Janet, I agree with your posts on pedophiles. It has been said over and over that they are not treatable.

CBB,

I'm a firm believer in " You do the crime, you do the time"

I've always believed in tough love. I was a Scoutmaster for 11 years, and my wife had the Church's female youth group for many years. One thing I found out was that I couldn't be too tough on the boys. They wants firmness a strength in adult leadership. As long as it was fairly applied to all. When I retired from scouting we had 8 boys that made it to Eagle Scout. That will always be something I will cherish. Yes, most of those boys are now in their mid 30's and they still call me "Mr". Wilson.

Casey Anthony never had any "tough love" she was a spoiled brat and left to her own devises her whole life. Now she will pay dearly for the bad choices she has made. Who knows though, she might excel at prison life. I've seen it happen with a nephew that became a firefighter in Ca. while in prison. He turned his life around.

It never occured to me that maybe some of the groups of firefighters I have seen and cheered on in Ca might be in prison. Very interesting thought and I am so glad your nephew turned his life around.

Seems to me Cindy still is not practicing tough love with her daughter. "Hi sweetheart" (what she said in one of the jailhouse visits). "Pizza" etc.
Cindy and Anita have a lot in common.

Shell,

More than half of the state's 3,800 full-time wildland firefighters are prison inmates earning $1 an hour
as they work off sentences for nonviolent crimes such as theft and drug possession. About 2,150 offenders — either minimum security wards of the California Youth Authority or adults sentenced to the California Department of Corrections — have been out battling the flames.

"We wouldn't be half the fire department we are now without them," said Karen Terrill, forestry department spokeswoman. "I could tell you stories that would bring tears to your eyes."

The convicts usually are out of sight — as they were Sunday, laying more than a mile of hose, cutting fire lines and grubbing stubborn pockets of flame with shovels, rakes, pickaxes and hoes.

On the day the fire in San Bernadino County flared into a wind-whipped monster, however, residents there caught a rare glimpse of the prisoners in the unusual role of trying to protect houses.

The inmate crews are neither trained nor equipped for fighting house fires. But a 28-inmate strike team happened to be one of the first to arrive. They grabbed garden hoses and borrowed chain saws from homeowners. Burglars and thieves risked their lives to rescue prized possessions from doomed homes.

luckycharmsprincess..... Thank-you for that, very interesting, when you look at some of Casey's friends, they seem like they would be able to manipulate easily. I would imagine she would not befriend anyone who was not. I keep going back to the Sawgrass Apts, I had never thought or probably did not want to think that Caylee was being used for child pornography, but after listening to Wendy Murphy, I just stood back and went, please don't let it be that. My husband after telling him of the compromising pics of Casey months ago, looked at me and pretty much said, I wonder if Caylee was being abused. I am one who is not sold on the choloraform angle of keeping Caylee quiet, for me that doesn't make a lot of sense since it doesn't knock you out for long. I certainly hope this is not the case, that Caylee had to go through this, but I will not be surprised if it turns out to be. I've mentioned before that I worried about Caylee being abused, because who knows some of the people Casey left her with, but pics or movies of Caylee didn't enter my mind until I heard Wendy Murphy discuss this.

Does anyone remember the post, several months ago on another site, by a female author making these same claims? She stated she was doing research for a book about the case. At that time it was rumored that LE could tell by the stains in the trunk how the body was positioned. Part of her claim was that one of the stains contained sperm.
Stain on the carpet in the car?

Considering the vast majority of men are not sexually attracted to children ... I believe that the problem with child sex abusers is in the way their brains are wired.  In other words ... there is no cure and ... those who refuse to not to act on their selfish impluses will continue to prey on our precious children.  Society does does not allow a dog to roam free once he has attacked a child ... rehabilitation is not an option.  Why does society afford known sexual predators the freedom to again "choose" to prey on the innocence.

There are so many areas in all our lives where we choose not to act on our desires.  Why?  It is morally and/or legally wrong.

My long time neigbour found $3000.00 cash in a pocketbook in a bank parking lot.  There was no ID.  He concedes that he was tempted to pocket that money and ... take his wife on a vacation.

He knew he had two choices ... one was right and ... one was wrong.  He made the right choice and turn the pocketbook with all the cash into the bank where ... the frantic owner arrived two hours later.

Janet

There are SEVERAL types and many ARE attracted to a very specific age range child, usually boys.
The fixated offender has a primary sexual orientation towards children, especially male children; these sex offenders have commonly been called pedophiles. The typical pedophile is attracted to children both physically and emotionally. These offenders get a sense of power, control and omnipotence in their relationships with children

Have you ever heard Jake Goldenflame, he is a pure pedophile and has written a book about his sick acts, it's really scary-but it gives you a perspective from "the pedophiles" point of view..........not that I really want to know, but better than sticking your head in the sand.

islandmonkey

Each male or female who is sexually attracted to a child has a choice ... to act on his/her selfish desires or ... not to act.

Your precious son was the victim of someone who made a choice to satisfy his own selfish desires rather than consider the effect his actions would have for a lifetime on an innocent child.

You may have removed your son from the clutches of this dispicable predator but ... every desirable child this unconscionable excuse for a human being comes in contact with is at risk.

Janet

Janet, I hope you haven't misunderstood me, I detest these scumbags and am in no way defending them, I was simply pointing out that there are some that prefer children to adults. In my opinion they ALL deserve a bullet in the head one the first offense. I did everything I could to see that justice was served, but prosecutors are incredibly challenged because only a handful of states allow a child to testify thru an excited utterance or a declaration, instead the child has to be put on the stand and have the monster's defense attorney cross examine them and in the state we lived in at the time, well they wouldn't do that......no way would they put a fragile, broken, scared, 3yr old baby on the stand. So, I feel horrific that se is still out there, I keep up with where he lives and warn LE and anyone I know in that area. Frankly a bullet in the head is preferable, but my son needs me out of prison in order to continue to heal!!!!!!!!!!!

For whatever it's worth, The shrink I used to work with believes that most pedophiles are attracted to children because of a personality disorder. Personality disorders are commonly believed to be incurable without literally re-parenting, a phenomena That is almost impossible with adults.

She felt that these pedophiles "get stuck" at a developmental emotional age and therefore are attracted to similarly emotional staged people. Those people are typically children. Because on some level most pedophiles realize their attractions are wrong, they opt for younger emotional candidates that are easier to manipulate.

She didn't feel there was much hope of altering their attractions, particularly if they had ever acted on it. She firmly believed in chemical castration, to lessen any sex drive.

That sounds very reasonable!
