VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- The United States Marshall Service and the New Smyrna Beach Police Department announced their arrest of Alton Smith, accused of engaging in sex acts with young children with his wife.

Smith was located shortly after 5 a.m. at the Oceania Beach Club off South Atlantic Avenue. While officers were attempting to contact him at the door, he exited onto the balcony and began to climb down balconies from the 6th floor.

Officers said once Smith reached the ground, he was quickly subdued and taken into custody.

Smith was wanted on 37 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child.

He was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail where his bond was set at $925,000.

On December 30, investigators found illegal photos on a computer belonging to Smith and his wife, Tina Marie Smith. The photos contained pictures showing children believed to be as young as 8-years-old, engaged in sex acts. Investigators said the pictures also showed the couple engaging in sex acts with the children.

The photos were discovered as part of an investigation into a prostitution operation being run by the couple's 25-year-old daughter, identified as Kristilynn Smith.
