Dang! I promise to stop posting in a sec, but I forgot to add....

Kodi Burns is being used as a WR, and has emerged as a team leader. Apparently he gave an inspirational speech at practice, and is becoming the heart of team effort for our revamped Tigers. What a kid! I so admire him!

21 days until Football!!!!!!

Obviously Kodi has alot of character.  To be the starting QB, lose out and make a switch is hard on the ego.  It is awesome that he is still helping lead the team.  Makes life for the new QB easier too.  No division in the team that way.  I will cheer him on for sure.

Only a couple weeks guys.  Plenty of injuries on other teams.. OK State's QB has an injury - not sure how bad it is.  TX Tech lost their top running back for the season with a torn acl.

Are you ready for some football????!!!!!  GO BIG RED!!!!!

19 days and counting!!!!

Am I ready?  I couldn't be more ready if I was playing for AU myself! I've been doing two-a-days in anticipation...
It's all in the preparation...
The dog has been re-trained, I have comfy new furniture and a new HDTV, and I'm planning menus. The cable bill will be paid early, just in case.  I even got a new AU coffee cup from my daughters....do they know Mama or what?

PDH sounds like you are ready... only 1 question:

You drink coffee during the games?

My SIL gave me a handpainted Husker wine glass for Xmas.  Forgot about that - been saving it for season.  Guess I need to go stock up.

Wow.  Just read this and had to share.  A real Rudy kind of story... brought tears to my eyes.  I have a newfound respect for Randy Shannon.

From one of my favorites "LSU Freek" who does the best videos and cartoons on football. He is an LSU fan and here is Les Miles singing "Short People" about Saban.  You gotta love it.  Enjoy

Yes PDH, your girls sure know their Mother's delights !! I hope Kiwi has gotten us a new flat screen for the dawghouse, I hope we have our new jerseys soon too !

Bean - I love the story about Chris Hayes and pdh/cuz, Kodi does sound exceptional too. It's hard to find players that are this selfless so willingly, it warms my heart and I wish them both great success in life.

Casa has asked if everyone could please pray for Speedy, he has his surgery tomorrow. I know everyone will be happy to !

We have 3 on son's team in a two-day span with concussions which worries me a lot, all son has to date is a sprained hamstring so we won't complain about something that minor.

Speedy, I am saying prayers for you and your mom.  "Speedy" recovery and may the nurses be cute.  Not sure of your school colors so you get one of everything!  Hugs, Beans

Speedy will certainly be in all of our prayers tomorrow. Please keep us updated on his recovery, and let him know we're all pulling for him!

Well nonesy...it's good to hear Nascar is relatively healthy. I have him in my prayers too. I hope all is going well for him.

Last year AU was so fractured from the coaches on down, that there was no real team cohesiveness, and it destroyed our season. Kodi did not want that to happen this year, so he felt the need to say something before anything could even get started. The coaches and the players are all on the same page again, and we'll see a difference on the field.  I think Kodi's a kid with lots of heart.

Kiwi will graciously have the Dawghouse ready, I'm sure. But just in case...I'll remind him........

It's 20 days until FOOTBALL!!!!!

WDE!!!

beans...that video is hysterical! Thanks for the laugh!

Thanks also for the heart-warming story out of Miami. That poor kid.

OK just finished training camp practice! A little sore but ready for opening day! Don't tell anyone but all our plays are running ones, since Kiwi can't throw a football.
Also the new couches and flat screens are in!!!!! Including the new additions for Washington and Texas. Those that didn't use the Dawghouse much last year, we just dusted things off for this season.  Hmm I suppose we won't be seeing Texasmom much if they do as well this season. So how many days left? Where's that count down?

I think we're at 19 days!!!!

WDE!!!!!!!

Where is GO? We need some news on Wisconsin! And we need our Pac 10 fan to report in.

Let's see...we have SEC fans, Big 12 fans, Conf. USA fans, Big 10 fans, a Pac 10 fan...do we have an ACC fan?
Did I leave out a conference that anyone supports here?

casa emailed this last night and God bless Speedy:

His acl was "shredded" and appeared to be torn for a while.  He will not be able to play at all this year.  He says he is ok and will deal with it!  I am SO upset for him.  He has one more year of eligibility.  Thanks to everyone for the prayers.  Please tell everyone I appreciate it!  I know that God has a plan and all will work out.  It is just hard for me to not yell that this is not fair!

I'm so upset for him and I know everyone here will keep pulling for him to recover and then have a banner season next year! At least now he can take his time healing and with ACL injuries that's critically important. He sounds like such a mature young man the way he's taking this so well, I tell casa she should be very proud of him often and I know that she is.

Kiwi -Thanks for the upgrades to the dawghouse Kiwi !!! I'm glad to hear you're shaping up the running game, maybe you can pull off a few QB sneaks for a few TD's? That could be your calling card! We'll be pulling for you !

Well 17 days is the countdown for son's team but coach called off practice early yesterday because he said they were being slackers?  So I didn't call son, I figure he's not very happy and I did hear two of our RB's just haven't shown up for practice for a day either. DRAMA, huh?

oh well..........17 days to an important game, in fact just like last season, we're front-loaded with some of our toughest out of conference opponents.

the boys need to man up quick I say ............

pdh I'm so glad you feel you have reason to cheer again

we know bean is cheering always for she loves her some Bo

cuz, how about those hawgs?

None, thanks for the update.  SHREDDED?  That sounds just awful.  I have read that one surgery they are doing now involves replacing it using parts from cadaver.  Wild huh?  They say if it "takes" it really speeds recovery time.  Regardless he is better taking the time to completely heal.  I hope he can still go to Hawaii! Hugs to Speedy

WOW.  How does calling off practice for slackers send the right message? I'd say make them work twice as hard and force the effort til they get the message.  Strange.  And Coach thinks that works?  Don't think they would like that up at Notre Dame.    Tell son to hang.  He is a winner.

Only a couple weeks guys!  Yeah.  GBR!

Bean, I had the same thought that shredded sounds so very painful, but I know that so much has progressed and I know Speedy will work at his rehab as hard as he worked on the field. We just need to keep praying for him and like you, I hope he makes Hawaii.

As for the logic behind suspending that practice I can't understand it either but someone who was there (not on the team but a buddy at the university) said the seniors read some of the younger ones the riot act against the fence. Nascar did call tonight and it sounds like he's doing triple duty now at three positions. I hope his head can keep it all straight and that his body holds up. I don't think he ever imagined he might have to take this many reps.

What's the word from Bo's camp? I guess most have about one week or 5 to 6 days of full camp left?

Oh that makes sense, we have a Unity Council where the leaders on the team oversee some team discipline and it is like you said, older guys reading riot act and instilling a sense of urgency in slackers.  Peer pressure can sometimes be more effective than "management".

Words from Bo?  "We have a long ways to go.  We are not where we need to be.  We can get better. We are seeing improvement. "  HA.  It is his body language and mood that tell you how we are doing.  We call it the "BOrometer".  If he is excited then we know all is well.  He is excited and even complimenting some kids.  We are psyched.  LOL

Speedy is our hero!  Well that team was the championship team that didn't get credit last year right?     He'll come back stronger than ever in 2010
