Tonya Harding eat your heart out.!!!

Huskers report today.

Good luck to all our Monkey Players.  May you have a healthy productive season!

OK ... time to start talking about the season.  What does your team need to prove this year?  I'll kick off...

New QB said to be better than last years starter... can he perform under pressure at game speed?

Dependable receivers graduated...do the younger kids step up?

Remember this name... Ndamukong Suh... defensive beast.  Many have picked him as the #1 draft pick.  Can he repeat last year's numbers?  Can he improve more under Pelini?

Tell me about your team... good luck to all!

i would hate to be the sports announcer that had to say that name frijole!!!!...where is he from?

arkansas seems to be getting some respect in preseason picks....altho we are still behind lsu,ole miss and alabama in the west.
we have 3 players that are on their respective watch lists for awards....DJ Williams for tight end....Michael Smith for RB(Doak Walker)
and get this Ryan Mallett for QB (O'Brien)....this guy has never played a snap for ark and he is on a watch list???? hope he lives up to his billing!!!

Cuz - It isn't that hard... NA DAH MA KONG SUE (phoenetically) ha.

I too have heard lots of good things about yr team.  Phil Steele said it could be the darkhorse. ha.  He did say the problem is that you have a very tough schedule - highly ranked opponents you play at their stadium which is tough.

OK so you have a highly rated untested QB... any other unknowns?

Trying to figure out what to watch for when I watch the games.  Makes it more interesting for me.

USA Today came up with their pre-season poll....and I disagree with about half of it just like last year......

FL. is without a doubt the best team, and I also agree with the spot they gave Texas.

I think the following teams could fall out or move down pretty quickly...Va Tech, Alabama, Mississippi, Oregon, Oregon St., Notre Dame, and Penn State. I'm on the fence about Ga. Tech and Iowa. And of course So.Cal always gets in the top five whether they deserve it or not. I say not. Let them play a real team like FL. and see how that turns out. They'd go home crying for Mommy.

I think Ok.St. could be a better team than Alabama. And give me a break....Oregon St.?

It's good to see Nebraska back in the top 25.

I agree that Okie State is low.  Only 6 coaches (vs & last year) from the Big 12 that vote in that poll... so Big 12 probably not highly represented in the voting.

ND is up there because look at their schedule.  Cupcakes.  Put up or shut up time Weiss!

Iowa is up there (heard this on the radio) because most of their losses last year were by 1 to 5 pts.  Lots of close ones.  I don't watch them much so don't have an opinion - just sharing what I heard. ha.

I will take a #22 ranking to start.  You gotta win it on the field.

Well....if they use that theory, then AU should be ranked.

The only thing that should really count in pre-season rankings, since it's supposed to be on potential only, is returning personnel and their abilities. I don't understnad Bama's ranking, since they lost a lot of experience, including a pretty good senior QB1. I think they should be ranked about # 10, possibly #12, because they have a tough SEC schedule against some very well seasoned teams. Maybe that's the deal with Iowa. Maybe they have a good returning squad.
TN has a lot of talent too. Maybe everyone is uneasy about Lane Kiffen.

Cupcake schedules....that just sets up false accolades. So. Cal is famous for that strategy. Penn State may have a pretty soft schedule comparatively as well.

Give me tough, grinding it out football...the SEC, Big 12, and the ACC, with a few others thrown in like ECU, OSU, South FL, Troy, Utah, and occasionally, Wisconsin...teams  who can and will, play anybody and win a lot of games.
I hate the pretty-boy stuff...

O/T.... A friend of mine has accepted a coaching job with Duke's baseball team. I am very excited for this young man. What an opportunity to get a coaching career off the ground. Duke's program is up and coming!
Duke went to the CWS this year, and I am hoping they make it again for my friend. He'd love to go to the CWS as a coach this coming season. He played college ball at GA Tech, and he was one of their star pitchers. He also was drafted to play in the majors, but a nagging shoulder injury forced him to retire from professional baseball. He is a really nice guy, and he loves baseball. I'll have another team to root for this spring! Go Blue Devils! Never been a Duke fan before, but I am now!

Ok the important thing you all missed was Michigan had one vote. So who said my one vote wouldn't count? Even if its because Michigan was the last team to beat Florida in a bowl game!

pdh - that is super about your friend.  Remind me and I will cheer him on next season also!

None - what is the word?  Nascar still a stud?

Our first practice was yesterday.  Felt sorry for the kids.  Day started off early a.m. with "Fan Day".  It was over 100.  7500 showed up to meet players, coaches, stand in line for hours to get autographs.  Practice was after the hoopla in the afternoon.

Bo said they must have had a good conditioning season because they tolerated the heat just fine.

Right now everyone is happening - no losses!

Once again one of the teams we play is taking advantage of NU's travelling fanbase.  Kansas is not selling individual tickets to the NU game.  You have to buy a 3 pack that includes one reserved ticket to the Duke, Southern Mississippi, and Nebraska games. So now the Nebraska ticket is $150.00 but it comes with free tickets to Duke & So Miss.

So Husker fans from all the different boards have organized a campaign to donate the Duke and So Miss tickets to Veterans (we did this last year at another school).  I love it!

Bizarre rule from the NCAA

Clemson loses some practice time due to breaking the "girtle rule"... you just can't make this stuff up.

So word got out about Kiwi winning the starting QB at Michigan. Watch out were rising in the polls! Her training schedule goes like this- Wake up and play with the golden. This involves biting the golden on all four paws, ears and tail. After that Kiwi likes to jump over the golden a few times. Then Kiwi is off to eat a large bowl of ..... (blocked due endorsements) Followed by  going outside to bark at leaves, birds and clouds for a few hours. Somewhere in there is sleeping. Evening training, has running with the Frisbee, ball or football. Always being chased by the golden since its her favorite toys. Kiwi is ready for opening day. Every play will be a run play. But, as I have said earlier, Michigan's stats on passing will remain unchanged from last year.
Bean thanks for the update on Kiwi's kin.

Go Kiwi Go !!!

Hi Pdh - no word form son, I've texted with him but it's been very brief. I'm wondering if phone calls with the momma during camp are Taboo?

Kiwi - congrats on winning the starting QB position, we'll be cheering you every pawprint of the way

Bean - I dunno if he's still a stud, I guess we'll know by the end of camp? It was in excess of 100 statewide today so I expect practice was an exercise in sweat, sweat, and sweat some more? One possible significant injury today so that's discouraging, I so wish they could all stay healthy. I will admit I've peeked everyday at the webcam at the stadium hoping to catch a glimpse and sure enough I saw them today but they were the size of ants so no telling who was who
