Police arrested 24-year-old Aurelia Gallardo on charges of child endangerment after several witnesses told police that Gallardo threw her 4-year-old daughter in front of a Suburban.

The incident took place Tuesday at a bus stop in the South Park Meadows Shopping Center.

The SUV was able to stop without hitting the girl. Gallardo then dragged the girl out of the road by her hair, according to witnesses.

Witnesses said that before Gallardo threw the child, she yelled obscenities at the girl and held her up in the air by her arm.

Gallardo faces felony child endangerment charges. She is being held in the Travis County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

"You're either on crack or something,” bus rider Suzanne Haberstumpf said. “You don't throw your child out in the street."

Witnesses said that before Gallardo threw the child, she yelled obscenities at the girl and held her up in the air by her arm. They said that, afterwards, Gallardo pulled the girl out of the street by her hair and threw her into the side of a parked car.

Witnesses frantically dialed 911 and police quickly responded.

"When they arrived, the woman and children had already left,” Sgt. Brian Loyd said. “They were on a Capital Metro bus."
Police stopped the bus at the intersection of South Congress and interviewed witnesses on the bus, including the bus driver, who, according to the affidavit, said the woman was yelling four letter words at the child.

The woman even told the little girl that Child Protective Services would take her away, which they did, along with Gallardo’s other two children.

Gallardo faces felony child endangerment charges. She is being held in the Travis County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
