I wonder how long Lane will last at USC? Probably just long enough to get them in more trouble....

Someone created a thread to debate this on a football forum and they went thru his career... Lane doesn't stay anywhere long.  4 yrs was the max and the average is 2 yrs.  My guess is if he can last 2 yrs he will move on if he isn't chased out of town or sanctioned.   Monkey Devil!

I think USC hired him to ride out the NCAA sanctions that he played a role in causing. Once the light is seen at the end of that tunnel....I bet they send him packing, and hire a real coach. He's basically just a con artist running a scam.

I read quite a bit on their boards when they were searching and I don't think he was choice 1,2 or 3.  In fact I think the only reason he was chosen is the package deal he could bring with his father and Orgeron etc.  I remember thinking at the time that with all those strong personality types Lane is just a head coach in name only.  No way all that experience is being led by him.  In fact that is what I see happening - too many egos - it will break up.  Regardless, the only thing he will do on that team is be the figurehead thrown to the wolves..oops I mean press.

And yes he is a con artist.  Absolute lying POS with one big mouth to boot.

Well...I don't think it's much of a package. Ed Orgeron bombed twice in the SEC, so he's no prize either. Ole Miss wasn't sorry to see him go, and TN didn't exactly benefit from his services, so I don't know about any real coaching talent with him either. He just couldn't cut it in a tough conference. I think he's a scam too.

Daddy Kiffin is about to lose his somewhat good name by association....he should retire before his son takes him down.

Isn't it amazing how the BigXII and Pac10 still don't have TV networks?Unbelievable..Our commissioners need to pull their heads outta you know where. We have a new commissioner and that looks like it will be his first priority!

Trust me, TX has way too much power in the Big 12 and some days I'd love to see them go pound sand but this is pure bs on their part.  They are sending a message to Missouri and Colorado... TX isn't going anywhere.

I can see why you ask though because all the press makes it seem like more than it is.

Here's one to chew on...Just thought it was interesting as much as i despise USC,as well as Kiffin.I'm indifferent to Saban & Alabama.

"Here’s all you need to know about Steve Rubio, the UCF grad assistant who was a central figure in the UCF investigation: He left the Knights to go to work for Lane Kiffin at Tennessee. The other central figure, former UCF recruiting administrator Ed Marynowitz, is now the director of player personnel for Nick Saban at Alabama." Orlando Sentinal

I was watching Joe Paterno near bowl time this year. He was asked if another team would be added to the Big Ten. He thought that would happen soon. Of course someone asked if ND would be revisited. Lets just say he was not to happy with that idea and felt that they had their chance, turned it down and should never be asked again, ever! His suggestion was Pitt or Syracuse. So maybe Texas has been approached........... Just messin with you all.

I think it is a whole lot of talk and posturing.  Absolutely the Big 10 wants to add a member.  I believe it will happen and that the candidates you named will be the hottest contestants Kiwi.  The head of the Big 10 said he had not even spoken with anyone yet...  Read that Nebraska wants to talk now and that is twisting Tom Osborne's words.  He said no one has asked us but if they did we would listen.  That is Tom playing the game.  He will listen to anybody but it doesn't mean we are interested.  The press is making a mess out of this IMO.

Syracuse would be a great addition to the Big 10. They should seriously consider adding that school to their conference. Pitt would be good too, but I'd favor Syracuse.
