Children are a gift from GOD

« Reply #480 on: December 24, 2008, 11:41:26 PM »

I just got done playing Santa for my two kids, daughter 1 and son 12. I put a toy box together, laid out all the gifts, ate the Santa snacks, and laid out the proof that Santa is real (a white glove, a dropped Santa drivers license at the door, etc), filled the stockings.. woooo, now I'm tired!
As much as I hate, yes, HATE the Anthonys, I really can't help but feel for them today. They have done nothing to help with the Caylee/Casey investigation, have mislead everyone, and out and out lied, but I still have sympathy for them on this night. Tomorrow would have been Caylee's first REAL Christmas. A Christmas she could have enjoyed by unwrapping her own gifts and have gotten all excited because she would have understood the whole "Santa" thing. It's a day that she will never see again.. and also it's something the Anthonys will never be able to share with her. Regardless of the way they have acted, I do believe that they loved Caylee and tonight and tomorrow have to be very hard for them. I can't imagine.
I also agree that Casey does not deserve the gifts from the jail of a pocket calendar, socks, cookies, and a candy cane. Caylee will never have another cookie or candy cane and neither should Casey. Just another right she forfeited when she killed her beautiful daughter.

Merry Christmas my fellow Vermonter !!!

If the Anthony's had just dealt with this whole nightmare like decent people...they would have had a whole world of support to help them through the holiday..I can't imagine what it must be like inside that house tonight...

I like the Santa drivers license drop...I've never heard of that..we do a carrot (which the bunny is now enjoying..and cookies w/milk

Howdy Vermonter,
you're right, they would have been able to begin healing a long time ago if they hadn't tried so hard to protect Casey. I feel that they actually started believing their own bull, that she was alive. Belief is a powerful thing and I know many people that lie so much they begin to believe their own lies.

I got a santa "proof" kit online. My son is 12 and still believes and I thought this was a cute idea to keep him believing just a little bit longer. It came with the license, a thank you card for the snacks, Santa eyeglasses, and a white glove. Along with instructions on where to place them.. oh, and a 1st place ribbon for the best Xmas tree

Merry Christmas!  Here is my first photo/image attempt at Scared Monkeys:  (fingers crossed it isn't HUGE)

WOOOOOWWWW Muffy. That is awesome. Is that your TREE? It should be at the White House or Rockefeller Center. I don't have a tree, but Joe got antler's today for his head.

muffy, your tree is beautiful. maybe i can figure out how to post my last years trees, we had 6. we had to have someone come put invisible wires to keep it upright. this year i did 3 small trees for my niece. also we are moving to a smaller house in the next month, so i will miss decourating (only cause everything was bought on for this house & won't fit in our temp.) this is kinda sad cause it's our last one here. wendi

p.s. are there any monkeys from up north that can tell me how to cook lobster tail-i don't boil lobsters-did it once-can't stand it-but i have had it baked & want to fix it for my hubby for new years eve-wanted to have a great last meal before we move-also any EASY seafood recipes to go with it-like crab cakes or calamari ??? or should i just order that  clam dig from maine???? if anyone can let me know, it would be wonderful-he loves seafood & i want to make it special. TIA

Okay Monkeys confession time. I go read odd ball blogs and I was looking at one that had a story about how DNA from a mosquito caught a car thief. Casey in the woods=mosquitos? Pesticide? Deep Woods Off?

I don't know it made me perk up, so you never know what those clever guys with the sheriff's department may have found.

Sorry, I am trying anything in the world not to wrap Christmas gifts tonight. I will go back to lurking now.

LOL! Me, too! I just don't feel like doing it. I should at least wrap hubby's while he's out of the house.

I had mine wrapped a couple weeks ago.  My trick was to sit on the floor while watching Nancy Grace.  Made the hour go by alot quicker, LOL
hey   thats my trick................I finished up just last night while watching NG........

OK I'll admit it, I HATE wrapping!! Here it is 10pm and I haven't wrapped a single gift.  I've got everything laid out and I'm on the monkey site, just taking a break from absolutely nothing. Not to mention I've got a damn Spinone trying to "help". So far he has stolen the slippers off my feet and danced down the hallway away from me. Then he took the bag of bows, wow, that was fun. Then he has to personally put his seal of approval on every gift I have out, aka slobber. Next year, I swear, I'm buying a roll of scented garbage bags, some curling ribbon and be done with it!!! If any monkeys want to come over and help, I still have to make monkey bread for the morning and would be willing to share!!

how bout i bring my $1.00 tree gift bags (i them back before anyone leaves-saves money) & my clear duct tape (no kidding) my niece tried to unwrap-some of her presents-small rips-i thought i was joking about the clear duct tape, but looked at it & that's what is says-anyway, i patched the places with the clear duct & believe me if KC touched it, her evidence is there. love to all

BTgirl...I came thisclose to buying a sock monkey kit for my daughter but she is only 6 and the package said 8+ ... but you can bet she's gonna get one down the road, she loves to make and color things...

I love the ones on your tree !!!

Merry Christmas to you !

Awwww...you're a good dad. Whenever you get her that kit, she's gonna love it!

sorry, had to laugh when i read that. when my daddy took me to the hospital to see my new sister. (i was 5) i wanted "a new outfit to see her in" anyway, when, me & my daddy showed up at the hospital to see my "new sister" I had on women's clothe's & a brand new pair of shoes-women's size 8. my mom was MAD. (EMBARRASSED) she yelled at my daddy & said what were you thinking, He said, SHE SAID THEY FIT PERFECT!!!! the pictures are so funny. really funny, since i am 5' 90lbs & wear a size 6 shoe. THANK GOD for my daddy. wendi

P.S. this was way back when you could look at all the babies, & i asked my daddy which one she was-he said-the prettiest-i picked the most awful looking baby & he said "yeah, that's her!!!!!" i have the best daddy! (not bio) but he is-we are too much alike

Now that I have two daughters..I'm learning how important "Daddys" are to them..it's been a struggle as I didn't come from an affectionately demonstrative family. They are in constant competition for my attention and you should see them team up to keep mommy away from me..

I want to add a big Merry Christmas for those monkeys I've missed..it takes me so long to type and read that some of you have come and gone before I get to post & read back..

From Richard Grunds' myspace blog, for Caylee:

My First Christmas In Heaven
 Author Unknown

    I see the countless Christmas
trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
 reflecting on the snow.
 The sight is so spectacular,
 please wipe away the tear,
 For I am spending Christmas
 with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
 that people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,
 the joy their voices bring,
 For it is beyond description,
 to hear the angels sing.

 I know how much you miss me;
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
 we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
you know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
 with Jesus Christ this year.

I sent you each a special gift,
 from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
 of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift
 more precious than pure gold,
 It was always most important
in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do,
For I can't count the blessing
or love He has for each of you.
 So have a Merry Christmas
 and wipe away that tear,
 Remember, I am spending Christmas
 with Jesus Christ this year.

I'm almost positive that you have to boil them first before you can cook them any other way.. I suppose you could just let them sit in a box until they died but that might ruin the taste..the other thing would be to buy them pre cooked..my mother does that with shrimp and they taste good.
Nothing beats a fresh..boiled lobster for taste tho..

Greetings my monkey friends!

I haven't been a member of this board very long, but I sure am glad I found this board and all the monkey friends on it!

I would like to speak to any of the monkeys that might feel a little lost or broken during the holidays.

I struggle during the holidays because of holidays past, both good and bad.  I finally realized, after being sober and cleaning up my life over the last couple of years, that I needed to recreate what the holidays mean to me.  It's a work in progress but for me I needed to stay away from all the commercialism and keep things simple.

And as a recovering alcoholic, I am very careful to limit the situations that I am in during the holidays.  (After all, I think there is dysfunction in most of our families.)  I always need to feel that it is ok to say "that's enough" and go spend some time alone or go to my meetings.

If you are a monkey or guest monkey struggling with this time of the year, I understand.  Please take care of yourself, especially if you are struggling with depression and or addiction.

If for any reason, the season turns you off because you don't believe in a higher power, ask yourself who made the glorious sky, the gentle rains, or the sun above.  Don't put a name on it, but whatever it is, find comfort in it through nature.

During this holiday season you are not alone.

To lighten this all up my friends, I have one more thing . .. something that has been mentioned here and there for the last few pages and always makes me smile . . .

POPCORN KITTY

I will see all of you soon, my friends!

Karen

I'm sorry your feeling down tonight...

I had Christmas with my mum yesterday, I always look forward to it as she always gives me a supply of Marmite..PG Tips tea...Smarties (which the kids eat) and Twiglets.
If I recall, you may be one of the few on here who know what these items are

Prayers for you and I hope you feel better ...
Nothing lifts your spirits like a room full of Monkeys !
