence of Joran and her body was disposed of.

Beth is critical of the Aruban authorities for now allowing valuable resources to be used in the search for Natalee and in the case.  (FBI, TES couldn't do the last water search, etc).

BOR has used this assumption before as per what the FBI said. Its old news not proven and weakly reported I believe.
Its nothing more than a assumption, a date rape drug was probably used but only the three creeps there in Aruba know the real truth.

Carlos n' Charlie's - someone else knows - who slipped her the drugs in the drink?

Probably that bartender CLIVE who suddenly left Aruba in the summer of 2005.

GRRRRR!!!!

Yes, that is what I was thinking too.

Mobile telephones, drugs, and tools in bon Futuro13 Okt, 2008, 09:18 (GMT -04:00)

WILLEMSTAD – During the search of cells in the Bon Futuro-prison on Saturday, the authorities confiscated eleven mobile telephones, lids of marihuana, tools like a hammer and screwdriver, and a telephone charger.

The cells are searched on a regular basis.  It’s often families and friends that smuggle the forbidden items, like telephones; but these items are also thrown over the prison walls.  One mobile telephone was still wrapped in sponge, so that it doesn’t get damaged when thrown over the wall.

The personnel celebrated the Warders’ Day one day before the cell-search.  The warders’ day is celebrated in the Antilles, Aruba, and Surinam for a few years already.  The celebration is each year in one of those countries; this year is was in Aruba.   A delegation of warders travels each year to the country that organizes the celebration for social- and sports activities.  Next year is Surinam’s turn.  Prison-governor Bartolomeo Andrea said during the celebration in the canteen that the prison is in a change process.  “A lot has taken place already, and a lot more is going to change to turn the Bon Futuro into a model-jail, where warders can work in peace and where prisoners can be rehabilitated.

A cultural reorganization to motivate warders is already paying off.  Andrea appealed to the executives to continue motivating their personnel.  “The work of a warder is not easy.  Motivation is therefore important.”  He knows that some things need to be done differently, but that these have their attention.  There is for example an offer to cover the louvred windows with even harder material, because these are constantly sawn through.  But the material used must give good ventilation.  There are also proposals to increase the number of warders with 20.  The Netherlands is financing the training of these new warders.

New beacons for air traffic
13 Okt, 2008, 09:20 (GMT -04:00)

 Email dit artikel

WILLEMSTAD – After negotiations with supplier AERONAV, a contract was signed last week for the purchase of beacons for the air traffic that traverses the airspace of Curacao.  The first beacon is for Aruba and the second one for Curacao.  The current one in Curacao needs replacement bad.  Traffic-minister Maurice Adriaens (FOL) says:  “I am pleased with this.  As person with final responsibility for our aviation, I demand safety in our airspace.”

The air routes within the airspace of Curacao use two en route beacons, which are geographically placed on Aruba and Curacao.  A kind of radar sends signals to an airplane, so it can constantly monitor whether it flies in the right direction.  Both current beacons are more than 20 years old and need to be replaced.  The new beacons cost 1.6 million guilders each.  During his visit to Curacao in June of this year, the Dutch minister of Transport and Communications, Camiel Eurlings promised that the Netherlands will contribute with 250.000 euros (600.000 guilders).
The rest of the money must be paid from own income.
In order to make such investment possible, in March of this year the air traffic control substantially increased the tariffs for traversing the airspace.

“When the Air Traffic Control (NAATC) was put into operation, it appeared that we need big investments, because of the considerable maintenance arrears.  The airspace that comes under our responsibility is huge.  Our highly qualified air traffic controllers must take care of the safety of each flight that traverses the airspace”, says NAATC-director Micilia Verboom.

The airline companies are stubbornly resisting the new tariffs.  The problem was not so much the adjustment self, but the amount of the increase in connection with the extreme high fuel prices and rising taxes at that time.  NAATC increased the tariffs all at once with 50 percent to 47 guilders per traversed mile, plus a surcharge per type of aircraft.

AVP: reduction because PDO crisis
October 13, 2008, 15:22 (GMT -04:00)

AVP wants more promotion and richer tourists so that the beaches on Aruba does not remain empty. The opposition party also wants the PDO-rate cut.

ORANGE CITY - For the consequences for Aruba because of the global crisis in the financial markets to absorb, the government PDO-rate cut next year. This is the largest opposition party AVP. "All sails must be backed up by the recession around, a crisis that is already felt in Aruba," said group leader Mike Eman.

As already known the party gives the government largely to blame for the increased inflation. The introduction of the tax on business turnover (PDO) and the subsequent inflation, there is no real economic growth is more, says ASF. The prosperity and purchasing power loss on the Party of Aruba may not rise further and the entrepreneurs of the Government should therefore help gain. In addition to a reduction in the rate PDO is a "quality start" of the product needed to Aruba so the rich to attract tourists. This is the AVP at the same position as the Cabinet-Oduber. It also wants all these years by, among other things, attracting five-star hotels, tourists with a full scholarship to attract more. The opposition party says that the government has invested too little in terms of constraints. Eman: "A slap in the quality tourism does not only mean more investment by companies but also from the government in public facilities. And those are just the physical infrastructure is not done for years. The backlog in public spaces for the current product Aruba is already big, let alone that there is still a top quality battle to come. So vocational education is by no means limited to these necessary quality set battle. "By the impoverishment, increasing feeling of insecurity and chollers our island long runs against the limits of what a tourist would want to pay, is the conclusion of the group.

Tourism Fund
The group would also like last year's "Against Budget has been proposed, the promotiebudget to increase tourism. "But the government does not want to come over the bridge," said Eman, who says that this is desperately needed. In addition, the funds also are available for campaigns and not as now "not be made available for ATA when the need arises." The party refers back to a previously submitted bill for the establishment of a separate promotion fund with the proceeds from the direct taxes jump. The fund will be managed by Ahata ATA and thus improve the food market. This idea is not new; in Ahata and ATA lives this for years. Recently showed Ahata director Rob Smith already know that the members of the hotel and tourism sector even willing to put the city tax by one percentage increase in favor of the fund. The organization wants or that the government side of its commitments, but talks to this day has not reached a concrete result. Tourism Minister Edison Briesen Friday made known that each case together with Ahata invested in an extra promotional campaign for the United States to the declining bookings back to jacks. It is an amount of four million dollars, of which one million dollars of Ahata.

However, AVP criticizes the government for not having taken action earlier. "The tax revenue, including from the PDO, by the government to other matters and the extension of the administration spent." After a long period of impoverishment must now double efforts, says Eman who says that Aruba should take into with the less good years, as the years just after the attacks in the U.S. (9 / 11). The good news here is that oil prices to fall, said the group. He therefore expects the annual inflation of 11.2 percent in August going down, something that even by recent figure of the CBS is supported and economist Ben Marapin last week in this newspaper predicted. Yet there remains AVP that something must be done to the PDO. "Last year and this year the PDO package inflation and the tax burden increased by one third. The higher tax burden in recent years has made Aruba unnecessarily vulnerable to these times. "
The party has already indicated that it is a gradual abolition of the sales tax.

Power failure for not remedied
October 14, 2008, 17:09 (GMT -04:00)

The transformer of Elmar in the Horse Bay Street, the next two months volleidg shelf. The repair work by specialists from the Netherlands should be carried out.

ORANGE CITY - The power outage yesterday that the vast majority of flat explained Oranjestad, is still not resolved by Elmar. An explosion which led to the fire in a transformer of the electricity in the Horse Bay Street has destroyed the whole plant, making sure that the next two months out of action remains. The power supply for Orange City and the surrounding area is provisionally diverted through other substations, but it is important that each consumer's electricity consumption reduces, to prevent a full power outage. The damage runs according to Elmar director Freddy Raffin in the millions and must be remedied specialists from the Netherlands. The next two weeks so there is talk of an unstable flow situation on our island.

Yesterday morning there was an explosion in a switch instead of the substation to the Horse of Elmar Bay Street, in front of the building of Boogaard Insurance. This explosion was a fire caused by the installation of 12,000 volts in the substation completely destroyed. As a consequence, fell from power in the region from Pos Abao, at the height of the Eagle Bowling Palace, to the low-rise hotels, like the immediate vicinity of Oranjestad to Sabana Blanco and Tanki Leendert. The vast majority of the shops on the L.G. Smith Boulevard to the Caya Betico Croes had to shut down.

The initial repair work will certainly take two weeks. There is nobody on the island who can perform this work, so there must be specialists from the Netherlands to be flown here, said Raffin. It is not yet known when these specialists arrive on the island, but according to Elmar spokesperson Zelda Curiel, the technical director has made contact with them.

The situation remains serious because Elmar electricity for through other substations should redirect. The substation-out remains, according Raffin, at least two months out of action. For the area that was yesterday mannered, there are usually eight main transformers that provide for a stable electricity supply. "At the moment, however, because of the damage caused by the explosion of a short circuit yesterday and last Saturday in a high-voltage underground cable instead has found, there are only four main transformers in operation," said Raffin. "As a result, there is now talk of a flawed distribution system, where a severe shortage of both transformer and distribution capacity."

Consume less energy
If everyone continues to consume electricity as usual this can be a complete power failure cause, said Raffin. Therefore, he made an urgent appeal to consumers, while he was fully supported by Rob Smith and Greg Peterson of Ahata of ATIA undertakings, so as to minimize power consumption, so that anyone on the island can have electricity.
Smith said that the hotels since yesterday are the consumption of electricity as much as possible to reduce, by the elevators in the least occupied parts of the hotels off by as little as possible and outdoor use. "There is no other way to solve this problem, so we must all make our contribution," said Smith.
Peterson added Even her: "ATIA therefore calls on all entrepreneurs in the field mannered To minimize possible to consume electricity. This may, for example, the air conditioner and a half hours before departure off, and X-rays which are not necessary for the operation off. Thus less energy consumption so we are not all the victims of a power outage. Try also to see the positive side, the next electricity bill is lower. "
Raffiné said that the restoration of electricity to all consumers far only possible if everyone is his own consumption is minimized: "Less energy consumption at home in this case electricity for the neighbors. If this does not happen, or not enough, Elmar then proceed to deliberately interrupt the electricity supply in certain areas. "According Raffin, the energy company in the coming days energy closely. "We view the situation from day to day and hand them to determine what steps we should take."

Majeure
The exact cause of the explosion is still unknown, but according to the spokesman Elmar, Zelda Curiel, it is overdue. The Elmar Director believes that it is not lack of maintenance, because the substations two weeks ago preventative maintenance. "With infrared equipment was to see whether there are temperature differences between the switches and this was not the case. The incident is not due to lack of maintenance "said Raffin. In each case the electricity not count on the cooperation of the workers covered by collective agreements, since they still carry action. "The inconvenience caused as a result of the fire, but also due to the weather, at this moment must be remedied by the staff," said Curiel. This is actually the middle-and upper part technicians who do not fall under the collective agreement. "The other workers still action in connection with the collective agreement and it is very unfortunate that under these circumstances, we can not count on them. Well, we have received permission from the court to hired forces to use, so all emergency operations are affected by these temporary employees and staff members carried out, "said Curiel.

A little light reading for everyone.  Thanks for the heads up CJ....courtesy of Gold Monkeys.

I hope someone will translate better for us so we will know just exactly what was said.  Joran sure travels around doesn't he?  We may have already known this, but I missed it if we did.  Take it for what it's worth...I am not attesting to the accuracy of the articles.  Heck, I can't even read Dutch.

ARUBA: It's all about Natalee...we won't give up!

Yes the story came out a couple of weeks ago, there has been some discussion as to the actual location of the sighting.  I had this saved.  The photo (shopped?) pic of him surrounded with children also came out at about the same time.

I stand with the girl, Natalee Holloway.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.

Picture with children posted, was about a week before the Bhutan story

I brought up the picture because I've seen both stories recently also.

Hurricane Omar Batters Aruba, Heads for U.S. Islands
Tuesday , October 14, 2008

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands —

Omar strengthened into a hurricane late Tuesday and drenched islands in the southeastern Caribbean, downing trees and blowing off a school's roof as it menaced U.S. islands.

Authorities issued a hurricane warning for the U.S. Virgin islands as well as Puerto Rico's Vieques and Culebra islands. Hurricane warnings were also in place for St. Martin, the British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis and other islands.

Officials in Puerto Rico, already soaked from several days of rain, warned residents to prepare for a lot more and medical authorities appealed for blood donations for possible casualties.

Omar was a Category 1 hurricane with 75 mph winds, and the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami projected it to continue to gain strength.

The center predicted the storm would likely pass by Puerto Rico overnight Wednesday, and possibly deliver a direct blow to the nearby U.S. and British Virgin Islands.

In the U.S. Virgin Islands, business grew steadily at a St. Thomas supermarket Tuesday afternoon as people bought batteries, water and canned goods. Outside, rain fell as Darrell George tugged an overloaded shopping cart topped with a case of large water jugs.

"I try my best to get everything I need and my family needs, so I don't get caught with my pants down," George said. "With what has been going on lately, we can't take anything for granted."

Emergency management director Mark Walters urged islanders to take the warnings seriously.

"This is the time to take those precautions, in terms of getting your family and your personal selves ready for the storm," he said.

Classes and ferry services were canceled in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Several large trees in the Dutch island of Aruba toppled over because the ground was so saturated. The roof over a teachers' lounge and office at an Aruba school flew off. No injuries were reported.

The hurricane center said Omar was expected to plow over the Caribbean islands then head northeast toward the central North Atlantic, well away from the U.S. mainland.

At 11 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Omar's center was located about 315 miles south-southwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to the center. It was moving east-northeast at near 6 mph.

A new tropical depression also formed Tuesday and was moving slowly off the coast of northeastern Honduras
