Well    all the gifts are wrapped ....Roast in the oven.......almost finished cleaning everything up.......took Christmas pictures of my Daughter..............called everybody to make sure when they will arrive tomorrow...........so I have a minute to sit down...and now everybody here is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm back too.  Lost power fofr a bit.Having a thunderstorm. You know I'll be here tommorrow afternoon too.My Mom and Dad always cook a bunch of food.So we will have leftovers and the "key board" is all mine after I get home. 

Like she said, I'm still here FWIW.    I'm having a very difficult pregnancy and I'm only in wk 15.  I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum and it stinks, makes it difficult to find the joy in anything really.  I sent my husband and son to my inlaws 2 hr's away so they could enjoy it since we didn't do a thing here at the house so I'll be alone through tomorrow evening when they get back.  I feel bad that I didn't even get Santa pics for my 19mo but I just couldn't manage it.  I've sworn to do it huge next year to make up for it though.  Think Griswolds.

I hope everyone else has a really good time though!

Oh, Mon Quixote,

So sorry to hear you are down. For what it's worth, I have always been Santa in our family, and after 28 years, I decided this year, everyone will get 3 presents. Period. LOL. No more crazy Christmases with presents all over the living room that do not fit under the tree. It's been quite different and very unstressful. We didn't even put up the tree until tonight! I just cannot get into the ho ho ho spirit this year, dunno why. Anyway, there will be other Christmases and other celebrations to celebrate when you feel up to it!

I am behind. I just got back from a trip out to get dinner at Arby's down the street, but it was closed. (It's Christmas eve already!) So was the Wendy's, the Burger King, the 2 McDonald's we passed and ALL the grocery stores, etc. LOL

We found a little Italian joint we order pizza from every once in a while OPEN! So we are pigging out on pizza. And it is the BEST pizza! Tomorrow we will be hosting a small gathering for Christmas dinner.

A toned-down Christmas for me, but it is just fine.

Now I will try to catch up here.

I haven't been a member of this board very long, but I sure am glad I found this board and all the monkey friends on it!

I would like to speak to any of the monkeys that might feel a little lost or broken during the holidays.
 
I struggle during the holidays because of holidays past, both good and bad.  I finally realized, after being sober and cleaning up my life over the last couple of years, that I needed to recreate what the holidays mean to me.  It's a work in progress but for me I needed to stay away from all the commercialism and keep things simple.

And as a recovering alcoholic, I am very careful to limit the situations that I am in during the holidays.  (After all, I think there is dysfunction in most of our families.)  I always need to feel that it is ok to say "that's enough" and go spend some time alone or go to my meetings.

If you are a monkey or guest monkey struggling with this time of the year, I understand.  Please take care of yourself, especially if you are struggling with depression and or addiction.

If for any reason, the season turns you off because you don't believe in a higher power, ask yourself who made the glorious sky, the gentle rains, or the sun above.  Don't put a name on it, but whatever it is, find comfort in it through nature.

During this holiday season you are not alone.

To lighten this all up my friends, I have one more thing . .. something that has been mentioned here and there for the last few pages and always makes me smile . . .

Yea....I was shown a picture of the boy when he was 3 and Im trying to see any thing that would look like that picture....I saw a picture of the Mother and of course i see the Father every month so Im really trying to see things that I can link to the both of them.....I really truly hope that i can find something,,,,,I also hope its true that he is still alive...

You might try googling his mothers name and see if anything comes up.
I will pray that he is found. I can imagine that must be h$ll to not know where your child is.Please keep us posted with what you find.
