AUSTIN (KXAN) - When it comes to applying for college, it is not just grades and test scores that high school students have to think about. 10 percent of universities are reviewing students' social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace before admitting students.

Texas State University said it is something it considered, while the University of Texas said it does not. Wednesday, a UT football student was kicked off the team for posting a racist comment. That is raising questions about just how private your space is.  "I don't think they should [look at them], because it is impeding their privacy," said Jose Papa, a UT freshman.
Some students said if they knew a school would look, they would change their posts. Other students said if you post information about yourself online, you better be prepared to have the whole world read it. "A lot of them don't realize it that's why they need to be informed," said Britnie Franklin. Students are not the only ones who should be aware. 22 percent of employers said they use social networking sites when evaluating job candidates and another 9 percent intend to soon.
