Wyks... that car key situation is really strange. I'm going to suppose the key was to Amy's new car, not the car that she totalled. If that is the case, why would Lee get rid of the key, wouldn't she want a spare key. And with all the things happening that night, Lee is thinking about a key that he doesn't recognize?

It is strange, yes!  Lee did say in his interview that the key was to the car that Casey borrowed when Amy went to PR, so yeah that would be her new car.  And I'm with you, if I had a niece gone missing, the last thing I'd be thinking of is a key I didn't recognize.  Even weirder is why he just didn't give the key back to Amy, he 'took care of it'.  Why that particular choice of words?  All of it just makes me wonder what the heck was so important about that key!   

Could the key have been to a po box, apartment, green truck, etc.?

I wondered that too, mammy.  But Lee says in his interview, "LA: It was a key that I had never seen before. I know all of our family’s car keys. So it just was easy for me to figure out that had to be Amy’s, Amy’s car key."

Members of the Anthony family are expected at a vigil tonight in Orlando. George and Cindy Anthony have been holding vigils because their granddaughter, Caylee Marie, is missing.

Authorities say the little girl, who would have turned 3 in August, is dead and they have charged her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, with first-degree murder. George and Cindy Anthony think the little girl is alive.

Tonight's vigil is part of the National Vigil for Hope, according to a statement from Michelle A. Bart, a spokeswoman for the Anthonys.

The local vigil will be at 8 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church, 1900 Conway Gardens Road. Earlier today, Bart issued a news release about the event.

Just thinking back on some of the other things that have happened in this case that I still have questions on...

Do we know yet where Amy's totalled car is?  It had been stored (with a cover on it) at Tony's apts, (during the time Casey was staying there), and Casey seemed to want to keep it there.  Wonder if she ever put Caylee in it while it was parked/stored at the apts?  Wonder if Caylee's remains were placed inside at any point?  Wonder if the key that Lee got was to this car and what, if anything, he might know or have done? 

Have we learned anything else about that guy who gave an interview outside the jail after being released?  Curious to know if that was just another someone wanting 15 minutes of fame, or does he know something? 

You know I don't remember reading about Amy's totaled car or about Lee having a key to which car? Where did you find this info?? 

There's soooooo much stuff to read thru, it's hard to keep up with it all!

In Lee's interview with LE, he talks about the key.  I don't have a link, but the following is on page 27 in a doc released on Sept. 23:

EE: That you recognize as the key that was probably to the car your sister was using while they ….

LA: It was a key that I had never seen before. I know all of our family’s car keys. So it just was easy for me to figure out that had to be Amy’s, Amy’s car key.

I'm a little behind Monkeys, but this last sentece from Lee doesn't make sense. "she reached out to me" Reached out? Why not say "she called me and asked for her key" And why the h*ll did he destroy her key? Why not give her the key back?

His choice of words is weird, true!  I have three young adult sons near the same age as Lee, and none of them talk like that.  They'd say it as you pointed out.  And I have the same questions as you, seems an easy enough thing to just give it back to Amy.  Weird weird, the whole family is weird!

Weird isn't the word for them. I don't think there is a word in the dictionary that would describe the Anthonys.

He seems to be better today, I think the new medicine has helped. He even tried to chase a cat today. So he is getting back to his evil ways.

About the key, I think he was trying to say he was doing a favor for Amy, looking out for her and destroying the key, when in reality, he was looking out for Casey because LE and the prosecution now cannot use the key as evidence in the trial, that she made a key to Amy's car, whether to hide Caylee there, or to steal money or checkbooks, or whatever she was up to.

A few years ago, I went with a frend to a 12 Step group here called Adult Children of Alcoholics. He needed to go, but was afraid. So I went as support for a few. I did read their stuff and I did listen to the group discussions. The Ant Family is reminding me of this. From what I remember, these ppl's childhoods were of extreme dysfunction. When they were little, they could see that something wasn't right, all the lying and secret keeping. Being told by your parents that what you saw wasn't this, it was that ( the cover up stuff to do with the addiction within the family ). The denial, the trying to present a normal face to the world. The isolation of the family also. Can't have close relationships where others are around alot. Just a thought.

This just made me think about something. I know CA and GA are fierce anti smokers, do they drink? I think someone said they are anti drinking too. If so, could G&C have grown up in an alcoholic family and that is where the dysfunction comes from? Is that why they have no relations close? Just a thought. Not an excuse for them. I come from dysfunction and I like ciggies and beer.
