Aruba Harmony Apartments***

Overall impression: 3 Location: 3 Service: 1 Installation: 4 Quantity space: 4 Child friendly: 1 (avg. 2.7)

Well, that we had so too! Every time we had questions or needed something, there was nobody there! The sign was the whole time CLOSED. This is very unprofessional and totally not accessible. We need this so-called nice owner therefore hardly seen ... yes .... when we had to pay! Regrettably, the best is a nice location but the negative points stabbing with head and shoulders above! It is fine to ask if you can say for the first time in Aruba and you still know nothing and they advertise that they score so friendly and helpful, well not so! For us absolutely no Aruba Harmony more!

appatamenten fun at a reasonable location. only very regrettable that the friendliness and helpfulness to EEM very low level. I take that as if you have guests that you really lobie sight to hold the opening hours. In the days that I stayed here was always the welcome sign to "CLOSED" hmmmmmm pity that we help key hard knocking on the door that we had to be helped.

Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino****

lost property's

Despite the hurricane and the bad weather we've had a fun couple of days. The hotel has a good location and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, we have at our home should note that our mobile phone and white gold oorbelletjes taken away. A complaint is made, and I certainly hope they do something with it. It is for a reason never to go.

verdwenen eigendommen

We were very disappointed in the Renaissance Marina after 2 nights and fled to the Radisson. That was a bit better . Renaissance is perhaps best fun as a city hotel (many shops and restaurants in immediate vicinity) but not if you want a beach holiday. The private island is right for the airport, it was a huge noise of the planes and to smell kerosene. We also prefer to walk to the beach than ever on a boat to wait. The room was very noisy (the sound of the whole day shopping and you could not see daylight, because the indoor shopping mall where you inkeek).

“Sewage in the water - STAY AWAY”
Hyatt Regency
Aruba Resort and Casino

Nov 22, 2008
Just got back from the Hyatt in Aruba and will NEVER go back again.

The beach is disgusting. The smell in the water is so bad you can't even lay on the beach. You can't see your feet. We found out that it's raw human sewage. If you go in the water you'll want to vomit it smells so bad.

If this was in the United States they would close it down and not allow people in the water.

The bugs on the beach and in the romm were disgusting.

The pipes were backed up and made noises all night long.

The banging and the work being done woke us up.

I cannot for the life of me think of why anyone would go back to the Hyatt. On the other side of the island the water is still clean but there are no nice hotels there.

When I thnk of people going in the water and stepping in human waste and getting in their eyes, ears, nose and mouth it's just too much.

We paid over $600.00 a night for our room and it was small with dirty carpets and bed sheets that smelled like dirty diapers. There is a sign by the bed saying that they do not change the sheets every day. Only when they are dirty.

When we asked to speak with a manager Susan Santiago about all these things no one even called us.

STAY AWAY! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL

“Crummy stay at Hyatt Aruba!!!”
Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort and Casino

Nov 9, 2008
What we thought was going to be a memorable honeymoon turned out to be a very disapointing vacation. After all the stress of planning a wedding we just wanted to relax and unwind. We arrived to the sound of jack hammer in the lobby as the circular drive was being re-paved. After we stressed to the front desk that we were honeymooners and requested a quiet room, we were put in a room with construction right above us. After we switched to our third room we could finally relax. The front desk never advised security of our room switch. We came back from the computer center one morning to find security in our room questioning us. It was humiliating. We had to make several trips to the front desk to straighten out several problems as the staff never picks up the phone. The food is just ok, nothing special. The beach staff was very helpful and friendly, but management and other hotel staff are rude and careless. The water was murky and smelled. This may have been due to the passing tropical storm, but from reading other reviews, this seems to be an ongoing problem in Aruba. At one point we walked up and down the hotel strip trying to find a better hotel. Unfortunately, it appears that the Hyatt is the best Aruba has to offer. When we checked out, I reviewed the bill and noticed that we were overcharged and not given the correct rate. The front desk advised me that the rate I was speaking of did not exist. Management eventually adjusted the rate. Later I wrote a letter to the hotel manager advising of our terrible stay. I received no repsonse to date. I have been to many islands and have to say that I am not impressed with Aruba. We will be re-doing our honeymoon next year and will definately not be staying at a Hyatt!

“swimming with sewage/ good hotel”
Hyatt Regency
Aruba Resort and Casino

Oct 28, 2008
First let me tell you i have been coming to Aruba for past 10 years, last 2 X the beaches have taken a turn for the worse.i should not say beach but the water itself. i come to aruba to enjoy the the sun and ocean and the great hospitality of the people in aruba, most delicious food you can find on any island. Its the water itself that has me going to seek out another island. the last time we were their same problem stinky water ,murky and slimy on bottom. i did ask a local and he did verify its sewage, if its true or not i was still horrified. i spoke to some people and they said eagle beach is not as bad as palm.
hotel- the renovations are beautiful . Nice comfy beds. good food and great service. Based on water conditions i will not be returning, just for the fact that i was told its sewage.

“Caution! Caution! Caution! Caution! Caution!”
Riu Palace
Aruba

Nov 24, 2008
PLEASE BEWARE!!!

Friends and I booked the Riu after staying at many other Riu properties. We were very excited that it had opened in ARUBA and couldn't wait to go away. I have 4 buddies that I go away with every year in early October for vacation. This was their first time to Aruba and we couldn't wait to get there. Our check in was relatively smooth.

I will say I was disappointed in the hotel. Compared to other Riu Hotels I have stayed at this one was sub par. The craftmanship of the hotel was very pool. tilework, grounds etc. We did the all inclusive for a few nights for dinner and enjoyed the restaurants and the beach. Weather was not great but nothing you can blame the hotel for.

Ok now on the the part that ruined our vacation and changed my opinion of Aruba forever. The hotel is NOT safe. My buddies and I stayed on the 3rd floor. We had tandom suites with a shared hallway door and 2 seperate rooms across from each other. Our first night arriving in ARUBA we went to dinner and to the casino in the hotel.

My buddies and I won pretty big at the casino. We went back to our room that evening around 2 put all our winnings in the safe and went to bed and slept until the next morning. We got up and headed to the beach. around 10:30 the next day. We took out some moneyf or the day and put our passports, our wallets, jewerly etc in the room safe. We set the code and like so many times before thought our belongings were safe. We than went to beach enjoyed the day and came back, around 7 pm showered and got ready to head to dinner. We took some money out of the safe for tips relocked our safes, checked the locks and headed to dinner. We than got home arouind 11 o'clock and went to bed. The next morning we woke up and got ready to head to the beach. We opened the safe to get money and were just shocked. ALL OF OUR MONEY was gone!! We closed the safe opened it again in total disbelief. IT WAS ALL GONE!! Everything our money, wallets, credit cards everything. The only thing left was our passports. Between spending money and casino winnings it was close to $5K.

We immediately called the hotel security and asked to speak to the hotel manager. The Hotel manager Richard (I believe was his name) was so biligerant and insulting. He acted like we were lying and kept asking what do you want us to do? I was like what? The Safe is suppose to be safe!! We kept saying only the hotel has access to the safe, so how could this happen. This means someone from the hotel had to have entered our room. We immediately asked that they provide us with a log of who entered our room after 9 pm (time we were at dinner). He pulled the records and sure enough someone from the hotel staff entered our room at 9:40 pm.

We quickly realized that the hotel was not going to be helpful and asked that they call the police. The police came and did the standard police report, took fingerpritns etc. Long and short the hotel did nothing and neither did the police. We never felt so violated, unsafe and angry in our lives. I just wanted to pack our stuff up and go home. We tried to make the best of the remaining time we had in Aruba with the hope when we got back to the states we would resolve this matter with RIU corporate. To my dismay they were just as unhelpful and rude as well. I contacted them immediately when I got home. I am just shocked!!

All I can say is go at your own risk. As the week went on we met many people at the pool who were also robbed during the week 7 in fact and 3 on our same floor. We rounded up the rest of the people we met and stormed the lobby and asked that they try to deny it since they made us all feel like we were lying. This did nothing either. I would suggest going or staying somewhere else. When traveling to other islands I have visited I was very cautions because of their reputations but going to ARUBA I had this false send of safety ike I was back home in the states. ARUBA you always hear how safe it is and think nothing can happen. I have been to Jamaica at least 4 times in my life and truly I felt safer in Montego Bay than I did in Aruba. If you go carry very little cash and defintely carry all your valuables with you. Definitely do travelers checks

Oh and the hotel has no hotel safe in the lobby like most other decent hotels. So I am not sure where you would keep your valuables. I asked after we were robbed.

PlLEASE BEWARE of this hotel. I will not only never go back to Aruba, but I will NEVER go back to a Riu hotel ever again eitherr. They took no responsibilty for their hotels security and were not accomodating at all. Not even and apology!!

I hope someone will learn something from our experience and if nothing else I hope you go to ARUBA knowing its not a Safe island. If anyone has any questions or wants more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

“Bad Experience at the RIU in Aruba”
Riu Palace
Aruba

Nov 24, 2008
I recently stayed at the RIU in Aruba and got very sick due to a bad odor and smell in the room .I noticed alot of mold in the bath room and all around the air condition vents. The ceilings have cracks in them. You can see water stains on the walls. When I told the manager RICHARD VELASCO he told me I caught something on the plane. Then he said the flu was going around. We had a party of 20 that went to RIU and half the party got sick and other half didn't use the air because of the smell of mildew. I spoke to some people that have time share and they said they have similiar problems and nothing is being done. I showed them mold in the dining room and next day it was gone. They fixed it real fast they PAINTED OVER IT. IF YOU CHECK IN just look around for newly bathrooms.I told the manager the RIU should pay my hospital bill which was around $400.00 with presciptions. His answer was NO, he didn't even think about it
Also, he was a very RUDE person. I would not let him manage anything. If you look outside dining area you will see missing fans due to leaks in ceiling . They have wire hanging from where the fans were. O YEA they painted over the MOLD again. I am still sick and costing more money . Thanks to insurance they are paying some of the bill. WHEN it rains beware the floors are very slippery. One of the people in our party slipped and fell . The woman got hurt and cut 2 of fingers from the broken glass.ALSO I sent the RIU a message to their customer service well that was a big joke they still have not responded. Or maybe they are to busy to reply to their past guests.Well to sum it all up for now I would never stay at the RIU again. OUR PARTY WILL BE STAYING AT MARRIOT NEXT YEAR. Maybe now I will hear from them but I doubt it very much. Again Richard Velasco was very unprofessional. I WILL TALK TO YOU AGAIN SOON.

“Our room was ransacked”
Riu Palace
Aruba

Nov 18, 2008
My husband and I just got back from a trip to Aruba. We were initially booked at Riu Palace. We arrived, checked in and hung out at the pool for the afternoon. We had locked up our room, safe and suitcases in the closet. We went to dinner for about 3 hours and came back to find that our room had been ransacked. The suitcases were taken out of the closet and someone had gone through them all and left them on the bed. My makeup case was overturned on the bed as if someone was looking for something. We called down to the manager to tell them that someone was in our room and he said he was looking into it. We waited a while and did not receive a call back so we called again and he said the same thing. Long story short we went down to the lobby to talk face to face and after about 30 minutes he advised that the only people that used a keycard to get into our room after we left was the housekeeping. So, we had said that the housekeeping must have been the ones who ransacked our room. He acted like that would never happen at this hotel and so the manager still did nothing and was not willing to help us get to the bottom of this. We asked that the police be called and he did nothing. My husband and I then told the manager that we would not stay in a hotel where it was not safe. So we packed up our room and went back to the lobby where we checked out and went to another hotel. Since the Riu would not call the police so we could a file a report we did so at the new hotel along with the help of the head of the security at the new place where we were staying. I would strongly suggest not staying here if you are looking for a secure place while vacationing in Aruba.

“Danger at this hotel”
Riu Palace
Aruba

Nov 6, 2008
This review will not address food, pools, beaches, etc.

It is a real warning to anyone interested in staying at this hotel.

I checked in on Oct. 9 2008. I locked my in room safe with a PIN I created. I then secured all doors in my room and hung the do not disturb sign on the door.

On Saturday, I left for dinner on the hotel property. Upon my return, I checked my room and the safe. All was fine, and the safe was locked. I went to bed.

The next morning I awoke to start my day. I went to the safe, input MY PIN number, and the safe opened. All of my cash was gone. ($2800USD).

To add insult to injury, the envelope I placed the cash in was neatly placed in the corner of the safe. I immediately called the front desk and asked for security and/or a hotel manager. 10 minutes later, when nobody arrived, I called back and asked again. I was transferred to the Hotel Director, Richard, who rudely stated "what do you want us to do? Call the police or something?" In a state of disbelief I said "YES. And send security up here” he replied "you come down to the lobby and wait for the police. We are very busy with checking. When arriving in the lobby, the manager acted as if I was a bother to him. He even requested that I sit in the back of the lobby to "reduce the impact of the police arriving". Unbelievable.

The police finally arrived and conducted an investigation. They dusted for fingerprints and questioned some staff. The hotel was forced to pull the room key-card records. Indeed, a staff member had entered the room, with a Do Not Disturb sign on the door, at 9:38PM. (Exactly when they knew we were at dinner on the property. Once the police completed this process, I was told I could get a police report at a later date.

Finally, I was told by the manager that he could do NOTHING to even address what had happened and that I would have to deal with his boss when she returned. I waited 2 days to speak with her when she told me "you will need to deal with the police". Again, they just wanted to ignore the situation and wear me down until I checked out. It was so incredible to me that they were rude after everything that happened.

In another amazing twist, several staff members at both the bars and at the bell station informed me that robberies are RAMPANT (their words, not mine) at this hotel. No, not at the beaches or pools where one might expect it. But robberies from the rooms and safes. Even when I called the police asking for my report, they responded "which room was yours, we are working on several robbery investigations at the property this week. NO KIDDING. That was the quote.

I must warn you. This is an inside job. This hotel is dangerous. We were watched, and systematically robbed by staff inside this hotel with the rare expertise available to lift a code off of an in room safe. Again, my room was entered by staff (room key records show), my code was lifted from the safe computer, I was robbed, then my code was actually re-entered into the safe. Think about that.

Hearing that robbery is a regular event at this hotel, and after being a victim of it, I must let you all know.

Aside from the place being mediocre to begin with, there is a level of danger not to be taken lightly. If you consider security a top priority at a hotel, make other arrangements. Otherwise, consider yourself warned. I sure wish I had been.
