ORLANDO, Fla. -- The father of Casey Anthony, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, had alcohol in his motel room and took several sleeping pills prior to being found by authorities after he sent suicidal text messages to family members who reported him missing, sources told Local 6 News.

Meanwhile, Local 6 News learned Thursday that a gas can with apparent duct tape on it that was seized from the home of George and Cindy Anthony, where Casey Anthony and Caylee lived, is being compared to duct tape found over Caylee's mouth because the tape appears to be identical.

The gas can was seized by investigators Aug. 1 from the Anthony home. Local 6 News showed video of the metal gas can, which appeared to have silver duct tape on it.

OK.  So if this is true that the letter states that he believes KC is innocent - and that her friends killed Caylee - then my opinion is that the whole suicide attempt is STAGED.   I don't believe it anymore.   He didn't take enough pills on purpose.  And, he left his phone on - ON PURPOSE.

Is word of this "letter" that I'm just hearing about a rumor or something that has been substantiated? 

If it's true and he was trying to put the blame on someone else (or even to take it himself) I think he was just multi-tasking.

If he were trying to take the blame he'd have taken the blame, not tried to put it on her friends.

I suspect they're being blackmailed, and the jewelry story is a cover because George took $ with him. Cindy thought of jewelry to explain the $, without thinking it through.

George is not the good guy in that dysfunctional household.  When I consider both George and Casey actions that imply neither could not be trusted ... if I was Cindy ... I would have packed my bags ... taken Caylee Marie and ... taken off.  Staying would have implied I would have turned into a controlling shrew.

History reveals what road Cindy chose to take.

I agree with you that he is not "the good guy" in that household.  There IS NO good guy there.  I do think, however, that his controlling wife is a big reason this whole "stand by our evil daughter" has continued for so long.  I think that there is a much better chance of George cracking than there is of Cindy cracking.   I think the chance of him breaking down and doing the right thing are much better if the two of them are estranged, too.  (Dare to dream, I know.)

If George was going to break ... the five page letter would not have upheld both Casey and Cindy.

Think about it.  George's intention was to commit suicide.  He would not have to face Cindy's wrath but ... HE DID NOT BREAK!!!  Justice for Caylee Marie again took a back seat.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Authorities in Daytona Beach confirmed on Friday that a suicide note was found with George Anthony at a hotel along U.S. Highway 1.

Investigators said the eight-page note indicated George Anthony was at the end of his rope, and that once he was gone, his family would have a better life. He wrote about how strong his daughter, Casey Anthony, is and said he doesn't believe she hurt her daughter, Caylee. However, he did make dark, veiled references to his daughter's friends.

George Anthony also wrote in the letter that his wife, Cindy, could do better than him. He also wrote about his son, Lee Anthony ...

The quoted article above starts out with the statement "several" pills.  Which article says the container was empty? And if he'd taken it all, how did he walk to the car? He had 4 beers left, so I assume he drank two. I figure they estimated based on what was left in the container, how many pills he'd taken, but they might just have asked him. He was conscious when they found him.

IIRC, on the 911 tape, Conway said noone had seen GA since he left the house at 3:30 am.. so what is it? 3:30am or going out for jewelry?

He was an ex-LE ... LE don't usually "threaten" suicide ... they put a gun to their head ... which is why their suicide rate is so much higher than that of the average citizen.  It was a ploy ... I'm convinced of that now!  I take back every sympathetic and nice thing I said about this scenario this morning!  (and okay - I'll take a little time between refrigerator trips from this point on.)

I know he wasn't trying to take the blame - my sentence was a little unclear, and inside the parentheses should have said (or had even tried to take it himself).  At first, before I ever heard of this letter, that thought popped into my head.  (His taking the blame himself before going down)
