I   truly believe she was planning on leaving town, which is the reason for getting in touch with the Marine guy,,,,,but she was hung up on Tony too and while trying to make up her mind whether to leave or stay with Tony she waited too long and things came down before she was ready for it  IMO

I can't imagine her "employer" paying for an attorney.  I can see them telling her an attorney's name in case she needed it, as well as the other girls.  To have a "lawyer allowance", that would be in case they were arrested for prostitution, not murder.  The cost would be much much more.
