I don't doubt that Joran and Pappy Sloot are the reason for the coverup initially, but I'm not so sure they're the only reason for the coverup.  Think about it:  Joran drugs a girl's drink, she disappears, he gets arrested.  Where did he get the drugs?  Gotta cover that.  Why was he allowed in C&C and Excelsior where he met Natalee?  Gotta protect them.  If it was an accident, what happened to her body?  If Paulus or Joran got help disappearing her, that person can't be exposed.  This will go away, let's arrest the black guys for a few days.  Gotta cover for those cops.  Some of these government officials and ALE are taking kickbacks for the drug and money launderers - happens everywhere - Gotta cover their butts.  Talk about a snowball effect!  So there is a lot more here than One Delicious Sociopath.

I think the truest words Paulus has spoken were to Dave, when he said he would do anything to protect his son?

I think the cover-up began unofficially very early on, as Paulus moved to call in markers from the ALE - then it progressed up the food chain to Janssen - then up to Rudy Croes - then up to Oduber.

Go up to Internet Options under Tools in your IE Toolbar, open up the Advanced Tab and be sure that under multimedia you have put a check in the box next to "play sounds on webpages" also.

AP is saying a number of people SHOT TO DEATH in Lancaster, PA.  The shooter is in custody.  12 people injured some have died.

ITA.  Jossy (and others) think the judges and some in Holland helped with the coverup.  I wish we knew what, if anything, ALE sent to Holland and if it actually went to NFI or just some former colleague/friend/law school buddy of Paulus.   Sad
