The Senator from Illinois warned us that we would need a civilian militia as well outfitted as our military.

I thought "WTF" we already have the National Guard, what more do we need?  We have rednecks, roughnecks, and our inner cities are filled with ammunition.

Enter Barney Frank -

Quote
Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the Democratic chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, warned that reductions in state spending in the Senate bill would hurt local communities.

"To get any Republicans at all, you had to adopt a cut that's going to mean policemen and firemen are going to be laid off," he said. "Aid to the states is to prevent this budget crunch from laying off public employees. "

Buy your guns and pass the ammunition before they run out at WallyMart.

During this past weekend, I heard about a local company taking across the board pay cuts instead of laying off people.  It's nice that people really do feel that we are in this together, and do something.

Gun rights threat
Ed Dailey, Fairbanks

Published Sunday, February 8, 2009

To the editor:

Gun owners take notice! On Jan. 6, 2009, House Resolution 45 was filed in the U.S. House. It is known as “Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009.” This is the most anti-gun legislation I think I have ever seen, short of outlawing guns.

IMAGINING GUN CONTROL IN AMERICA:
UNDERSTANDING THE REMAINDER PROBLEM

Quote
In England and Wales there were 1.7 million legally registered
firearms in 2005; illegal, unregistered guns were estimated as high
as 4 million.81 The Chinese reported 680,000 legal guns in 2005,
with estimates of nearly 40 million illegal guns.82 The German
police union estimates that Germany has “about 45 million civilian
guns: about 10 million registered firearms; 20 million that should be
registered, but apparently are not; and 15 million firearms―such as
antiques . . . and black-powder weapons . . . that do not have to be
registered.”83

Quote
Nothing else in our experience contradicts these signals. Many
people evidently believe guns protect against things they fear more
than criminal sanctions. The risk-reward calculation that pushes
ordinary people to obey a wide array of criminal laws seems
different here.90

The Lufkin Daily News

Sunday, February 08, 2009

Q: What is HR 45 bill about? I heard it's for a registry for gun owners. Is this true or not?

A: Here is a summary of the bill, according to the Library of Congress Web site: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - Amends the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. Prescribes license application, issuance, and renewal requirements.

Prohibits transferring or receiving a qualifying firearm unless the recipient presents a valid firearms license, the license is verified, and the dealer records a tracking authorization number. Prescribes firearms transfer reporting and record keeping requirements. Directs the Attorney General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system.

Prohibits: (1) transferring a firearm to any person other than a licensee, unless the transfer is processed through a licensed dealer in accordance with national instant criminal background check system requirements, with exceptions; (2) a licensed manufacturer or dealer from failing to comply with reporting and record keeping requirements of this Act; (3) failing to report the loss or theft of the firearm to the Attorney General within 72 hours; (4) failing to report to the Attorney General an address change within 60 days; or (5) keeping a loaded firearm, or an unloaded firearm and ammunition for the firearm, knowingly or recklessly disregarding the risk that a child is capable of gaining access, if a child uses the firearm and causes death or serious bodily injury.

Prescribes criminal penalties for violations of firearms provisions covered by this Act.

Directs the Attorney General to: (1) establish and maintain a firearm injury information clearinghouse; (2) conduct continuing studies and investigations of firearm-related deaths and injuries; and (3) collect and maintain current production and sales figures of each licensed manufacturer.

Authorizes the Attorney General to certify state firearm licensing or record of sale systems.

It sounds like it will take more to own a gun than to register to vote and to vote on voting day.

Ted Nugent: Why gun sales are surging

Sunday, February 08, 2009

One sector of the American economy that is booming with the new administration is the absolute orgy of guns and ammunition sales, although I am certain President Barack Obama won’t say anything about this positive economic news.

I read more than one report of the surge of civilian firepower sales when it appeared that Obama would be elected.

Reason: Freedom lovers do not trust Obama.

Quote
Mysteriously, when Holder worked for President Bill Clinton and was in charge of the instant background check system, the system was routinely broken and off-line. Miraculously, when the Bush administration took over in 2001 the system rarely broke down. I smell a Fedzilla ratfink.

Truth is, what Holder really supports is more law-abiding citizens being victimized by recidivistic, violent punks on parole.

While he is personally protected by heavily armed law-enforcement officers, he does not believe you and I have a right to protect ourselves and our loved ones with a gun. He’s a hypocrite.

Quote
What our new president and his attorney general obviously want is control. Studying other gun-grabbing regimes of the past, they know the first thing that needs to be done to turn us from citizens to subjects is to disarm us.

My advice to American freedom lovers: Buy more guns and ammo, and join the National Rifle Association.

Any alternatives to gun use?

Over the years, there have been some clever individuals.  Some have used knives, car bombs, van bombs, and airplanes to kill.  There is no ban (that I am aware of) on knives, cars, vans, or airplanes.

People kill.

The reasons for the rise in gun sales are twofold, gun dealers said.

First, many buyers say they fear that with Democrats in control of the White House and Congress, gun regulations will increase. Gun dealers said their business was heavy in the days after Obama's election, and sales continue to soar.

Second, dealers said that people are stocking up on weapons and ammo because they fear the economy will grow so bad that they will need to protect themselves.

Quote
"If we had more, we'd sell more," said Scott Feltzer, an employee of Glenn's Guns in Annville. "Certain guns are selling better than ever, but we can't get them."

Those "certain guns" are semi-automatic pistols; the AR15, the semi-automatic civilian model of the military's M16; and shotguns.

"Sales are going wild. People are scared of what the government may do," Feltzer said. "They're afraid times will get really bad, and they fear for their lives, or they're afraid that they will lose their rights."

It would appear that Obama is already causing prosperity among certain parts of the economy.
