   NCAA justice

Lord... the NCAA is so bad.  Did you guys read about the new rule?  No more than one coach from a team can visit a recruit at a time... incidents cited include the Auburn Hummer that the coaches have been driving around - no more. Lord - don't they have anything better to rule on?

I certainly see the attraction of Mizzou and Nebraska jumping -- but, I think it is very short-sighted as it will COMPLETELY short-circuit their State of Texas recruiting. I don't see Nebraska and Missouri going to the Big 10 and getting the same recruits as they did in the past.
I just think that kids are going to go to school relatively close to home where their parents can economically watch them play every Saturday. Texas kids are NOT going to go to Nebraska or Missouri if they are NEVER going to play a single game in Texas or Oklahoma where their parents and friends can watch them . -JMO

Wreck - Don't deny your argument but you know that Tom Osborne and our Chancellor are taking all of that into consideration.  That is the original reason most didn't think it was going to happen.  Flip side is the Big 10 will allow parents and future recruits to watch every game on TV.  Not all parents can afford to drive or fly to games.  Geographically we are in that pickle regardless and there are enough TX schools that could be picked up for non conf games.  Finally, regardless of the school - if you want to recruit the big guys you have to win games - period.

If Missouri hadn't made it so clear they were jumping this probably wouldn't be a discussion.  Plus there are all kinds of implications based on if TX decided to make a switch.  The Big 12's future is vulnerable.  It wouldn't be smart to not consider all options.  The philosophy of the Big 10 relative to sports and academics is more in line with NUs'.

If someone offered you 20 million a year raise would you not consider the option?  Like I said - when this first hit I thought no way but the more I read the more I think it will happen and that it makes sense - for NU, not for the Big 12.

Hmm I was just kidding with the Big Ten rumor here. Wreck I would be honored to have Oklahoma State in the Big Ten.
Start of a new rumor, we can call it the Big Twenty!

Lots of rumors on that one.....the committee charged with that proposal had recommended not passing it, and it was supposedly dead.  The new head of the NCAA is a long time friend of Nick Saban. He resurrected it and put the rule into place as soon as he took over the NCAA.....within a few days. There are a few local reporters doing an investigation on it because it's very suspicious.
I guess it's OK for USC to pay players and their families, and use NFL coaches to coach their teams, and for it to take over 3 years just to start an investigation, but innovative recruiting done openly within NCAA guidelines at the time it was done must now be stopped immediately because other schools didn't think of it first. So now it's cheating to drive a Hummer....

Good Grief. What a petty little rule. I think the NCAA should worry about the BCS mess and the real problem of big money being funneled to college athletes, instead of what kind of car coaches drive, and how many coaches are in it.

It's stuff like this that makes the NCAA such a joke.

The problem the Big 12 has right now is that everyone is posturing.   No one wants to be left in a conference that falls apart.  If TX would have gone forward with the Big 12 Network instead of going alone and Beebe wouldn't have been asleep at the wheel he might have been in a better position.  The scary thing is that once the dominos start to fall it could affect a ton of other conferences.  For this reason you can't trust anything being said by anyone because it might just be for negotiating purposes.

Oh well.. something to talk about.  Yep, the Big 20 x 4 conferences.

It is sickening to think of all the talent the Big 12 has - just look at the draft.  Yet the conference is in shambles.  There are all kinds of things I am learning about - I had no idea that each conference had their own recruiting rules and such.  Lots of things that make you go huh?  I just remember that Osborne did NOT want to join the conference because he knew it would be driven by TX and the rest would be minions.  He was the lone NO vote on a ton of issues... I just didn't pay attention at the time to what they were.

But again, this has become about way more than the Big 12.  The big guys are circling like vultures waiting to gobble up as much as they can.

Plenty of room to do this. O.S.U.(OK) and O.S.U.(OH) a new rivalry first game of the season! It would help the Big Ten (twenty) finally have a playoff.

I'm just going to try to quit speculating -- as I think a LOT of posturing is going on behind closed doors and most of the guesses are just flat wrong. I think 1 maybe 2 big names will make a move and only THEN will the dominoes start falling. I would bet the TV networks are the ones trying to scramble for new Conference deals.

Heck, the big rumor on the SEC boards today was that Arkansas would jump to the Big XII. That would never happen unless new TV deals (being approimately equal) were being forged.

Who knows!!!!!???!!!

Was reading that today as well.  Someone did a detailed analysis of the payouts for the Big 12 and the Pac 10.  Seems both conferences are making way less than SEC and Big 10 teams.  So who knows?  A few AD's going to have to earn their salaries this year making big decisions.

A Pac 10 and Big 12 alliance would definitely improve TV coverage in AZ. I've had to buy the cable sports packages unless I want to watch ND every weekend on the local channels.

KTF "Cheers"!

I'm happy that the UW/Nebraska game is back.I think we've had some great games in the past.We both now have coaches that aren't scared to go out and play some quality opponents.Win or lose this game will be extremely beneficial for both programs,as well as conferences.I'm VERY excited about an Alliance. Can you imagine a game between USC/Texas on a regular basis?Oklahoma ST./UCLA?Whatta bout OSU VS UW Wreck. If the Dawgs beat the Cowboys,I would drive cross country just to plant the purple and Gold "W" flag in your yard.I'm sure it'd have to be a night recon mission but,i think it's possible.Wreck's eyesight is getting worse with age!All in good fun Wreck. The possibilities are endless, and i do think it may happen.

PRAYERS FOR AN ALLIANCE
