Jose has been "practicing", and I do mean just practicing, cause he has not learned it yet, for only 3 years.

What did he do before?

I could be wrong, but isn't this Esquire Baez?

WESH 2 News has learned that Casey Anthony’s lawyer, Jose Baez, is not qualified to represent his client in a capital murder case.

Within 175 days from her indictment, by Florida law, prosecutors have to try Anthony for first-degree murder. Anthony’s daughter, Caylee, was reported missing in mid-July

The state has strict guidelines for who can and can not represent a capital murder defendant. Legal expert William Shaeffer said Baez does not qualify.

He’s not been a member of the Florida bar for five years, criminal procedure,” Shaeffer said.

According to his spokesman, Baez is well aware of this policy and has assembled a team of legal experts to assist him including an attorney qualified to try a death case.

I would still love to know who is funding all this????  That little place the Anthony's live in can't begin to have enuf equity or resale value to even begin to pay the legal defense charges so far...and now a team of legal experts?? Including that dumbass Kobe....gggrrrrrrrrre     JMO

I thought Baez was representing Casey pro bono.

pink angel

ah thanks for the walk through on ebay reporting. From what I read the site has to do with counseling for families of abducted children..... This doesnt even seem to pertain to any search of Caylee, not that I wouldn't support a site like that. But using Caylee's picture is misleading

Good Morning Monks!!  Thanks for posting this....interesting post for sure.  I report the Caylee photo to eBay and forward it to Nancy Grace.

Does anyone know who the attorney is that Lee has reportedly hired?  Wondering if the attorney is a Criminal Defense attorney? That might be telling.

It is very telling that Baez stood incourt along side this guy, and did not even introduce him to the judge and the court.  Even the legal talking heads on TV didn't know who he was.  He knows that he cannot continue as lead attorney, but refuses to step aside. Good grief!  I hope we don't end up with grounds for re-trial based upon incompetent representation.

I think JB will milk the free publicity for as long as possible...he know IF  the DA asks for the death penalty he HAS to step back and then the focus will be on the new attorney....JB is loving his 'status'  right now but knows it is soon going to be gone!!!

I don't see Baez lasting long along side a skilled attorney. Baez strikes me as too full of pride to actually let someone else tell him to sit down and shut-up.

Do we know anything about the Anthony family having a connection to Baez BEFORE all of this started? What about a connection b/t the Anthonys and the person opposing what's his name -- Lawson? If Baez has known for quite some time, and I'd argue he has known from the get-go as we all have, that Casey would face a murder charge, why the hell didn't he step aside earlier? Is he that much of an attention ho?

Some think Annie was Casey's xanax contact. Annie was interviewed by LE but her statement has not been released. She also lived at Sawgrass with her boyfriend, Dante, around the same time. Very suspicious!

Thank you very much to all who answer my question Smile

It has been reported that KC knew Baez's daughter. Not sure if this is accurate.

I have never seen confirmation on that??  Perhaps so...however I would still like to know for sure.....and the team of leagal experts??  who is going to be paying them?  And I can't imagine that Kobe comes cheap, then they want independent testing done, and several times JB has mention his 'investigators'....just curious about all this

Let's not insult the hard working street sweeper dude. I'd say JB was doing some sort of job in which he could lie to people and rip people off. I won't venture any suggestions for what that job might be. I'm sure monkeys have ideas.

Now that I think about it, I'd rather have street sweeper dude represent me. I'm sure he could do a better job. Matter of fact, I'm sure a brick or a rock could do a better job than Baez.

i don't know if this has been discussed but is the mike that casey told lee she wanted to talk to in her phone call from jail mike baez and is he related to jose baez?  would that be how he got to be her attorney so quickly?

IIRC, Casey went to school with Mike and he had a crush on her.  I have never heard that Mike and Jose were related.

hmm I thought she asked for tony's #, I could be wrong though. Sorry if I am and for butting in.

I don't know, but last night on NG, I heard them say Baez's experience included getting a doctor off from some charges. Maybe Cindy worked with that doc and that's how she heard of Baez? Just a thought.

I thought LE suggested Baez from the beginning!
thats interesting that le would reccommend him...it really doesn't matter i guess...just curious...i know she asked for a mike...and then i heard she had a friend named mike baez...she must have asked during a jail visit because i just listened to the phone calls again and it's not there...just wondered if there was a connection.

You're not kidding. Besides, the street sweeper is at least doing his own work--unlike JB who had to be told repeatedly to do his own work cause the state isn't going to do it for him.
