Year of Karma ~ 2009

« on: January 22, 2009, 07:04:47 PM »

Wow that was a mouthful for a new Title ...for a new thread

This is one of my Fave Songs from my Years ... that I still go back to. No computerized voices .. no frills .. Just Voice .. Sonny & Cher ...the vid is what it is ..
The Voices themselves of Sonny & Cher - ingrained in my head.  And that I love Cher.

I hope more Monkeys add their Fave songs

I hope this is what you're looking for...I'll leave Elvis out of this thread

Artists/songs that have had an impact in my life are numerous, but I'll start with some
Cat Stevens...spent many hours, and still do, listening to his music..I grew up listening to him at a very young age, and he inspired me to play the guitar...

Where Do the Children Play...1976

Miles From Nowhere & Father and Son...1976

Peace Train...1976

I am new here and I can't believe that I can't find Taylor Hicks anywhere here!

It's late here but I will be back to explain how he has enlightened me since he won AI.  Until then enjoy this

don't click the link if you don't like country,
cuz it's a song about regret by Kenny Chesney
w/ a crybaby steel guitar

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSwqHz916Jc

I'd spent a lot more time in the pourin' rain
without an umbrella coverin' my head

and I'd stood up to that bully
when he pushed and called me names
but I was too afraid

And I'da gone on and saw Elvis
that night he came to town
but Mama said I couldn't

and I'da went skinny dippin' with Jenny Carson
that time she dared me to
but I didn't

> Oh, I, I'd done a lotta things diff'rent

I wish I'da spent more time with my dad
when he was alive
now I don't have the chance

and I wish I'da told my brother how much I loved him
before he went off to war
but I just shook his hand

I wish I'da gone to church on Sunday mornin'
when my grammaw begged me to
but I was afraid of God

And I wish I woulda listened when they said
"Boy, you're gonna wish you hadn't"
but I wouldn't

> Oh I, I'd done a lotta things diff'rent

People say they wouldn't change a thing,
even if they could
oh, but I would

There was this red dress she wanted one time
so bad she could taste it
I shoulda bought it ... but I didn't

She wanted to paint our bedroom yellow
and trim it in blues and greens
but I wouldn't let her ... wouldn'ta hurt nothin'

She loved to be held and kissed and touched
but I didn't do it ... not nearly enough

If I'da known that dance
was gonna be our last dance
I'da asked that band to play on and on,
on and on

> Oh, I, I'd done a lotta things diff'rent

People say they wouldn't change a thing,
even if they could
oh, but I would, oh whoa

Oh, I, I'd done a lotta things ...
I think we'd all do a lotta things diff'rent

this song = a free oil change  Cool

dropped off my car w/ this CD in the player,
came back later, dude hands me the keys:

"that is the sickest sh*t I ever heard in a minivan,
no charge for the service today"

he was grinning from ear to ear
so, along w/ the freebie,
I figured out that sick sh*t was a good thing
