Tierra del Sol*****

Messy poorly maintained complex. The location is very nice. The house where we were was very austere furnishings for a complex with so many stars. Where they deserve to those stars? I have not been able to discover, except the location. On Saturday the bar very unfriendly staff, the lady who was called in complaints was even obnoxious. For my family a disappointing stay at Tierra del Sol. Aruba itself is a great island but now I would still opt for another resort!


Rommelig slecht onderhouden complex. De ligging is wel heel mooi. Het huis waar wij in zaten was wel heel sober ingericht voor een complex met zoveel sterren. Waar verdienen ze die sterren aan? Ik heb het niet kunnen ontdekken, behalve de ligging. Aan de balie zat bijzonder onvriendelijk personeel, de dame die bij klachten werd geroepen was zelfs onhebbelijk. Voor mijn gezin een teleurstellend verblijf op Tierra del Sol. Aruba zelf is een prima eiland maar ik zou voortaan toch kiezen voor een ander resort!

   We were very disappointed in the Renaissance Marina after 2 nights and fled to the Radisson. That was a bit better . Renaissance is perhaps best fun as a city hotel (many shops and restaurants in immediate vicinity) but not if you want a beach holiday. The private island is right for the airport, it was a huge noise of the planes and to smell kerosene. We also prefer to walk to the beach than ever on a boat to wait. The room was very noisy (the sound of the whole day shopping and you could not see daylight, because the indoor shopping mall where you inkeek).

Wij waren erg teleurgesteld in het Renaissance Marina en zijn na 2 nachten gevlucht naar het Radisson. Dat was fantastisch. Renaissance is misschien best leuk als stadshotel (veel winkeltjes en restaurants in directe omgeving) maar niet als je ook een strandvakantie wilt. Het prive-eiland ligt recht voor het vliegveld; het was een enorm kabaal van de vliegtuigen en stonk naar kerosine. We lopen ook liever naar het strand dan steeds op een bootje moeten wachten. De kamer was heel gehorig (de hele dag geluid van het winkelcentrum en je kon geen daglicht zien, vanwege het overdekte winkelcentrum waar je inkeek).

I do not understand why everyone is so much praise or hotel rooms are small and we were above the taxi stand very loud place, I must honestly say we have ever been better accommodation's order had come to say I've had a great vacation NO Operation is very expensive and slow there was not much to do (unless you hold Dutch pubs inclusive and fricandellen a cow on the roof)

Ik snap niet waarom iedereen zo veel lof is of dit hotel de kamers zijn klein en wij zaten boven de taxi staan plaats erg luidruchtig ik moet eerlijk zeggen we hebben wel eens betere accomodatie's gehad Om nou te zeggen ik een geweldige vacantie gehad heb NEE De bediening is traag erg duur en er viel niet veel te beleven (behalve als je van hollandse kroegen houdt incl fricandellen en een koe op het dak )

   this was our honymoon, ocean suite represented, well, frankly not only bigger and not really clean the rooms here sjiek.Blijkbaar be chaste until the afternoon, we feel bad, good breakfast but not extensive, dinner very thin and unlike other recansies lg smith we were bad, we therefore recommend to just take breakfast there are enough good restaurants.De operation and service, friendliness we encountered as a hotel really disappointing, the only real asset was always super friendly and always ready to standing LINDA regulates everything from excursies.NB as honymoon and 41 to have arrived in delay, there was no attention. beautiful island of Aruba, good location, service and price, unfortunately never this hotel, really jammer.de ordinary rooms we visited, very sad, For more info feel free to mail, flippegixxer@pandora.be

dit was onze honymoon,ocean suite gerserveerd,nou ja,eerlijk alleen groternniet echt proper en niet sjiek.Blijkbaar worden de kamers hier pas gekuist na de middag,vinden wij slecht,ontbijt prima maar niet uitgebreid,avondeten erg mager en in tegenstelling tot andere recansies vonden wij lg smith slecht,wij raden dan ook aan gewoon ontbijt te nemen er zijn immers voldoende lekker restaurants.De bediening en servic,klantvriendelijkheid vonden wij voor zo een hotel echt teleurstellend,enige echte pluspunt was de immer supervriendelijke en altijd klaarstaande LINDA die alles regelt van excursies.NB als honymoon en 41 in vertraging aangekomen te zijn was er geen enkele attentie,.Aruba mooi eiland ,goede ligging ,servic en prijs,helaas nooit meer dit hotel,echt jammer.de gewone kamers hebben we bezocht,erg triestig,Voor meer info mail gerust,flippegixxer@pandora.be

WE ARE OWNERS AT THE MARRIOTT ARUBA CLUB AND STAYED LAST WEEK, MY DAUGHTER WAS 3 WEEKS POST-OP FROM MAJOR BACK SURGERY..THE MANAGER OF THE ARUBA CLUB WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO USE A CUSHION FROM THE LOUNGE CHAIR AT THE MARRIOTT HOTEL RIGHT NEXT DOOR. THEY SAID IT WAS AGAINST POLICY. I THINK THEY NEED TO CHANGE THEIR POLICY, AND BE MORE FLEXIBLE.

Let me tell you about our horrible experience. We bought a timeshare last year at the Marrriot and just stayed there 2 weeks ago for our one year wedding anniversary. 2 weeks before we arrived we received a notice stating there would be construction and there would be "some noise and dust." We were woken up every morning including Sat. at 7:30 am! Jackhammering, trucks, yelling, etc. You could not even sit on the balcony and have coffee because the men would hoot and holler and say obscene things. We asked to be moved and they said they were full. All week we saw people checking in and out and they refused to move us. We even asked if we could stay in the hotel and they said no! We are so dissapointed and we were even going to buy another timeshare at the new surf club but changed our minds. When we spoke with the salesperson (Claudia) and told her we were not going to buy again she didn't even bat an eyelash. They make promises and promises and then once they have your money, they don't care. We will be using our points and staying at the hotel next year. What kind of vacation is it when you are rudely awoken that early?? Besides the vacation club our vacation was great. All future buyers of the timeshares take heed!! You will not get what you are promised. Such a shame!!

Marriott Vacation Club was a bad idea
I am in the Surf Club as I write this. What I have learned over the last 7 days is that joining the Marriot Vacation Club is a Big Mistake. They are very deceitful as we have uncovered from their many lies this week.

My family bought a timeshare in the Aruba Surf Club last year. As part of the purchase, they were guaranteed a free room for them to use the next year. Well here we are and the room is not free. What we found is that Marriott booked another room for them, but did not tell them about. So this "room" has been vacant for the whole week and the vacation club refuses to give my parents their free room. When we checked in, they put us in 2 rooms and did not say anything about the "other room". We did not even know about it until yesterday when I signed up to take the tour and they asked me if I was in a different room number. When we looked further into this, we then found that this room was assigned to us, but no one had told us. Now after my parents have spent 2 hours today of their vacation time in the Marriott Vacation Club office, they were told that this was their fault and they were now responsible for 3 rooms.

They are not attempting to make any remedy for THEIR mistake and are trying to put the blame on my family.

Additionally, when we took the tour of Marriot Vacation Club, where they attempt to sell timeshares, they said they had childcare provided. What we found was that they had an empty room where you could put your children, while you are given a tour. There was no supervision. Additionally, they reported that this would only take 90 minutes of no pressure sales. However, are sales rep talked for about 2 hours, even when we reported that we had to leave because of a reservation we had following the meeting.

This next issue is minor in comparison in being charge for a room that you were told was free. However, we were also promised 2 free beach bags and a nice beach towel. We only received 1 bag. We had to rush to get to our reservation, that we were late for, we did not have time to argue this discrepancy with them at the time. However, as we have learned from the argument over the room, Marriott Vacation Club likes to place the blame on the Guest and not themselves. My brother's family did not receive all of the items they were promised either.

This is the worst customer service possible. Please take our advice and be weary of purchasing a time share from Marriott Vacation Club. As my family currently owns a unit and are being treated unfairly. Please take our word and believe that this is not a good idea. No one wants to pay a company to be lied to and told that any mistakes that the hotel makes are the customer's fault.

When we arrived we were given a room and then told that the following day we would need to switch rooms, because that was their policy. As if that was not annoying enough, my sneakers got stolen and when I alerted the staff they did not do anything about it until my last day. The only thing they did about it my last day was tell me that I had waited to long to report it, even though I had reported it 4 days earlier. They never apoligized or did anything to try and make it better. The hotel was under construction at the time, and sometimes the elevators would not work. I have never stayed at such a horrible hotel.

I would like to file a complaint with the RIU Hotels in regards to my week stay in Aruba at their resort where I had many unpleasant experiences regarding the service and food. If you could advise what my next step is I would appreciate it... there doesn't appear to be any contact information on the RIU website.

   Finally, after several complaints over two days of a completely dead and unusable telephone, I said I was going to post our problems with the Holiday Inn on the Internet, our room phone was checked. After they went up to our room to “check” the phone, it worked.

Not only was our phone not working, but the shower would not give hot water.

Make sure you don’t rely on the front desk check-in staff who say that you have everything you need for your stay. You may need tickets for each person, each breakfast, and not just the paid voucher.

The hostess told us that we needed to get the yellow tickets. After three attempts to get the tickets, the hostess said that “all you had to do was stop at the cashier and she would have let you in.” When I told her that no one was stopping at the cashier- everyone seemed to have yellow tickets- I was asked “If everyone was running into the ocean, would you follow them?’.

When the computer system in the casino was down, there was no sign posted. I was told that the slots were not broken, but “the system is down- we can’t track your Player’s Card or give you a ticket payout, but you can still play.” The system was down at various intervals over three days. What good is a Player’s Club if you can’t earn points?

We booked a tour that included the Aloe Factory for our last full day in Aruba. They "cancelled" it at the last minute, forcing us to book a more expensive tour instead of telling us that free tours of the factory were offered that week.

Do not stay at the Holiday Inn in Aruba.

   Please do not ruin a great vacation by staying at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort in Aruba. We were on the all-inclusive plan. The room had mold and mildew on the ceiling and wall, plus a terrible smell.

The food did not have any taste and was poor quality. The service was horrible. The bartenders turned their back as we approached them. The pool closes at 6:00 p.m. Luckily, our charter group moved us to another resort, which was no comparison. It was a perfect resort with outstanding food, service, and accommodations. Do not let your vacation in Aruba be ruined by paying a few less dollars to stay at the Holiday Inn instead of a nicer resort.

Divi Aruba All Inclusive

They almost killed my son.

Visited: June 2008

   I just got back from the Divi All Inclusive.

When I got to my hotel room, the AC was not working. I had to make three phone calls to the front desk before it was fixed. We were here for five days, and we had a horrible experience.

My son got food poisoned at the Divi Aruba. I ended up in the emergency room and spent four of my five-day stay cooked up inside my room taking care of my sick son. He got 103 fever, and could not stop going to the bathroom.

The staff seemed more concerned about me not suing the hotel, but not concerned about my son. I will never go to the Divi Aruba All Inclusive hotel.

Wyndham Aruba Beach Resort

We recently (December '05) stayed at the Wyndham Resort (and I use that term loosely) in Arbua. In a six night stay we had to change rooms four times because they were both painting and laying carpet on various floors. Many other people in the hotel were also complaining and changing rooms. The beds were the worst I've ever seen in a supposed "resort". Most were so old when you sat on the side closest to the night stand, you would literally slide to the floor. One of the rooms came complete with dried blood on the bedspread. Also, all beaches in Aruba are public and since the Wyndham is at the end of the high rise hotels, they are next to a police station where every weekday there are four buses that come at 45 minute intervals and drop off 50 children at a time and you are treated to 50 screaming kids who are in the water with you. At the end of "PE" everyday everyone on the beach would applaud. It was the least relaxing vacation I've ever had in my life!!

Seabreeze Appartments

 Upon arrival directly cockroaches in the kitchen. Apartment No. 6. Many noise / clatter of the air conditioning, in 2 weeks here failed to find a solution. No air conditioning in the bedroom, so warm. Overall impression is very outdated and not clean. Mice excrement on the shelves. Terrace at app. is small (tight) and a view of blind wall. Again pests. The park is designed cozy, very small and shallow pool poodle (0.60 m deep). Location is far from the beautiful beaches, but not felt unsafe. Auto you certainly needed.
+ point is free internet. The apartment is spacious, but by doing it yourself rebuilt. We had booked for 3 weeks, but after 9 days we have left. No refund. During our stay another 3 set previously left, all very unhappy. In principle, it is not expensive, but in our case is not clean. Hope for the future improvement.

je moet geld toekrijgen wil je hier verblijven.Te smerig en vervallen voor woorden, geen warm water, over schimmel in de douche, kapotte en ontbrekende tegels. Gaten in het toch al smoezelige beddengoed.En daarnaast ontvangen in een onproffesionele aclcohol damp was voor ons en reden om na 1 nacht te vertrekken. Om het boekinks vocher is ook nooit gevraagd! Een echte afrader dus. Daarna verbleven in tanarijn echt een prachtige plek!!!

Slechtste appartementen complex waar ik ooit ben geweest op Aruba & ga er ook nooit meer naar terug. Montana & Paradera Park zijn ietsjes duurder, maar veel beter! Voorbeelden waarom; Het zwembad zat het hele weekend vol met locale kinderen, de wc bril viel van de wc af, de airco viel door het gat naar buiten in de slaapkamer, niks is compleet!

Great going Johan! It appears the hotels and resorts on Aruba take their cue from the government. They don't give a shit.
