I still don't see how a video "proves" the body wasn't there. All it proves is that the body was NOT VISIBLE to the camera at that time. It could have been hidden under brush or water, or possibly the video was not looking exactly in that spot. How can they come out and say it proves anything? The body also may have "moved" since that video was taken if it was under water at the time of the videotaping. We know there was a "trail of bones", which would indicate exactly that. I still find it very suspicious they were even out there videotaping that "exact spot" as they claim. I just don't trust any of them. Unless they were told by "someone else" to video tape there, than that "someone else" placed the body there after they knew it was taped "without". I think that is the least likely theory, but the way this case that's entirely possible too!!

I feel the same way Quiet, his video doesn't prove Caylee wasn't there, but it really makes him look bad that he was taping this jungle looking area for no apparent reason and she was found there a month later. I'm not sure how this was playing out in his mind but I think it came back to bite him in the butt!

Double jeopardy is to protect the people from the government trying them multiple times for the same crime - only because the government wants to harass them. The lack of double jeopardy would result in the same problem as we have with tax hikes in this country - if the people vote them down the government just puts them up for a vote again until they are approved. BTW I agree that the constitution has been twisted - the main purpose of the document was to limit the government but now the government uses it to expand their powers.

You know Boyzmom, I always enjoy your posts, but it takes me twice as long to read them b/c I stare at your penguin dancing. He's so damn cute I can't get past him quickly, I have to watch!!!

I would love to take credit for him but I must admit I stole him from the avi thread . . . Wish I was that cute in the morning!!!

Lawyer: Caylee Anthony's grandparents need immunity

December 31, 2008

ORLANDO - The lawyer for George and Cindy Anthony wants his clients to have immunity before they speak with prosecutors again about their daughter, Casey Anthony.

Immunity would ensure the couple could tell investigators everything they know without fear of prosecution, attorney Brad Conway said. He doesn't think the Anthonys would say something that would land them in legal trouble, but he wants them protected. The Anthonys did not ask him to request immunity, Conway said. No deal has been made yet, he said.

Casey Anthony, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee Marie.

Investigators are waiting until after Caylee's funeral before they approach the Anthonys again, Conway said.

Maybe this answers why no funeral has been held.

I am having a problem with the dates LP gave too!! Could that be why he said on NG, don't be surprised if LE already has the body? But again, PI, meter reader, code message to Lee from KC...LE would not sit on that info or delay the recovery of remains. Something is missing here
Interesting angle. LE set up a sting to catch the defense in illegal activity? hah. That's funny.

I re-watched the first bond hearing a few minutes ago and finally found the testimony of Yuri very interesting where he said they got a tip from a hairdresser that said she saw Caylee with bruises all over her arms and legs and a mark under her eye...Yuri said he then found a photo of Caylee that had been posted online showing a mark under her eye which substantiated the hairdresser's claims and that in turn led him to question the A's about the kind of mother casey is, how she would discipline Caylee, how she got bruised, etc.

I believe that precious child had been abused for a long time. The question now is HOW and by WHOM in my mind. I am just hoping it is not what I have suspected for a while. The duct tape brought all those fears back, because that is so common in child pornography.

Good Morning Monks old and new!!  I am pages behind, but does anyone have a link to this bond hearing  TIA

Well down here is "Old Bamie" they don't get any shrimp  I can promise you.I never knew any jail offered such sh*t.
I've know of inmates buying extra socks to to make gloves for warmth.
Eat alot of macaroni, chicken and such.
In the summertime at Limestone Correctional they have inmates work in the fields gathering vegetables.I think they do have cable but small groups run the t.v. to get to watch sports.
Most criminals I've talked to are in for drugs and petty crimes. It is a money making racket.
I've only talked to one guy in for murder, and of course it was not what it seemed.  (you know they are all innocent) But all in all they have it better than some working class people.
I vote for the tent city and chain gangs myself.  Like I told the kids...you do the crime you do the time.

I thought jail/prison was about losing rights and privileges? I don't see how having alot of those things (tv, law books, shrimp, slim jims, candy, etc.) is losing much. Other than not being allowed out with society, it seems prisoners have pretty much everything everyone else on the outside has.  They probably even have more than alot of people on the outside, like 3 meals a day, shelter, health care, and all those things many law abiding people don't have. Doesn't seem right! I mean I know they should treated if they are sick, through em some bread etc., but instead of them having accounts to buy candy and junk they don't need, let them put money towards doctors fees, their 3 meals a day, etc. Sheeshhh

Okay..here is what's on my mind this morning. Double jeopardy. I understand that it is part of the American constitution to avoid malicious prosecution. In Canada, we do not have double jeopardy and we do not experience such an onslaught of prosecutorial misconduct. Do Americans ever feel as a whole, that this constitutional provision does not expedite but rather thwarts justice or at least at times, delays justice. Ie. OJ Simpson..or in an effort to have a PERFECT case in leiu of a sound case, prosecutors move to slowly or not at all, to avoid the perils of double jeopardy? I find this concept hard to get my head around. Could one of you kind American monkeys enlighten me as to why it is in play at all? I have googled the intent many times but I cannot seem to find anything on it's actual necessity..GOOD MORNING AGAIN!

Good Morning ... I can't get "my head around" a lot of things in the American judicial system. I have no legal background but it seems like the court system has become more of an instrument to get criminals off, than a way to keep law and order. It seems like one "exception" to the laws or interpretation of the law opens the door to loopholes that every defense attorney can use to get criminals freed... I do believe strongly in our constitution but I think it has been twisted around to protect the wrong people in many cases. I don't know how a lawyer can live with him/herself knowing that they have just caused a criminal (even with blatant evidence against) to be set free..OJ is a good example but there are many others..
I guess I just like to think that you have to take the good with the bad...but maybe I've just got my head in the sand

Sorry I can't answer your question directly about double jeopardy..like most things, it probably had a good intention when written into the constitution but has since been twisted for the wrong purpose

Double jeopardy came into being because during the English Civil War, and during the Revolutionary War, sometimes being found innocent of a crime did you no good at all. You could be held prisoner all your life, even if innocent, being tried again and again and again and again....you see? This was a way nobles and kings sometimes disposed of people they didn't like, even if public opinion and actual truth were on the side of those people.

Imagine if, immediately after being found innocent, you had to go right back to prison and await trial.

Will Lee Anthony take the stand at Casey’s trial?

Last Edited: Wednesday, 31 Dec 2008, 8:33 AM EST
Created: Wednesday, 31 Dec 2008, 8:19 AM EST

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- It could be brother against sister when the murder case against Casey Anthony begins. Lee Anthony's attorney say's the state attorney's office will likely want to put his client on the stand.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VIDEO:Will Lee Anthony take the stand?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom Luka says he believes Orange County Sheriff's Office detectives and the State Attorney's Office will likely want to question his client again and possibly charge him.

Luka also believes the state would rather use his client lee to testify instead of George and Cindy Anthony. “Speaking as an ex prosecutor having a parent testify against a child is an extraordinarly sympathetic to a jury and can draw sympathy towards a defendant as opposed to away from them. On the other hand siblings do not have that same sort of connection nor are the liable to break down as far as emotionally evoking the same kind of reaction from a jury.”

None of the Anthony's have been questioned since Caylee's remains were discovered and identified but luka believes its just a matter of time.

I believe LP and KC are birds of a feather. Out of this entire investigation i have only witnessed him telling the truth maybe 2. the first time was when he called KC a egotistical, self-centered, spoiled, little brat. Other than that i would suggest trying not to get your head in a spin over his lying..hes crazzzy
Sexy LP is old school. He doesn't lie, he might tell half truths but he doesn't lie.
Yes, there are different languages, you understand since you are bilingual. He talks LE, Casey talks bs psychobabble.

LP has been accurate in every statement but they all had to wait for Fay to leave. During that time they f**ked with each other, LE passtime fun.

i actually think they should have levels of privellege..This is coming from someone who sat in jail while innocent. Yes i agree some inmates are pampered..i say some because not all have mommy, and daddy and donations flowing in to cover their books. Most inmates have no money at all, and the money they do have goes to personal hygiene products *you are only given soap on a weekly basis if you are on a welfare package*, and medical expenses, though 3 dollars is not much, it is for someone who has no dollars. Most of this commissary crap is used to take up inmates time, to give them creative things to do, and to make up for crappy 1500 calorie a day meals..*all three add up to this*. So on some ends is sickening that this wench is sitting up and munching, but lets not punish all criminals because we dont want to see KC happy. hehe.

Hmmm. Brother against sister? Could Lee come out as the hero in all this?
Damsel, villian, hero... which role do you think he would pick?
Surely the incest would be protected if he cooperated and that would save face for the Ant clan.

I think early on when Casey was in jail that he was approached to help LE and he's cooperated behind the scenes. They knew they had to work quick before fat Baez caught on. Then maybe twisto... Baez caught on and offered him something... Lee played along.

This just keeps getting better.

I wonder if one of the reasons the A's have not been to see KC is that knowing what she has done, they can't look at her yet. Of course, this is just me thinking like a normal person so there is probably no merit to that. I could not look at my kid or I would have to strangle them or indict them myself with what came out of my mouth...

I've always thought so. Cindy will throw herself under the bus rather than incriminate Casey, but at the same time, I get the feeling that she never, ever wants to look at her face instead.

"on the 15th" they supposedly knew Caylee was dead, and they were going to go get her.

I missed that part.  Is that what LP said?  Who is the THEY?  Are you talking June 15 or July 15?

I'm catching up here, but I am guessing this was not in December...  obviously everybody knew she was dead by December 15th..  LP did not say what month, but I thought he was referring to Nov 15th, after the videotaping was done. He's referring to the PI's, and I guess they being either the family or the defense.

CASAREZ: And when was this? The date?

PADILLA: The 15th and 16th. Now, I saw the film myself. It says the 15th of November on it, but I know that things can be changed and is I know that, you know, these -- these things are for different purposes

Good Morning anothermonkey....I'm also catching up cause Trimm posted the NG transcript and I'm a slow reader..now I'm 4 pages behind again
