If anyone has not had the opportunity to read Dave Holloway's book, I posted an excerpt from ABC's Good Morning America at this link.  It is a 2006 article, that I came across today.  I think anyone that has an interest in this case should read the books by both of Natalee's parents.  They are both excellent.  I'm also hoping that Beth will write a second book in time to reveal things that couldn't be revealed in the first.

I started a new thread for Natalee's birthday tomorrow.  It is her 22nd and will be the fourth that she has not celebrated with her family and loved ones.  So sad...

Finance Minister Nilo Swaen informed this morning to the press that the government re-invest millions more in promoting tourism to an additional impetus.


ORANGE CITY - To the negative effects of the economic crisis, especially in the United States to absorb, the government is ready next year to 10 million dollars (17.5 million florin) extra to invest in the promotion of tourism. This is in addition to the budgeted amount for 2009 of 30 million florin for marketing and the additional 3 million dollars which the government agreed two weeks ago.

This morning at the Central Bank took a joint press conference instead of personalities from the public and private sector. Present were Prime Minister Nelson Oduber, Finance Minister Nilo Swaen, President of Central Bank Jane Semeleer and representatives of Aruba Tourism Authority, its commercial equivalent Ahata, Central Bureau of Statistics and Department of Economic Affairs. "The aim of the press is also in order to reassure the public. The financial sector has been spared here of the crisis in the world, "said Minister Swaen advance to the press. The government has numerous agencies met last week and financial-economic analysis. As pointed out earlier by the Central Bank was announced, the industry here barely noticed what the financial crisis that began in the United States, is the conclusion of those meetings.

Extra money for tourism
Yet the government to come to the conclusion that additional investments in tourism are needed. "The economic outlook is so far so good," says Swaen, "but for the coming year we have decided to make extra money in the promotion plan for the tourism sector to stop, because the course remains our main economic pillar." The minister indicates namely that the crisis this sector has somewhat affected, given the disappointing bookings. This was previously published by the branch Ahata. Exact figures are not known but Ahata are the signals in each case so that the industry itself spends 1.3 million dollars extra, this is the most money in promotion of Aruba stabbed in the U.S..
Tourism Minister Edison Briesen made known two weeks ago is still 3 million dollars in public money and thus Swaen Minister said today that there are still 10 million dollars in this situation. The money is put into the so-called contingency plan either, according to a Briesen, 'aggressive' publicity and marketing strategy.

The Royal Cabana Casina was closed October 2005 in an agreement with the Aruban government. They owned the land and Luis Mansur leased it from them.

Is this the same Luis Mansur that is in jail for the drug offenses? Is this Jossy's brother? Can anyone verify one way or the other, please?  TIA

LOL...Not them...I want to know how my new buddy's name keeps popping up to do with La Cabana.

Trying to make sense of it all...BlueGreen is into the timeshares, guess they run the bookings, but the Resort was acquired by KL Holding Company at auction in 2007, from Playa Blanca NV, Luis Mansur. Though it seems Mr Mansur's assets disappeared into other companies...Will leave that for another day!
