This is the only thing Dutch news brings on . .

The police of Bonaire has a area on the island closed for investigation into the missing Marlies van der Kouwe. Two specialists from the Dutch Forensic Institute conduct the investigation today.

A TV station on Bonaire reports that parts of her body, uncovered by the Hurricane Omar were found. The police denies that.

This is just so sad...even though an unhappy ending was expected, it is such a gruesome, horrific tragedy for Marlies and her family.

I do hope the LE have the right suspects in custody and not just scapegoating them to close the case to avoid negative publicity for tourism's sake.

I pray that the Dutch officials realize the need to "clean" up these islands...that tourism is not the "end all be all" determining factor for crime, corruption & cronyism continuing unabated.

Just terrible, but not unexpected. Prayers for the family van der Kouwe.

I am glad that the truth of fate appears to be known, but the rest of her body needs to be recovered to be properly buried and to help conclude the exact cause of death.

Thanks Johan, Bastibro, Caps and to caesu for bring this sad sad case to our attention with the hopes we could help the family.

This was not an unexpected outcome, but at least the family will not wonder for years and years what happened to Marlies.

God Bless her family and friends.

Prayers for her family and young friends.

Has there been any talk about the suspect arrested for the attempted kidnapping of the young daughter of the drug kingpin?  I am not so sure there shouldn't be a different suspect for this abduction, especially if the drug guy got a ransom call.

Buckeye - last I heard about two weeks ago or so, it was still an ongoing investigation and they say they are not connected. I have no idea if that is true or not, just what I was told.

A warning from a Student @ SJSM
I am currently a MD1 at SJSM, i got here on the 27th of august and have been here for only 2 weeks. After completing my classes for the day yesterday (sept 12) i proceeded to walk home by myself @ around 3 pm, along the way i got jumped and someone pistol whipped me from behind (i have a fairly large bump on my head), i fell down and the theif proceeded to stand behind me and press his gun ( a old school revolver) to my temple, i couldnt understand wat he was saying so i motioned him to my wallet (which luckily had nothing in it except 200 US in cash, no ID's nothing), he took the wallet and then began to c o c k (prepare it for shooting) his revolver, i realized that this man was going to clip me right there and then so being a muslim I said the KALMA and closed my eyes as I waited for him to pull the trigger, i dont know wat happened afterwards but I collapsed from the blunt force trauma he inflicted on me earlier and woke up to find he was gone, I ran home and luckily my roomates were still around.

Now the thing to note here is that this happened in broad daylight and I am a 6 foot 2, 230 lbs ex bouncer from london ontario canada. Afterwards, getting the police to come over was a hassle my friends actullay had to physically go to the police station to bring a cop. I went to the ER and they had no doctor in the building, eventually however a doctor showed up and told me i had a blunt force contusion and that i should just take pain killers.

What I want to make special note of is that the SJSM community was there for me, students, the student council, even the professors and even the dean and his family came to the hospital to make sure I was okay, it was incredibly touching and I will never forget it.

Now in a situation like this there is really no one to blame, if I was walking home by myself @ 2am and I got jumped then I would definetly blame myself, but this was at 3pm in the afternoon on a sunny beautiful day so I cant really take the heat on this one.

My advise to all of you coming to the island is this, this kind of stuff does happen but it is crucial that none of you walk any where by yourself on this island and please carry no ID or Credit Cards in your wallet leave it at home and carry some cash thats it. If you can afford a car I would definitely suggest it.

Now where do I go from here... there is a part of me that wants to pack up and leave right now, but then there the part of that wants to stay and stand strong. I have never been in a situation like this, I cant sleep, eat or do anything, I have never been terrified in my life and takes a whole lot to scare a guy like me. I cant focus, I feel like I cant even breath. God only knows where I go from here... we will see.
