Old Fart, you would be correct, don't even get me on that soapbox....

Mrs. Red
I'm just glad for  Andiac

No, I got that - I just agree with you ... and the firm I work for handles quite a few divorces... I usually see the kids lose... and I HATE it...

Mrs Red
Glad we are on the same side :whewww:

I always wondered why certain aspects of "Paternity & Child Welfare"  are NOT under Federal Law?  (They may be and I'm not aware of them)

From local news article today..
"Harboring illegal aliens is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for each alien. Hiring or recruiting illegal aliens is a federal misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in prison and a fine of $3,000 for each illegal alien."

Not meeting parental financial obligation is ??

Sorry... Not the correct Forum to bring this up in... topic closed ..

OF, It is under the Federal Child Support Enforcement Act but that takes time and it does nothing to give a kid two caring parents which is the real lose.  As grandparents we would ensure he had finacial and materal needs covered.  Not eveyone can do that but they dont need the best of everything.  They DO need a loving family structure.  That is something money cannot buy and laws cannot enforce.

Mishy, Let me put this in perspective.  This guy is 36 my daughter is 26.  He makes 235K my daughter makes 19K plus commission of around 10K.  He has paid a total of $0.00 toward any medical bills from birth to present, only 4 daycare payments totalling around $700.  I myself have paid double that helping her with daycare alone, and $0.00 in support or material help for the baby who is now 18  months old.

And as long as she has a child support case against him the BILL will never go away.. If she has never filed and the child is over 18 then she is out of luck.. SHe needs to find out where the clown work and turn him in
The state will go in and take everything and his drivers license, Business
or what ever licenses he may hold

The outcome of divorce all depends upon the lawyers involved.  When I was going through my first divorce, which was ugly, a good friend I worked with approached me.  He said, "I hear you are getting a divorce."

I said it sure looked that way.

His divorce had become the topic of office folklore, because his ex had cleaned his clock.  I was a little more than shocked when he passed me the lawyer’s business card.  I must have had a very skeptical look on my face, because he laughed and said, “he wasn’t my lawyer; he was hers.”

His advice was well received and I made the call.  Things went my way from that day on, but there was a price to pay.

The right lawyer can make all the difference in a divorce.  In my case, just the name of the guy made other divorce lawyers tremble and settlement followed quickly.  Ugly business, but true…..

Happy Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah!

Mrs. Red wrote me earlier "HAPPY NEW YEAR... in case you don't make it to the Lounge...."

I was consumed  by the political thread, the unsolved cases thread and the Monkey lounge thread.

Now I'm here.  Overly late.

My apologies to all of you.  I tend to use this place as a notepad for my random thoughts.  I shouldn’t do that.  No harm is intended.  I just get a little lost in my thoughts at times.

Dear Easywriter,

Don't apologize. Continue to use the forum as a notepad. And remember this thing written by Max Ehrmann in 1927.

DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be
greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career
however humble;
it is a real possession in the
changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you
to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit
to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham,
drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Three ministers in The Hague

ARUBA/THE HAGUE – Three Aruban ministers are in the Netherlands this week on business.  Minister Nilo Swaen of Economic Affairs and Finance had a meeting with Minister Gerrit Zalm (VVD) in The Hague.  Justice-minister Rudy Croes met with Piet Hein Doner, who stepped down a day later.  Prime Minister Nelson Oduber presented Herman Tjeenk Willink, vice-president of the Council of State with ‘his’ book.  Oduber and Croes signed a protocol with the Dutch police with the ministers Atzo Nicolai and Johan Remker (both VVD) earlier this week.

I'd step down too if I had to meet with Rudy.

Looks like Rudy shaved that dumb beard.
