In his remarks Obama said that despite the crisis on Wall Street that better days were ahead for the country and the world if they embraced his leadership. "We have already seen the mountain top from the deepest valley," he said, before pointing out that America can have a new destiny with the Obama-Biden ticket.

Obama noted that while "Sen. McCain has tried to tone down his rhetoric and be more respectful" with his most recent remarks, that McCain deserves honor for serving this country.

He then said that does not negate the fact that it was McCain and his Republican colleagues who has led the country into the current economic crisis.

Obama asked the diner owner how was business. He said not good since his regular customers could no longer afford to eat out as much.

Yet the owner insisted that he was voting the Republican ticket come November.

"I asked him, 'If you keep hitting your head against the wall for hours and it hurts, do you stop?'" said Obama. "He said to me, 'You make a good point.' I think I might get his votePeople want a change. Change means rebuilding the economy of places like here in Philadelphia."

Didn't anyone notice that the default rate for risky loans was rising?  Did anyone try to stop it?  Did anyone show concern that people were taking out loans they could not afford?  Risky loans?

Who supported increasing loans to riskier home buyers?  Did anyone wonder why more were in default?  Why didn't the change start earlier?

How did the investment banks/Freddie/Fannie get all these risky bad loans?  Would the problem exist if banks had been more conservative and did not take on so many substandard loans?

Why didn't someone tell all the little people taking out loans to be more conservative?  Didn't anyone encourage them to stop?

It is amazing to me that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

History will be written by and revised by the victors, but in the age of the internet, I hope the truth is out there for future generations.
