Aruba police under pressure

THE HAGUE/ARUBA – “When it comes to combating criminality, like drug dealing, our police officers are pressured”, explained Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP) the protocol for the cooperation with the Dutch police today.

That’s the reason why Aruba wants support from the Netherlands to see how to cope with this and how to resist the tempting corruption.

“The Netherlands is also faced with these problems on a daily basis and has therefore a lot of experience in this field.  We want to learn from that experience.”

Oduber also indicated that Aruba is striving for this same kind of cooperation in other areas, like border control.  Aruba has already contacted the Royal Military Police about this.  “We live from tourism.  Since the terrorist attacks in the United States, all sorts of international measures were announced and we have to comply with those.  We would like to interpret these well, so that the tourism do not experience unfavourable effects of these.”

what a crock, under pressure. Pffft.

In the last year and a half we have not heard of one single drug bust, one single raid, arrest, nothing.  If they are under so much pressure to clean up the drug problem, maybe they should start arresting some drug dealers.  Its not like they dont know where they are or who they are.

Did you hear from your source re. those 3 articles Klaas mentioned yesterday? I've tried to watch for a response but may have missed it.

Thank you.

Thanks San!  I'm not sure why but Arlene really irritates me.  Wink

because you hate being told you don't understand their system?  because it was a conflict of interest that she was on talking while her cousin was implicated?

Because she was lying to us and acting as though we were stupid for not believing her?

LilPuma, doesn't it sound like the blogger from the link San posted, Mr. Bailey was corresponding with Julia -(or what name she refers to herself as today) ?

Could be, but they sounded more articulate and refined than I've ever heard Julia speak.  But I don't go to RU to see how she writes.  The total denial of racial issues in Aruba sounds like her though.  Along with the arrest of the guards, the "cowboys" statement by KJ, and GVC taking his blankets and pillows to jail, I seem to recall there was some discontent when the Dutch did the re-enactment because the person playing Joran wasn't white.  Whoever it is does sound like they're American though.

No, not yet.  He doesn't get to come out and play as much as he used to.  This is taken from an email I was sent a few weeks ago.

Whenever I don't communicate at once, please believe me it is not intentional but due to extra burdens my wife puts on me when in Miami (visiting all the malls that exist, taking her out to dinner, etc. etc.).

Will always answer, no matter if a couple of days go by.YOU will hear from me. Rest assured of that.

Aruba: Prime Minister Nelson Oduber “We live from tourism” … Then act like it

http://www.scaredmonkeys.com/2006/09/21/aruba-prime-minister-nelson-oduber-%e2%80%9cwe-live-from-tourism-then-act-like-it/

Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber continues to live in a world of denial. Is it the police thats under pressure, or MEP? By the way Oduber, 9–11 is not the reason why your tourism hit the skids. Stop fooling yourself and stop lying to your people

Who is he kidding.  Still trying to make excuses.  911 didn't effect his island one bit.  He made the choice not to help with the NH case from day one so now live with that choice.  I hope he looks at what he has done to that island every day for the rest of his life.  The unfortunate thing is he won't be the one suffering for his actions.  He did all this damage because he didn't have the balls to follow the law and arrest the murderers of Natalee Holloway.  I sure hope it was worth it.  This guy is an embarrassment.

Sometimes I ask myself why he did it and the only reason I come up with is that he is either involved or a family member of his is involved JMO.

Was this crime so horrific that he could not tell the world what happened.

Call me gullable, but I really got excited when I found out that the Dutch were coming to help out.

but now I get a sinking feeling it is just like all the other times we got jazzed up about something only to be let down.

This really sucks.

Yes it does and if you read the latest statement we published, the fix was in early, early as earlier than July 8th, just sounds like they were forgetting to make sure everyone knew the changes...

I responded to the FP article, reacting to Oduber's comments about the recommendations since 9/11 and interpreting them, asking what the hell they've been doing since 2001....'tempting corruption' is also mentioned, and I percieve that as complicity within the polis force....someone is guilty, and that is collectively from the top.   (don't think my post has gone through admin yet)

I believe it.

I started getting a very hincky feeling after the confession was retracted.  One minute it is reported that suspect confessed and would lead them to her body, then POOF....as it never even happened.

Such bull.

They wanted you to feel excitement Jacq.  In my opinion there is a game plan we just don't know what it is.

They did a test run of trying to say what happened to Natalee when that fat head Dompig went on 48 hours and said he believes Natalee overdosed because his BIL saw her with drugs in her possession Rolling Eyes .  Boy did that backfire big time Evil or Very Mad .

Holland wanted in on the game.  They want to show Aruba this is how you fool everyone.

Holland has been in on this since day one also.  How many times did Karin Janssen make her trips to Holland about the investigation.  If she was having problems with certain people I'm sure she would have let them know.  Each time she went she took the chief of police with her (Van der Straaten and Dompig).

THEY ONLY NEEDED THE FBI TO COME IN AND HELP THEM AND THEY DIDN'T WANT THAT.

Yes San, I feel as if they are toying with everyone.

That's what makes it so awful. All these ups and downs for her family is downright cruel.

Like it wasn't cruel enough that they lost their daughter, now they're being jerked around.

Jacqueline - I was fairly optimistic about this Dutch team until I saw that article.

San - and many others -

Now that we think of it - the last thing Aruba would risk is the FBI turning over some rocks. God knows what would be uncovered. Tentacles into drugs, porn, money-laundering ...

So why would they want a Dutch team investigating? Methinks the investigation is to be a very well-defined project - boundries cast in bronze. That's the detail they've been working out.

I wonder if Paulus wrote the boundries.
