Thank-you, now that I have stopped laughing, why would one buy chili and beef stew, do they also furnish hot plates in the cells?

Oh my,You're on one today.
I couldn't stop laughing, all I could picture is the Andy Griffith episode, when Barney was using a hotplate in the room he was renting, and he wasn't suppose to. Why in the world does a person in jail need all these items for?

Night JSM.  I think we are all just doing the same thing here.  Just trying to figure out stuff that makes no sense.  I think we are all trying to be advocates for the victims and all feel the same frustrations that this happens over and over again in this world and we are helpless, in the most part, to stop it.
Thanks AKmom. I just sometimes don't know what to do for victims. I had a friend who was pregnant at the time murdered. Her baby was born alive then sadly passed away. I think of her daily. Back then there was no internet, SM, or anything to help her family and friends. I am so glad and thank God for Red, Klaas, Muffy and all here that give murdered victims a voice. And I know he is never around anymore, but I thank Rob for his kind words when I first started posting. He is an angel. Too bad he is never around anymore.

You know JSM, you have to be the sweetest monkey around. I really like you!
Thanks Boo, I like you too. I have just had a hard night tonight thinking Casey will get off. My friend's murderer was never found. Even though some of us know who was probably the one that had it done, it has been unsolved for almost 20 years. That's what makes this case really stick with me. Kisses to the big baby dog for me. Also stay warm.

Not a chance. You know all the good stuff they have made public? That isn't even 1/2 of what they have on her!! They are saving the really good stuff for the trial!! We just don't know about it yet. You just wait, our jaws will be dropping and we will wonder why we worried so! Have faith in LE and your Beary, they did right by Caylee!!
I think you are right Boo. Sheriff Beary cares about this case. I just wish it were the same for my friend. If I had the money, I would try to get a cold case opened up. But I don't think it would help. Her dad is dead and it just about killed her brothers and sister. Sometimes I just wish I could do something. Thanks monkeys for listenting to me tonight.

You should contact Bill Curtis on A&Es Cold Case Files. At the end of every show they ask if you know of an unsolved cold case. If not that show, there are many like it on Investigation Discovery. Might be worth looking into.
I would do that Blessed Mom, thanks, but they would have to work with LE where I live. The PD here seem to throw any murder they can't solve under the rug. We had a big one last New Year's day. A dad murdered his two daughters. Made national news, it's been a year and nothing. I have a feeling these two girls dad will end up in the bottom of the files just like my friend and her baby. It's a running joke if you want to murder someone do it in the town I live in, you will never get caught.

Same here, there have probably been a handful of murders in my town in the last few years.  Not ONE was solved.  So I agree with Joe, if ya want to commit a murder, come do it in my town, 99% chance you wont get caught.     MOO.

I have no idea how they heat the food up! Then i got to thinking that when my son was in boot camp they had to eat MRE's. Meals Ready To Eat. Here is a link with info on them.

along the gulf coast we call MRE's hurricane provisions...

I think Casey is prematurely graying just like Lee.  She's going to look pretty bad the next time she's in court.

Lisa

I think you're right.  And, I'm thankful they don't sell hair dye at the prison commissary!

What about makeup ? Can she purchase any form of eye liner, lipstick, blush etc... ?
I don't know if she can, but I'm sure if she can she will, she needs to look pretty for her lawyers.

Looks like she can get lipstick, eyeliner and mascara...but no blush and no tweezers
Well if she can't have blush, that must just really ruin her day. After looking at the commissary list, I would say the prisoners are pretty lucky to be able to order all those things, even tuna in a pouch.

most of the "food" on that list is very unhealthy...nothing fresh, all processed food..and the bulk of it is hi sugar snacks....

ITA, what we are seeing is the aftermath of a very long storm. I can't imagine dealing with that on a daily basis, then on top of it, worrying about a small baby. There was nothing they could do at the time about Caylee. She belonged to KC and according to the law, that was that. I suspect Cindy had finally reached the end of her rope when contacting a councilor and had documented enough stuff on KC to go after Caylee in court. Wonder where those papers are? I bet Cindy had a big thick file folder full of stuff to prove she was an unfit mother. Including maybe bruises, etc. on Caylee, maybe even Caylee's own words. They just weren't quick enough for KC, she got the last strike in before they could get her!

Next Cindy goes into protective mode, the one she has been in for a very long time. We saw it in her email exchange with her brother. She denies everything, and if done enough and loud enough (just like KC) people will back off and leave her alone. Personally, I think Cindy learned it from KC, she got the full effect for many many years of battling KC.

Yep Boo, I agree!

Many moms of Cindy's generation have a "What happens in this house stays in this house" kind of mentality.  She was certainly at her wits end if she saught counseling, as this is not often done in dysfuntional families by the controlling one.  I am sure that if Cindy would allow her own counselor to speak with LE they would have a very interesting view of what was going on in the house prior to KC leaving.  And I am sure it would NOT help KC.
I think the big fight the  nightvKC left was Cindy found out KC was druging Caylee=Caylee could have said I dont like the medicine mommy gives me to sleep-or I dont like to sleep in the car all alone.Caylee could have said any number od things to alert  Cindy.

I agree. If it's true that Cindy tried to choke Casey, it had to be something that serious. I just don't think taking money from the grandparents would be enough to cause Cindy to choke her. They were used to Casey stealing money.

Does anyone know if Casey is isolated from other inmates?

http://www.nowpublic.com/world/judge-orders-no-bond-casey-anthonys-initial-appearance

Casey is being held in "Protective Custody Level One" in a cell by herself without any other inmate contact.  She is not eligible for bond.

Yes, she was even bragging to her parents during one of the jail visits, she is right next to the desk, and she feels safe and protected, almost like she is the only one the guards are watching. She must think she is a Hollywood starlet, getting all this special treatment.

The Daily Routine of Death Row Inmates in Florida Prison

Death Row &
Death Watch cells:
A Death Row cell is 6 x 9 x 9.5 feet high. Florida State Prison also has Death Watch cells to incarcerate inmates awaiting execution after the Governor signs a death warrant for them. A Death Watch cell is 12 x 7 x 8.5 feet high.

Men on Death Row are housed at Florida State Prison in Starke, FL, and Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, FL. The women on Death Row are housed at Lowell Correctional Institution Annex in Lowell, FL.

Meals:    Death Row inmates are served meals three times a day: at 5:00 am, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Food is prepared by prison staff and transported in insulated carts to the cells. Inmates are allowed plates and spoons to eat their meals. Prior to execution, an inmate may request a last meal. To avoid extravagance, the food to prepare the last meal must cost no more than $40 and must be purchased locally.

Visitors:    All inmate visitors must be approved before visitation is allowed. Questions regarding an inmate's visiting day(s), visiting hours, and special visits should be directed to the Classification Officer responsible for the inmate at the inmate's assigned facility. Questions may be sent by letter, e-mail or by telephone. Members of the news media may request Death Row inmate interviews through the Department of Corrections Public Affairs Office at (850) 488-0420. The inmate must agree to the interview and the interview will be non-contact.

Showers:    The inmates may shower every other day.

Security:    Death Row inmates are counted at least once an hour. They are escorted in handcuffs and wear them everywhere except in their cells, the exercise yard and the shower. They are in their cells at all times except for medical reasons, exercise, social or legal visits or media interviews. When a death warrant is signed the inmate is put under Death Watch status and is allowed a legal and social phone call.

Mail,
Magazines &
Entertainment:    Inmates may receive mail every day except holidays and weekends. They may have cigarettes, snacks, radios and 13" televisions in their cells. They do not have cable television or air-conditioning and they are not allowed to be with each other in a common room. They can watch church services on closed circuit television. While on Death Watch, inmates may have radios and televisions positioned outside their cell bars.

Clothing:    Death Row inmates can be distinguished from other inmates by their orange t-shirts. Their pants are the same blue colored pants worn by regular inmates.

I've seen plans of a prison where the cells face onto a common area, in which were TVs hanging like they do in hospitals.  They had two or three of them so that a screen would be visible to each cell.  Don't know, of course, but it is possible that the jail she is might follow this plan.

Misconceptions About Florida Prisons

This following is intended to clarify misconceptions about the Department of Corrections. You are encouraged to copy and circulate it.

1. "Inmates don't work."
Photo of Inmate Mowing

On March 2, 2007, there were 90,679 inmates in the Florida prison system. Private prisons housed 5,353 inmates and the remaining 85,326 were in DC facilities. On March 2, 2007, 81.9% of the inmates in Department of Corrections institutions and facilities were assigned to work, assigned to participate in a Substance Abuse Program, or Vocational Education or Adult Education, or were assigned to some other program activity. The remaining 18.1% were medically unable to work, or were participating in the reception and orientation process, assigned to a disciplinary work squad as a result of rule infractions, assigned to a restricted labor squad or were in some type of confinement for management purposes, including death row.
Photo of Inmate Using Machinery

Inmate labor is used to perform work on farms and gardens managed by the department, construct new correctional facilities, perform repairs and renovations to facilities and otherwise support and maintain the ongoing operation of correctional institutions. Inmates also prepare and serve all meals, maintain prison grounds, participate in sanitation and recycling processes, and work in PRIDE (Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises) or PIE (Prison Industry Enhancement) work programs. Additionally, inmates are assigned to Community Work Squads provided by the department. These inmates perform services under agreements with the Department of Transportation, other state agencies such as the Division of Forestry, counties, cities, municipalities, and non-profit organizations. In Fiscal Year 2005-06, the DC's Community Work Squad Program saved Florida taxpayers more than $44.5 million through inmate labor -- a $2.5 million increase from the prior fiscal year.
Photo of dormitory dayroom.

2. "Inmates have cable television and satellite dishes."

There are no correctional facilities with cable television. The 33 prisons that have satellite dishes use them for staff training as part of the Corrections Distance Learning Network (CDLN). The CDLN saves money by training staff throughout the state simultaneously. Most prisons have televisions available to inmates for use when inmates are not working. The televisions are located in dormitory dayrooms for group viewing. Most of the department's televisions were paid for by proceeds from sales to inmates from the inmate canteens. However, state law now prohibits the purchase of televisions for recreational purposes.
Photo of inmates farming.

3. "Why don't inmates grow their own food and save taxpayers some money?"

Inmates do grow some of their own food and expansion of the Bureau of Institutional Support's edible crops program continues. In Fiscal Year 2005-06, the Bureau cultivated approximately 1,700 acres and harvested approximately 4.1 million pounds of produce including watermelons and cantaloupe. The number of inmates assigned to the edible crops program continues to increase, due largely to the expanded use of close custody inmates supervised by Field Force Officers. Field Force Officers, mounted on horseback, supervise close custody inmates who are assigned to work in the fields cultivating the edible crops. Usually the squad is made up of four mounted, armed officers and one unarmed (on the ground) supervisor who control up to 75 close custody inmates. There are currently 225 of these inmates in Field Force Squads at the following institutions: Apalachee Correctional Institution (CI),New River CI, "O" Unit and Desoto Annex. There are an additional 400 inmates also assigned to the Farm Program. With the privatization of food service in our department, the edible crops program is moving toward more centralized operations on our large-scale farms, thus allowing greater efficiency in processing and distributing harvested products.
Photo of inmates behind gate.

4. "The Department of Corrections determines how long inmates serve in prison."

The Department of Corrections does not determine the length of prison sentences or the length of time inmates serve in prison. Judges and juries, in accordance with state laws and sentencing guidelines, make these decisions. The department is solely responsible for the care and custody of offenders under its jurisdiction. FY 2005-06, the average sentence length for all prison admissions was 4.4 years for whites, 4.7 years for blacks and 5.0 years for all others. The average sentence length for all offenders admitted in FY 2005-06 was 4.6 years.

5. "Inmates still aren't serving most of their sentences."

Offenders who committed their offenses on or after October 1, 1995 are required to serve a minimum of 85% of their court-imposed sentences prior to their release. Offenders released in January 2007 served an average of 86.4% of their sentence. The average percentage of sentence served for released offenders has significantly increased in the last 10 years (January 1997, 67.7% versus January 2007, 86.4%). A downloadable brochure on Time Served by Florida inmates is also available.

6. "Prisons are air-conditioned."
Photo of dormitory with fans.

Only ten of the major state-managed prisons in Florida have air-conditioning in some portion of the facility housing inmates, and many of these are located in South Florida. The following institutions have air-conditioning in the areas indicated: Lancaster C.I. (confinement area); Union C.I. (13 dorms); Youthful Offender institution Brevard C.I. (all dorms); Lake C.I. and Zephyrhills C.I. (a/c installed in Mental Health areas in 1997 at Lake C.I. and 1995 at Z.C.I.); female institutions Broward C.I., Hillsborough C.I. and Homestead C.I. (all dorms); Dade C.I. (Mental Health area) and Charlotte C.I. (Mental Health area air conditioned in FY 1994-95) The five Florida prison facilities built under the privatization contract are also air-conditioned.
Photo of inmate in cell.

7. "Inmates who get life sentences don't really stay in prison for life."

Since 1995, anyone sentenced to life in prison is serving a life term with no possibility of parole. On June 30, 2006, there were 628 Florida parolees and 1,526 parolees from other states under supervision in Florida. Offenders sentenced to life for non-capital crimes committed between 1983 and 1993 are serving life sentences without any chance for release. Ironically, offenders sentenced to life for capital crimes committed between 1983 and 1993 are parole eligible after serving 25 year mandatory sentences. These sentencing provisions appear reversed, but they are correct. This anomaly in the law lasted from 1983 to 1994. Since 1995, anyone sentenced to life in prison is serving a life term with no possibility of parole. On March 3, 2007 there were 10,412 inmates in prison serving life sentences. A total of 5,923 were serving life with the possibility of parole and 4,489 were serving life sentences without the possibility of parole.

if so, then she could watch TV all day maybe ? no cable tho, can't have much of a channel selection    Reminds me of TV years ago in England...BBC1, BBC2 and I think one or two other channels

Mgoblue=I agree  dont think cindy would choke kc over money=like you said she was used to it=by the way its nice to see someone smoking=
