A $5,000 retainer would be ridiculous for a case of this magnitude, even without the murder charges!  A friend of mine paid 5 thou retainer for a lawyer for her daughter on a misdemeanor charge, in Tampa.  JB has to be counting on some huge payments elsewhere later on - book rights or something.

If a client is found guilty, they can't make a profit on the crime.  Can the lawyer?  Her parents?  Her brother?   IMO - NO one should profit from this!

Casey Anthony prosecutors: Gag order needed to limit publicity

Prosecutors are asking a judge to order those involved in the Casey Anthony case -- attorneys, witnesses, law-enforcement officers and Anthony's family -- to restrict their public comments.

The intent is to protect potential jurors from being influenced by pretrial publicity, Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton wrote in the motion filed Thursday.

The case has received intense media coverage since Anthony's daughter Caylee Marie was reported missing July 15.

During the past four months, leaks have surfaced dealing with evidence of a decomposing body in Anthony's car and traces of chloroform found in the trunk -- news supporting the state's case against Anthony.

Prosecutors filed their motion the day after a defense report surfaced, outlining why Anthony should not get the death penalty if convicted. The state has not decided whether it will seek death.

In the motion, Ashton cited Orlando Sentinel stories and a news release from Anthony's defense team. He writes that Anthony's family has used the "pulpit" of their search for Caylee to comment about evidence and motives in prosecution. The family contends Caylee is alive.

"In twenty-eight years of criminal prosecution . . . the undersigned has never witnessed such a shameless attempt to sway public sentiment," Ashton wrote.

The motion for a gag order came among a flurry of filings. Anthony's attorney Jos� Baez filed several requests with the court, including papers asking the judge to compel investigators to turn over tips about Caylee's whereabouts. He also wants crime-scene photos and investigative reports, as well as more information from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which conducted forensic tests on hair and air samples taken from Anthony's car. Orange Circuit Judge Stan Strickland scheduled a hearing to discuss the matters for 1:30 p.m. Monday.

NEJAME: Well, in the past, there was a misunderstanding. Cindy -- when Tim first came -- I think Tim can better speak to it. There was an understanding that he was coming here to search for a Caylee who was still with us. Tim ended up primarily doing a search, a ground search for a Caylee who`s no longer with us. And there was miscommunication, misunderstanding. Cindy fully supports and appreciates the people that are going out and assisting any positive way they can, whether they believe Caylee is with us or Caylee`s not with us.

And so that`s what we`ve been assisting them, is to communicate. Now there`s a full and complete understanding, and there were tears and there were hugs and there was an understanding. And I think that -- in fact, I know George and Cindy fully support everybody`s assistance, especially Tim`s, so that we can get some answers. And what`s being set up is a ground search and a live search. So we`ve got all answers for all people.

I don't know if he said.  I do know that his chat was infiltrated with Anthony sympathisers and it's possible someone told George not to interview with Murt.

Where is Lee?  I am getting worried about that boy?

I am not surprised if they drop the DP angle. They want a conviction.  No need to risk the outcome or the ability to make a deal with Casey for the body.  I hope her lawyer wises up soon...I am sure there will be more evidence that comes out that would seal the deal for Casey...Baez should not inspire confidence for the Anthonys.  George knows this...he has known this and he and Cindy should be talking to Casey telling her this.  They are her parents and I do not care how old she is or what has happened...they need to get with the interested parties and work out a deal here. 

No matter how anyone wants to look at it...there is evidence of HUMAN decomposition in the trunk of Casey's car.  I would bet what we have read from George's statement about the smell and worrying about it being Caylee was part of his testimony at the Grand Jury. 

Put just those pieces together and any normal, reasonably intelligent person can conclude that Casey had the dead body of her daughter in the trunk of her car.  It's not that much of a leap at all. If the prosecutor can't convince a jury Casey had a dead body in the trunk of her car they need to change personnel. MOO

Wow. Are you saying Murt actually wanted to interview George in the chat room?    If that's so, that probably wouldn't have been a good idea in the first place.  I thought he was going to be alone with him, maybe with just an audio recorder or something.. and post it later.

If TES does not find Caylee with Nejames helping you will see the Anthonys keep up the "Caylee is alive" story.  I am glad they are assisting TES, but finding Caylee is even more paramount now that the defense, in essence, is working with them. 

It won't keep the evidence from speaking but you will hear they didn't find Caylee so she must be alive mantra from Cindy again.  I doubt George can continue this charade much longer. I am thinking Lee gave it up a long time ago.

Thousands of volunteers plan to search for missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony 


ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Texas Equusearch is gearing up for the biggest search in their history this weekend as they look to find missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony – dead or alive.

"This is the largest search we have ever conducted, it is very exciting," Gary Peterson said who is second in command of the Equusearch Group of Texas. He says they are ready to find information that has lead to the disappearance of the missing toddler.

"Everything is going extremely well," Equusearch President Tim Miller said.  With 250 Team Leaders in place and more than 3,000 volunteers from 30 different states, Equusearch officials are confident they will have made major accomplishments.

Among the volunteers is California Bounty Hunter, Leonard Padilla.  "I believe we will find Caylee by Monday," Padilla said. He arrived at the Orlando International Airport Thursday evening.

He too will receive special training for this search. 

On Friday, Peterson says Equusearch officials will be meeting all day with team leaders and officials from the Orange County Sheriff's Office to get a game plan in place and map out the exact locations of the 130 areas they want to target.

"We get very involved in these cases, and this one is dear to my heart, for all of us and we want closure for everyone involved," Peterson said.
